I'm white & I love this with my whole heart & soul, cause basically we've all got two arms, two legs & a heartbeat... If you feel it, you do, no matter what colour... Cheers to the Chicago Blues... x
" god have mercy down here in this cottonfield". Only 1936 watched.. ? I do not understand peoples musicpreferences. You wont get it any better! This is the best.
smartalek 1, i heard it on a 3 cd vanguard blues sampler. it's otis spann on piano. i find this song completely captivating. u can hear him saying let me have a little bit of it spann please. a stellar song written by dee mercy
I have been a slave to the blues for years and just heard this tune....totally brillant! This tune comes from the depths of Buddy's soul and I am floored by the way it comes thru. I have seen Buddy numerous times live, but this tune just kills...I can't imagine seeing him play this live...majestic for sure.
One of the first Buddy Guy blues tunes I ever heard and I still think it's his best - There's just too much soul in this song, it breaks your heart with its tenderness and beauty...Truly the blues...What a backing band, eh?!...Fantastic piano, heavy bass and those brushes on the skins...Wow...! And Buddy just surfing majestically over the top - Folks don't play music like this no more...!
Yes, you tell the truth. A masterpiece from "A Man And The Blues". Nothing moe, only Buddy Guy and his blues. An LP published in 1968 on Vanguard. And one of my all time favorites ...
I'm pretty sure this is the version on a long-out-of-print Vanguard sampler album that was the very 1st blues I ever heard, & that made me an instant fan for life.
Just like that first hit of coke or h (or so they tell me -- clearly I wouldn't know about that).
Thanks so much for posting this here, debector.
Despite 5 Grammies, 2 many ppl don't know about the man Clapton called "by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive" ("Musician" mag, '85).
WOW this IS the best version I've heard of this song!

The best blues of both Otis Spann and Buddy Guy. Probably no one will ever play this song like that again, even Buddy Guy.

my story exactly
this track is the one that made me a lifelong Buddy Guy fan, and a multi-life-long blues fan.
Hope & pray he stays with us, healthy & happy, a good long while

I heard this version in Essential Mix - Laurent Garnier 2009, and it hit me from the first time like it was H :P
I thought it was Nina Simone for some reason doing a cover of Buddy Guy.
