@illidanomg1 At this point in time I'd not recommend the 6850 because the 6870 right now can easily be had for like $149 after rebates. As for a FX 6100 VS a 965 it's just all preference and what you want to do and how you run your computer. I personally will be working in photoshop while rendering a project and encoding a DVD all at the same time with Firefox and IM and everything open, so I need a 8 core FX or a core i7SBE. if you multitask then a 6100 is fine, if not then either.
@SubaruHyena Well I usually just play games, listen to music and have google chrome open all the time. I think I will buy 6100 it's turbo unlocked to 4ghz and the downside for phenom 965 is the increased voltage usage and it's damn hot!
@illidanomg1 A FX 6100 should work well for you then, though if you can I think the 8120 is only like $40 more and I think it's a little better of a deal. Either way they're nice processors, I've enjoyed mine. And that Corsair should be fine too.

@illidanomg1 Bulldozer is absolutely terrible. The i5 2500k (3.3 quad) beats the FX 8150(3.6 8-core), no problem. The 2500k is $199 on sale and will drop to $179 very soon. Don't take my word for it---look at the benches for yourself. Oh, and by the way.. the intel ****k series over clocks like a beast.
@Computergeew no offense, but it's not entirely well balanced. If I may make some recommendations. go with 2X 4GB DDR3 1600 or faster sticks of ram for 8GB total, If you want to go with an i5 that's fine, but the i5 is quad core only, if you want 4 cores and 8 threads you have to buy a Core i7 or a AMD FX 81xx processor.
a AMD HD6870 should be fine, but if you can buy a HD68xx cheap or wait for the HD8xxx series. You probably only need a good quality 650W power supply as well.
@SubaruHyena Thanks. The RAM I was getting did say 8GB though.. Honestly I don't know worth crap about computers, even though I would like to. So I bought this bundle online from Walmart that let me chose what components I wanted. Everything but the Processor met beyond the recommended requirements. The processor was quad (the requirements weren't so specific). They said that my computer would come with everything inside the computer...
i have an MSI Twin Frozr II/OC 6870 4gb RAM,2TB HDD and Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.4GHz-4.40GHz,nothing overclocked,and it lags like a bitch on her period man,it doesnt lag at all only when on medium....any tips to play Skyrim on ultra settings and not lag???please I need help...xD :P
@reymysterio136 wtf ,my processor is only i7 2.93 i can play crisis on ultra and ultra realistic mods and battlefield 3 on ultra also is no problem. Skyrim has shitty graphics compared to the shit I usually play. I dont know but there must be another problem man

@reymysterio136 i traied to update dhe gpu driver at the latest one 12.1 and update the game alsow ate the secound update relised. and jet it didn't work . i get from 14-21 fps with fraps. and over all it have shity graphycs too

@Cpillin425 See my video "Skyrim Performance Drivers" the bulldozer kicks your Phenoms ass as well does the 6870 kick your 5770's ass. If you had paid any attention to the date when this video was uploaded (november 10th) You would realize this is on unsupported drivers. With drivers 11.12 I get 60+ indoors, 60+ outdoors, and that's at 1080p with all high or ultra settings with all draw distances maxed and shadows on ultra...you lose, good day sir.
@SubaruHyena I guess Cpillin425 left himself wide open for the butt kickin you gave him. Even without the driver update, it looks like you were getting decent FPS. At least better than me with my dinosaur gfx card, which wasn't on the update list for those drivers :(
@SubaruHyena actually it is a fact the phenom II x4 is a better gaming cpu then bulldozer as of today even with the MS patch (2/10/12), but dozer wins in multi-threaded apps hands down. Everything else you said was accurate, and thanks for the video! I have a 5770 waiting on a 7870 so I can max out skyrim :)
@LBGreenthumb The only Phenom II I've seen that "is better at gaming" are the 6 core and the X4 980 3.7GHz all those cost nearly as much as a 8 core 8120 anyway, if all you wanna do is game 24/7 then you should get a i5 2300. I use applications that will use all 8 cores all day long, so even a 2500k isn't good enough for my needs.
Also though, my 8150 overclocks like a motherfucker. 4.5GHz and more room to go, it's beating out my roommate's 2600k at 4GHz in 3D mark 11
@LBGreenthumb Oh also, don't buy a 7870 just to play Skyrim. You could easily get away most likely with a 7770 because I'm running the High resolution texture pack at 1080p fully maxed draw distanced everything on high on just the single HD6870 (Video of it in progress) and I'm still ~60fps.
If you're going to buy a 7870 do it for other games like Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Dirt 3/Grid 2, Batman Arkham City; games that actually have DX11 and tessellation.
@SubaruHyena I have the X4 980 at 3.9GHz and I plan on putting that 7870 to work, alot of BF3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, it will pushed to the limits. Also I have AM3 mobo so I will upgrade to piledriver when its released.
@LBGreenthumb Ohh I gotcha. And just as a FYI PileDriver is going to be AM3+ so I'd recommend upgrading to a chipset at a minimum of 990X, there might be a new chip following PileDriver with PCI E 3.0 on it or something like that, but then again I don't think there's really a difference between 2.0 and 3.0.
Congrats on getting a 7xxx series though, I'm envious. I'm probably going to hold out until the HD89xx series since I'm happy with my HD6870 from Asus.

@Cpillin425 well the 5770 is actually a pretty good card. i wish i could still find it. and the HD 6000 series cards are great. same goes for hte Bulldozer series. i can run skyrim no problem on ultra at 80+fps with my GTS 450 and AMD fx 4100 bulldozer (oc'ed to 4.6 ghz but it doesnt alter performance all that much on skyrim :P)

@Blurtex33 FALSE, do your research before making comments like that, skyrim settings (360/ps3) 1280x720 25-30fps medium settings, low view distance (gaming pc) 1080p 60fps+ ultra settings, full view distance. Plus bethesda released an official high res texture pack for the pc version this week, so if you couldn't see the difference before you sure will now. You should look at full res side by side screenshots not at youtube videos. I have skyrim for PC and 360.

Consoles are just a imprint of the best a computer can do at the time of the Consoles Release...A day later the computer world changes completely...example a patch, or new driver, could come out and completely stop you from enjoying the game you spent money on....Consoles did not use to have that problem....But they are slowly acquiring them....So the console is for a person who can't afford that 10000 dollar rig and still get similiar entertainment....Nothing can stop a powerful rig....

Skyrim has a 40km^2 world, not to mention 150+ dungeons. Crysis is on a small island. Imagine if Skyrim had graphics as Crysis? It would take up like 100+ gb.
@WoYaTzar I doubt it would take up that much space. It would probably be very similar to Crysis. The way games like that load is that they load up macro detail when in the overworld. You don't see the micro detail until you get up close to something.
@ZsHouseProductions Crysis isn't seamless, and it was developed for PC only initially, as opposed to Skyrim which was developed for the 3 main platforms. I'm not one of those butthurt over-priviliged PC fanboys but I must admit, games look better when developed on pc only. You can develop to the absolute limit of modern graphics technology.

@ZsHouseProductions Pretty sure it's been said before, but Crysis was made for PC and optimized their capabilities (actually raped them at the time) and this is a console port. Can't really compare the two, but you can compare Crysis to the Witcher 2 if you'd like

@Trojan9514 I do play the mage role, always have, and yes the magic combat has improved to be as good as it can be, given the expanse of spells one has. But what about people who want to play stealth, or the warrior role? Neither of those has improved at all, other than dual-wielding and perk trees. The mechanics are still awful. They fucked with your brain with the first gameplay trailer. Everything reacted when you hit it. Then you try for yourself, it's Oblivion's static combat.

I've said before that I get that people would be annoyed by consoles having outdated technology, but there isn't anything that can be done about it. Most people don't have the technical know-how, or the cash to build or buy a gaming rig. Consoles are necessary. If they didn't exist, we'd still be playing Frontier - Elite.
@ZsHouseProductions Actually I've proved that idea wrong in previous comments, a DX11 "Gaming capable computer" can be built for ~400 this is a system centered around playing BF3 on High in DX11.
Another area where you're a bit flawed is on the hardware. You seem to think most people have console power PC's. According to the Steam Hardware Survey Results. DX9 and older cards only make up 6.29% That means that 93.71% of peoples cards are either DX10 or 11. Xbox is DX9
@ZsHouseProductions So my point, in short, is that the PC gamers aren't holding back any part of the Industry, with 93.7% of cards being either DX10 or 11 (31% DX11, 48% DX10 and 14% being DX10/11 on XP) and the average computer having 4 cores and 4+GB of RAM they're a lot more powerful than the consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if the "average gaming computer" right now is still going to be as powerful if not more powerful than the "xbox 720" is going to be.
@SubaruHyena You're over-exaggerating what I'm saying. A gaming capable computer can be built cheap, but one that will last a while can not. If you want one more than capable, that is. And I didn't say most people have console-level PC's. I understand the price point. It does not break the bank. I'm saying that consoles are not only cheap now, they're convenient. Like I said, most people don't have the technical know-how, nor the patience to build one themselves.

@Computergeew no offense, but it's not entirely well balanced. If I may make some recommendations. go with 2X 4GB DDR3 1600 or faster sticks of ram for 8GB total, If you want to go with an i5 that's fine, but the i5 is quad core only, if you want 4 cores and 8 threads you have to buy a Core i7 or a AMD FX 81xx processor.
a AMD HD6870 should be fine, but if you can buy a HD68xx cheap or wait for the HD8xxx series. You probably only need a good quality 650W power supply as well.

So I bought this bundle online from Walmart that let me chose what components I wanted. Everything but the Processor met beyond the recommended requirements. The processor was quad (the requirements weren't so specific). They said that my computer would come with everything inside the computer...

If you had paid any attention to the date when this video was uploaded (november 10th) You would realize this is on unsupported drivers. With drivers 11.12 I get 60+ indoors, 60+ outdoors, and that's at 1080p with all high or ultra settings with all draw distances maxed and shadows on ultra...you lose, good day sir.

@SubaruHyena actually it is a fact the phenom II x4 is a better gaming cpu then bulldozer as of today even with the MS patch (2/10/12), but dozer wins in multi-threaded apps hands down. Everything else you said was accurate, and thanks for the video! I have a 5770 waiting on a 7870 so I can max out skyrim :)

@LBGreenthumb The only Phenom II I've seen that "is better at gaming" are the 6 core and the X4 980 3.7GHz all those cost nearly as much as a 8 core 8120 anyway, if all you wanna do is game 24/7 then you should get a i5 2300. I use applications that will use all 8 cores all day long, so even a 2500k isn't good enough for my needs.
Also though, my 8150 overclocks like a motherfucker. 4.5GHz and more room to go, it's beating out my roommate's 2600k at 4GHz in 3D mark 11

@LBGreenthumb Oh also, don't buy a 7870 just to play Skyrim. You could easily get away most likely with a 7770 because I'm running the High resolution texture pack at 1080p fully maxed draw distanced everything on high on just the single HD6870 (Video of it in progress) and I'm still ~60fps.
If you're going to buy a 7870 do it for other games like Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Dirt 3/Grid 2, Batman Arkham City; games that actually have DX11 and tessellation.

@SubaruHyena I have the X4 980 at 3.9GHz and I plan on putting that 7870 to work, alot of BF3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, it will pushed to the limits. Also I have AM3 mobo so I will upgrade to piledriver when its released.

And just as a FYI PileDriver is going to be AM3+ so I'd recommend upgrading to a chipset at a minimum of 990X, there might be a new chip following PileDriver with PCI E 3.0 on it or something like that, but then again I don't think there's really a difference between 2.0 and 3.0.
Congrats on getting a 7xxx series though, I'm envious. I'm probably going to hold out until the HD89xx series since I'm happy with my HD6870 from Asus.

@Cpillin425 well the 5770 is actually a pretty good card. i wish i could still find it. and the HD 6000 series cards are great. same goes for hte Bulldozer series. i can run skyrim no problem on ultra at 80+fps with my GTS 450 and AMD fx 4100 bulldozer (oc'ed to 4.6 ghz but it doesnt alter performance all that much on skyrim :P)

@Blurtex33 FALSE, do your research before making comments like that, skyrim settings (360/ps3) 1280x720 25-30fps medium settings, low view distance (gaming pc) 1080p 60fps+ ultra settings, full view distance. Plus bethesda released an official high res texture pack for the pc version this week, so if you couldn't see the difference before you sure will now. You should look at full res side by side screenshots not at youtube videos. I have skyrim for PC and 360.

@WoYaTzar I doubt it would take up that much space. It would probably be very similar to Crysis. The way games like that load is that they load up macro detail when in the overworld. You don't see the micro detail until you get up close to something.

They didn't get what they paid for, and neither did PS3 gamers with the game running like one-legged cat in some instances. So yes I will compare them, because pc optimization doesn't matter. What does is that Skyrim was poorly made.

@Trojan9514 I do play the mage role, always have, and yes the magic combat has improved to be as good as it can be, given the expanse of spells one has. But what about people who want to play stealth, or the warrior role? Neither of those has improved at all, other than dual-wielding and perk trees. The mechanics are still awful. They fucked with your brain with the first gameplay trailer. Everything reacted when you hit it. Then you try for yourself, it's Oblivion's static combat.

@ZsHouseProductions Well it has to run on stupid old consoles with 512megabytes ram total for video memory together, what do you expect? Games like Rage with streaming dynamical streaming textures you get on these! And bad console ports for PC later with same streaming texture shit, giving you a real viewable "streaming of textures" experience...
It's a shame that consoles rule the game industry just because they don't want to invest in new technology and graphics!

I've said before that I get that people would be annoyed by consoles having outdated technology, but there isn't anything that can be done about it. Most people don't have the technical know-how, or the cash to build or buy a gaming rig. Consoles are necessary. If they didn't exist, we'd still be playing Frontier - Elite.

@ZsHouseProductions Actually I've proved that idea wrong in previous comments, a DX11 "Gaming capable computer" can be built for ~400 this is a system centered around playing BF3 on High in DX11.
Another area where you're a bit flawed is on the hardware. You seem to think most people have console power PC's. According to the Steam Hardware Survey Results. DX9 and older cards only make up 6.29% That means that 93.71% of peoples cards are either DX10 or 11. Xbox is DX9

@ZsHouseProductions So my point, in short, is that the PC gamers aren't holding back any part of the Industry, with 93.7% of cards being either DX10 or 11 (31% DX11, 48% DX10 and 14% being DX10/11 on XP) and the average computer having 4 cores and 4+GB of RAM they're a lot more powerful than the consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if the "average gaming computer" right now is still going to be as powerful if not more powerful than the "xbox 720" is going to be.

@SubaruHyena You're over-exaggerating what I'm saying. A gaming capable computer can be built cheap, but one that will last a while can not. If you want one more than capable, that is. And I didn't say most people have console-level PC's. I understand the price point. It does not break the bank. I'm saying that consoles are not only cheap now, they're convenient. Like I said, most people don't have the technical know-how, nor the patience to build one themselves.

@ZsHouseProductions Hell yeah there would be more PC optimization if it was the only platform being coded for. And I'm not over-exaggerating what you're saying. The ~3-400 gaming computer will last just fine and will ALWAYS be capable of playing games above xbox 360 level quality.
Consoles:
Convenient: Yes
Cheaper than they used to be: Yes
DX10 or 11: No
Outdated: Yes
PC's aren't hard to build, but there is ibuypower and others out there to build gaming PC's for people.

@SubaruHyena And who's to say that Bethesda wouldn't have made the exact same game, even if it were pc only? It isn't just consoles. The world isn't so god damned black and white, no mater how much one wishes to whine about consoles destroying the industry. If we lived in a world of gaming rigs, and it, somehow, was still filled with 1000's of games to choose from, more releasing by the second, there'd still be plenty to whine about when it comes to "optimization."

There are people out there with gaming rigs that can't run today's tech, pc gamers like most of the people in this comments section, and are they holding back the industry because of 5 year old tech? Its easier to make better graphics because its a story line, and the multiplayer is just maps. Skyrim is open world and its not scripted, anything can happen at any time.Yes you would think they could be better, but, consoles hold them back
