  • Shallow and vile. How true of the whole show...

  • I look forward to the Sex and the City sequel where the women die alone in their apartments and get eaten by their cats.

  • Hilarious to see spammers trying to promote the sequel when the original has been eviscerated lol. I can picture SJP standing behind them at their computer screens and flogging them to leave more comments and thumbs ups.

I look forward to the Sex and the City sequel where the women die alone in their apartments and get eaten by their cats.

  • New Sex and the City 2 was leaked at SATC2Watch(.)tk Its so great im watching it second time

  • Sex and the City 2 is freaking awesome i just saw leaked version at SATC2Watch(.)tk so great

  • Go, Geezers! Not many Youtubers will understand you, but there are enough of us around to appreciate that you know what you're talking about!

  • watch and learn my friends!

  • Comment removed

  • I loved the show - even if it was shallow - it had amazing writing! But the movie was very weak!

  • I was really glad to see SOMEBODY putting into words just how vain and self-obsessed the show/movie is. Our generation sort of sucks sometimes.

  • Yeah I LOVED the show, but the movie was terrible. Shallow and bad dialogue.

  • movie was amazing!

  • great. no corporate shills. the real deal. these 2 are great.

  • You geezers get it wrong most of the time. It's totally avant-garde to critique every sociopolitical aspect of a movie, but you are totally ignoring how the movie makes people feel. If you are watching a good story and you are moved by one aspect or another in the movie, that's what really counts. Movies are to be enjoyed as fantasies which remove you temporarily from the stark reality in which you live. It's not a presidential debate. Relax and enjoy it!

  • you're reaction is typical.

  • lmao metrosexual...hahaha

  • I love your film commentaries ....but, with this film, (a shallow imitation of the series, but still enjoyable to me), the real points are ...the last liberation of women sexually who are today, finally equals, and the friendship/intimacy of women. BTW they all have careers, it's simply not a major part of the plot, (writer, attorney, publicist, art curator). So there :)

  • This movie is like a retarded shallow relfection of feminism that basically implies consumerism and having sex is what feminism is. There is no intellectual, emotion or spiritual depth to any of the characters.

  • OMG they are simply great........

  • This is bullshit. How can you say that just because a young woman likes the SATC movie means she doesn't care about Iraq, politics, or world issues. That's bullshit, don't stereotype and generalize women who enjoy that show or those characters. Get a grip, its entertainment!

  • If you listen, she doesn't say women who like Sex and the City don't care about such issues, she says the women *in* Sex and the City don't.

  • i'm feeling naughty at the moment Q

  • do i look like linds lohan?

  • No you dont, betch :3

  • I never liked the show...and yes I do agree...these women are totally superficial and do not represent women at all...

  • Actually I would be very interested in what you have to say on just everyday experiences(going to the zoo, a pub, etc). LIVE life stop watching so much television and movies life is wonderfull live it. The best movies come from everyday people living their lifes. Not movie stars

  • Oh now that's just silly. Life IS all about the movies.

  • Yes darling keep on feeding your children this regular dose of violence sex and drugs and see where your society is in 15 years. Which by the way is already pretty disturbing! Yea and life is all about movies!

  • Very Very wise

    But dont stereotype

Everyone is a unique person if like to dress nice, good food, romantic etc do not limit your self to a label people are more than that. (metro sexual) this is why I left america. Italians are like this, Mexican like that, Black like this.

And there is no such thing as double standard because men and are completely different beings you can compare oranges with apples.

  • Love 'em! Tney cut through to the chase and bring an authentic and clear perspective sorely lacking from some of these over-analytical movie critics.

  • Excellent points. Is this really what feminism has devolved to? Aging, shallow, shoe obsessed sluts? It's scary to think that young girls see these floozies as role models

  • You hit the nail on the head! The movie was a disgrace and the characters were disgusting self absorbed a-holes.

    XX, Gay

  • I completely agree with you. This movie was absolutely one of the biggest "let downs" I have ever experienced. I was a fan of the show, but you made a genius point in saying that the movie allowed us to realize just how vile these characters and the entire premise of the show was and is.... Jerlins

  • reel geezers is the most entertaining things in the entire universe. i wish lorenzo and maria could comment on everything that happens in my life: the sun going up, the temperature, etc.

  • For the first time, I completely agree with you.

  • I personally dislike Sex and the City (I find it boring) but I will have to disagree with you guys on this one. You have to understand that this is a pure fantasy-fluff-escapism movie... it's fulfilled that aim well. It's not *supposed* to address the real world, or issues like vietnam, the president or iraq. The whole point is that it is a cheap fantasy.. it's never pretended to be otherwise, so you can't criticize it for not being realistic. But otherwise, I totally agree with you on theissues

  • Okay geezers, I hear you talking about "women are ashamed of being women" simply because they were thinking of themselves. The question should be: Why do women ALWAYS have to think of everyone else before themselves? I applaud this movie and look forward to seeing many more movies of strong women acting like men have been acting like for years.

  • The geezers of this generation are the ones we should be listening to, but they are mostly silenced by the media and entertainment industry and basically left for dead. Instead we raise our generation on Madonna, Sex In The City, The View, Miley Cyrus and wonder why we are such a selfish self-absorbed generation.

  • Juliet from Dell

My son Richard forwarded Reel Geezers to me -- glad to see you're still going strong.

  • "They don't care about anything... They don't care about Vietnam." 5:28. Hahaha!!!

  • "this is not about careers, this is not about making in the big city... this is about sex!"

I wonder why it's called "SEX and the city"... :/

I can see their points of view, I wouldn't like it much either if I never watched the show and was 80.

  • Lol, that's what I thought.

You know I read an article by Newsweek (oh yeah, because I actually keep up with news and Sex and the City....see geezers, you can do both) and they said a lot of the criticism of Sex and the City was sexist which I think is so true.

If you're trying to find something wrong with the movie, like the characters don't care about politics or the Vietnam war (okay???), please do that with all the movies you review.

It's unfair to put this one under such a microscope.

  • True. I feel that there is a double standard for how women should behave, and that's unfair. If this movie had been about men, it would have gotten a review of "oh how silly and charming these bad boys are" etc. and not a shame-on-you message. But I do understand that the reviewers' background and generation informs their opinions, so it makes sense.

  • Thank you! Finally someone with a little sense!

  • Fun and cranky. I love all the booze bottles in the background.......

  • Yes!! The soft core porn aspect was very disturbing. I thought they threw in the horny neighbor, Charlotte dumping in her pants and the dog just to appease the men that got dragged to the movie by their girlfriends. I loved those characters and did not want to see Mirandas pubic hair or nipple!! It is like walking in your mom in the bathroom. Everything I loved about the series was missing in the movie!

  • apparently you only watched the edited tbs version of the series.

  • I love you guys!

  • Thank you! Finally someone is telling the truth about SATC. What a load of crap that movie was. All the women who've gone gaga over it seem to be saying that they're happy to see 4 selfish, whiny, overprivileged, materialistic, UNFUNNY bitches prove once again that misery loves company. Only a twat could find those 4 twats endearing. Thank you!

  • Wow, I'm amazed at the devotion of some of these SATC fans (lighten up!) I think their critique and commentary is wonderful--if you agree or not. Nice job, Geezers!

  • steve tells her because that is how he is! you missed the whole shock of him cheating on her because throughout the entire series he's miranda's puppy dog! omg your review is useless because you're analyzing it as if it were meant to be a separate film. this isn't like any other movie out there, people were obsessed w/the show and it ended relatively early because they didn't want it to get stale, so this was just for the fans of the movie!

U cannot critique something ur grossly misinformed of.

  • well, they obviously didn't watch the show. much of the comedy and situations were kind of inside jokes that could only be appreciated if you watched and loved the show. if you didn't watch the show, you'll either love it or hate it.

Also, the show and the movie is not about the children. the children came in at the end of the series.

Also, the film isn't about the big world and politics, also the series did feature taking over man's business as a woman. the film was only to give an ending.

  • I'm sorry! Your commenting on a movie that you don't even know the meaning of. The meaning of the movie is love, and the ending of a wonderful story from the seasons. The so called "horrible dress" was supposed to show people that fashion is not everything, it is who you are on the inside. I absolutely deteste this review.

  • *falls out laughing*

    Thanks for the review.

  • I love your reviews!!! They're interesting, witty and provocative. I look forward to each new posting. And the reviews work so well because you've kept your approach "viral". I'll bet you've turned down network offers to do something like this for them. We all know they would make you churn out junk we don't care about. Hoorah for you to staying here with us on Youtube!!

  • best geezer review yet, fuck sex and the city

  • Women love it because it shows hugely successful, intelligent women discussing things taht all women deal with. They don't need to talk about careers or politics because they are so well established in their lives. Women connect to the topics they discuss, yet yearn to be so successful and strong and dominant in their professional lives.

  • Watch out, Mr. Lorenzo declares to be a metrosexual in this one! lol

  • "The girls don't care about Vietnam..."

    Nice one, Lorenzo.

  • This review did more than "tell it like it is" it was eye opening for me. <3

  • A fantastic insight!! Great review.

  • sooooooooooooooo true! you guys are great. i'm a 27 year old girl and i didn't like it.

  • You guys are THE BEST.

  • I completely agree, I love you two

  • 5 *****

  • People enjoy this movie because the women in Sex in the City live like rock stars; they have the appearance of money, buy "stylish" clothes, and have sex with whomever they want. There is a growing rock star entitlement movement within the younger generation. They're living beyond their means trying to keep up a Paris Hilton image on a 5-digit salary. If the economy continues on its path, they will have the hardest time adjusting.

We should value only what we want our children to value.

  • What bothers me, is that everything seems to have to have a deep and meaningful meaning, or lesson or it has to have characters who are good role models... what ever happened to just being entertained??? I loved this movie because it entertained me, and there was still intense emotion etc....

  • Thanks, Reel Geezers, for bringing back sophistication to movie reviewing.

  • this is a great review. some very good points made. its great how social commentary is still alive and kicking, even when discussing a film such as this

  • What an awesome review! Thanks for bringing it back to reality for those sex obsessed consumers who think this is the end all and be all of being a woman in a city.

  • "they didn't kow anything about Vietnam" HA HA HA HA !!! Awesome. Lorenzo is the shiznit! (That means best) For those who don't know he always complains that for her to like a film it has make a point about Vietnam. This is the kind of wit that makes your reviews so much fun. Keep it up. :)

  • I think they did a great job again with the critique. I loved the tv show, but even for a fan like me, the movie was beyond dissapointing. These women just looked vapid and selfish, not urban trendsetting hipsters.

  • Thanks, saved me some money. You two are a treat to watch and listen to.

  • Loved this.

  • I absolutely enjoyed the movie. I assume you can't appreciate it as much if you havent been a fan of the series. Discussing the love for the family and things like that was all covered in the series so going into this movie a lot of the fans watching already know these characters backgrounds and what they've gone through to be who they are in the film. I dont think they are meant to be female role models, just relateable as the title clearly explains what its about "Sex and the City".

  • i'm disappointed that this movie did not meet your high standards. i really want to see this movie, but i've been very worried that it would be bad. the show was good and talked about careers, love, dealing with success/failure...etc. but you're right, never politics.

  • The final line of the review sums it all up..."Why waste 8.50 on this movie on a Saturday morning when you coulds have been shopping.."

  • Amen.

  • Good review. As much as I like beautiful clothes, I'm not interested in the movie, although I don't take it as seriously as the pregnant Cincinnati woman actually had her doctor induce labor so she wouldn't miss the opening.

  • Agree totally!

    Good review!

  • Hahaha -- Lorenzo describing himself a metrosexual.

  • Thanks for the warning!

  • I agree that this was a BAD movie, but only because it was far too long and far too unfunny. The women were unlikeable, but it doesn't matter whether they are decent role models or not.

  • Best review so far! You guys are Absolutely Fabulous.

  • You two are on the money

  • I am so bummed because I usually love the Geezers and this was just WAY off base. How you could rave about Superbad and be offended at bathroom humor in this one-- really? REALLY?

And I actually said to a friend that the bathroom scene made me laugh. That is bathroom humor for women. Not loud noises or gross visuals. Just the horror of running back to your room and pursing your lips-- classic!

  • Marcia did NOT rave about Superbad. Anyway, the bathroom humour was only a small part of this film. It was way too long & way too rambling. I thought Lorenzo was spot on, can't say I necessarily agree with Marcia's right-on politics though.

  • I just cannot get over the sexism flying around here. When we watch James Bond do we start lamenting the status of men? Seriously. Bond was all about new cars, gadgets and ESPECIALLY new women, sometimes several per movie.

But are we wringing our hands at the consumerism, casual sex, his inability to form real relationships? NO!

There was a lot I admired about the SATC women. And a lot I didn't admire. But it shouldn't make you ashamed to be a woman.

  • Agreed. It seems as if women like the characters in "Sex and the City" lack self-respect.

As a woman myself, I can say for sure that these women don't act like women.

  • You geezers are hating. What did you expect? 'Sex' was in the title, not Iraq and world affairs.

  • Come on, you guys! You took this way too seriously. This is a frothy, fun movie and most of all about the love between the four girls. No one expects them to discuss the Iraq war and current events. Lighten up! It was a good way to spend 2-1/2 hours and it didn't make me ashamed to be a woman!

  • I'm a feminist and believe me these type of women are as non-feminist as they come. They're not female role models.

  • You could say a lot of those criticisms about men as well. You take your time and get to know a person. Not all men are violent pigs and not all women are shallow airheads. Some guys/gals are, culture helps perpetuate it. The paradox of all social change is that society must change for people to change at the same time that people much change for society to change. We all do what we can. If you get into a relationship with someone pathetic you have yourself to blame for not being more careful?

  • They nailed on the head!!! I love it!! I was so amazed at how bad it was!

  • i love that Lorenzo's a "metro sexual!"

i really loved the t.v. show when it was on because it was about a woman taking charge of her life and not measuring her self-worth on her relationships with men (because most things last longer than love...like fashion, friends, and the love for the city you live in). the movie lacked this theme. it regressed to being about the men in their lives and not about the women's bond with each other.

  • Pretty funny you mention wasting $8.75 when you could have been shopping. . .you sound like the girls you detested in the movie.

And you fail to comment on the theme of friendship. The love affair is between the girls; the men are secondary.

Finally, lighten up! We all know people don't pack boxes in Prada and Gucci...the clothes are fun to look at.

  • Uh,I think that was meant as a joke. It's called irony.

  • I know what irony is. . .my point is that the reviewers gripe about the shallowness of the film, yet they work in Hollywood, one of the shallowest places on earth. Now that's kinda ironic, too.

  • So true! I intensely dislike the show and the characters.

  • I think you two are just the cat's meow. Loved the review thought I havent seen the movie as yet. You're probably right, but it's definitely just a confectionary piece that would have been just as well a 'movie of the week'.

I'm still going to see it and hope to be entertained.

  • This movie is about women's relationships with each other and with the men/children in their life.

Why on earth do you expect this movie to contain some serious discussion of the Iraq war!? Did you expect that of dude-romp comedy Superbad-- NO!

    This review reeked of sexism:

"The women weren't hot enough. They weren't good enough mothers. They were too shallow and only cared about clothes."

You missed the mark big time.

  • It did. People digust me. Period blood vs. crapping pants. AT LEAST the same level.

  • Loved the review!

  • "Sex and the City" is "the opium of the lasses." Tyra Banks style shallowness.

  • Bravo! You guys make good sense. And with "no bullshit!"

  • plese do a review of the new hulk movie

  • Thank you for trashing this trashy, shallow movie.

  • Ha! Surprisingly unimaginative!

  • Great review! Love you guys, keep the reviews coming :)
