Fuck Elvis. I will always consider Jerry Lee the king. Know why? Because Jerry paid proper respects to the other kings (Ray Charles, Chuck Berry). Elvis just gave them pennies from his millions.
@bloodandwhiskey5; BULLSHIT! Elvis Respected and Admired alot of other Musicians, White & Black and whenever they were in the audience at his Concerts, He would always acknowledge them to the audience, have them stand up to be seen and take a bow. He was a good friend to alot of them! Do you friggin research before opening thy mouth and inserting thy foot!
@CashPresley32 Elvis, Johnny Cash,Carl Perkins, and some others all toured thru out the South together in the early years of their careers. '54 - '56 They were all good friends
Great video. Jerry Lee is in fine form. Playing, singing & LOOKING amazing. Don't blink tho or you'll miss his shoulder shimmy and Killer grin @ 2:24, & you don't wanna do that. Thanks for uploading.
Jerry Lee iIS great, and he truly is The Killer. Acccording to several investigations, he killed not one, but two of his wives, but couldn't be proven due to the fact that he practically owns the whole county he lives in, including the law.
A slower version of a famous song by the Wild Man from Ferriday, LA, this song was recorded by dozens of artists. But Jerry Lee always gave a song his own brand regardless of who first recorded it! Go Jerry Lee!!
i'm sick of hearing about the bad in people all we talk about is child rape by berry @ jackson fuck ya'll ... if they didnt make the music you people would have no rythem
bitches every body sucks ass now thats why the worlds ending everyones a duchebag including me thats why its over way to go everyone we couldnt of had the greatest thing that ever existed in the whole outer space here on earth
that is fact watch chuck berry's dvd...hail hail rock n roll...interview w/ jerry lee lewis. he said chuck kicked jerry's ass and told jerry that chuck himself is the king of rock...
@buscapleitosNo1 what's also really interesting is that Angus Young of AC/DC talks about Chuck Berry as being a major influence...not what you'd expect...but it attests to the importance other musicians place on Chuck.
I think there is only one king of Rockn'Roll but a lot of pioneers: Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley,Little Richard,Jerry Lee Lewis,Bo Diddley,Fats Domino ...
There has been much talk about Jerry and Elvis and their young b brides. I married a 16 year old girl in 1963. I was 20. She died in 2006. We were married for over 43 years! I did not know that Jerry's 13 year old wife had divorced him.. I DID know that his sons had died tragically. I thougt I knew almost everything about Jerry and Elvis. I guess I need to do more research; but, I still believe that these two performers are the greatest that the world will ever know.
sorry to hear about you wife. age is a number. My parents use to tell me girls use to marry at age 12 a long time ago ,but also they was much more mature for there age back than.
By 1981 when this was filmed, the wife he had married when she was 13 had divorced him, his two sons had died in tragic accidents, the IRS had confiscated everything he owned for back taxes, he had been jailed several times for drug and alcohol related crimes, and sued many other times. He's a survivor and one of the greatest stylists ever.
I agree. No doubt about it. But too me great music overrules most things. What artists does in their sparetime is not so important to me.
I read somewhere that the name "the Killer" is not coincidental. Jerry Lee actually killed a person. I have never checked if it's true. Does anyone know?
No, it is not true. It's just more propaganda against Jerry and nothing more. He used to call people killer, as in he'd say to them "hey there killer". Eventually the name stuck to him imstead. Pretty harmless.
@ddayson I understand that he was called 'Killer' because he would 'kill' the show. His performance would get the croud so hot and fired up that nobody would want to go on after him because they could not get them as excited. So he 'killed' it for the other performers.
as I mentioned before times were different and social attitudes of the time more importantly were different. To say pedophilia is wrong in any decade is going a bit extreme. Pedophilia and any sexual exploiting of children is abhorrent. What Jerry and Elvis did was very different. They loved these girls, they didn't exploit them or chase after any other 13 year old girls. So maybe you can stop knocking the personal lives of 2 of the greatest musicians this world has and will ever know!
great example of the effortless way Jerry Lee could take a song and make it his own...i LOVE Elvis but the dude down below who would take his version over Jerry's must have a tin ear but, more importantly, a complete lack of understanding of Jerry's unquestioned prowess as a MUSICIAN and song interpreter for which he is far underrated!!!...Early Elvis was unparalleled but he lapsed into singing a lot of songs later that were just wrong for him. Jerry Lee could make ANYTHING his own.....
no one can sings this songs the way Elvis sings it, after all his daughter's name is Lisa Marie.this songs fits Elvis only.Sorry don't get me wrong , Jerry is good too
Elvis' version was ok but I like the oringal best, Elvis smoothed it out a lot (too much I think, made it too ballady,, but that was where he was heading at that time i guess). Jerry Lee has sort of countrified it but the fact is that thdy are all good in their own ways, so maybe we should just enjoy them for what they are.
re Johnny Rivers - all chuck's songs were solo compositions but many were credited to certain jewish music in-crowd people. They owned music shops or studios, whatever. Berry gets hopping mad about it.
