I have difficulty liking this. To my ears it lacks the dynamics and emotive feel of the classic versions. Cocker almost saves it but in the end it's too OTT. If you can get past that, and clearly quite a few have, the show is well put together and the band very tight.
This was the opening to his concert during his world tour in '92, I was lucky enough to be at the show in Melbourne Australia and it was truly fantastic. I love Joe, he never tried to be something he wasn't.
all star band..all star performer..what's not to like!! Saw him live at least a dozen times and I will go whenever he is within 300 miles of my house. His bands are incredable. I dare a singer of today to even step in his shadow...They would immediatly blow up!!!
This guy should be in the RocK N Roll Hall Of Fame. He can outsing most of these modern day phonies in his sleep. He is the real deal, and a rock icon. Cocker Power!!!!!!!

@joewyche Yes, his voice is unique !!! But for me there is another one I personaly like to compare with - and that´s Janis Joplin. The same kind of voice, expression ... what ever ... just that perfect difference between male and female.

Cydney, I have replied to you elsewhere. You and Maxine were awesome. I got strange looks from people near me coz I was all the time singing along with you and MAXINE on your vocals rather than Joe's. And I love the way you both put so much energy into these performances. In my opinion JC needs strong vocals alongside because of they way he 'rides above' the song, so to speak. Night Calls tour was an excellent demonstration of this.
Thank you. Every song of Joe's requires full voice and full concentration. "Help from My Friends" is one of my favorites. That arrangment is a pure rock anthem. I hope you enjoyed singing along with us on that one. And thank you so much for the encouraging words. That Joe Cocker is a GREAT VOICE is obvious. But I got kind of spellbound by your voices like carusmike. I always loved strong voices, mainly Black voices. Jessey Norman rocks. Louis Armstrong rocks. And you Cydney and Maxine rock. I am glad to say "person to person" that you are FANTASTIC.
