You have to use a Solid Stat Drive in it, Format it with FAT32, run Win Xp on it and its Blazing Fast,,, boot time is only 18sec and I got 1.5GB Ram now and just disable Paging file once you have 1.5GB

its not hard, if u wanna change ur OS you just get the bootable cd/dvd, format your hard drive, boot it from the cd/dvd, install the OS and there u go

It's a great little computer. I upgraded to Vista and installed a 4gb readyboost card and it runs very smoothly in aero. It has all the stuff your computer has because it runs windows, just not a dual core CPU.

Yes I'm extremely aware of that.... thats why it's a netbook, most netbooks don't have those they add to the size of the computer too much. All of my music is in the form of .mp3 files on my hard drive and all of my DVDs are ripped to movie files. I just moved my media over with an external HDD. No need for an optical drive.

Yes! It's just perfect! You can do whatever you want that has do to with the internet! You can even play some old games! You can watch movies ( i tried also HD 720p but it's not quite up to the task. The problem's that the sound doesn't always syncronize with the video but that's not going to make an HD impossible to enjoy). You can listen to stereo music as it has 2 speakers but i highly suggest to buy some small external speakers , or headphones! This is a nice thing to have on ur desk!

Lol at the people that think these are meant for applications. Netbooks arent made for applications, these are made for browsing the net on the go. So don't complain about speed when you have 5 programs running at a time, especially if you're running a game or youtube.

If your looking into these get the Acer Aspier One AOD150 instead of AOA150 Its real nice to use and cheap i picked it up for 349.99

plus the screen is 10.1" instead of 8.9"

I bought one of the acer aspire one's with the 160 gb hd. i have yet to find anything this lil laptop won't do..oh wait..no touchscreen but really..is it THAT big o deal?. besides there are mod vids out there you can put a touchscreen in one of these. :D i game, fairly vid intensive,& this baby has come through with flying colors. i love it. i am hoping i can afford to get each of my kids one by christmas. sweet lil machine it is! my desktop pc is gathering dust big time.

I beg to differ. I have owned mine since January, it is the Linux 120GB HDD version. Within an hour of having it, i wiped linux cause linpus sucks. So now i have it running with 1.5GB RAM, and quad boot it using Vista Bootloader. My OS's include OS X Leopard [iATKOS OSX86], Ubuntu Jaunty Jackelope, Windows XP MCE 2005, Windows Vista Ultimate, with aero working. It's absolutely superb, it plays GTA extremely well. So what the hell are you on about? It is also dual core and cost me £179

It's useful for lots of things.

This is not meant as a primary computer. It is meant for people who have a more powerful desktop at home for the big stuff, but who need a very portable computing solution for on-the-go.

It's powerful enough to do MSOffice applications and paperwork, as well as internet stuff and audio/video. It can play older games.

But mostly, it's SMALL. So it's easy to carry pretty much everywhere. Even though the 10s are out I'm still eyeing the 8.9 due to the size.

$229.99 Refurb. And it is mint. I asked what refurb to THEM meant. Basically it's overstock from other places like Walmart that they buy back for a cheaper price. Mine is minty fresh. I love that laptop.

I got one for 160 GBP - 160 GB of Hard drive space, it has a 1.6 GIG Processor. The item is about a month old i.e. It's second hand & came with the box and everything else & a 6 cell battery which I thought was excellent. OS on the Acer One is Linux Lite which is fast & works well however it really hard to install a basic codec you know to watch movies & shit.. I have XP Pro on my main PC rig and it does ten time more than the Acer but for that price and well made note book I'm happy with it.

I have this exact model & color Aspire One looked at here and I got mine in early August of 2008 just when the HDD/XP version became available in the U.S. It was $420 then and it costs so much less now. The netbook has been working great since and turns a lot of heads at campus with it.
