  • how well are you rinsing with flannel after doing ur OCM?

  • If you left it on your face that will be the reason why you got clogged up. As it was hot the temperature would of reacted with the oil left on your face. Try fully removing it each time and then tell us whether you still get problems. Good luck :-)

  • So what do you use now other than castor and olive oil?

  • this is so true! i think this is why my face has been breaking out! So what do you use for the summer months!?!?!?! HELP!!?? lol

  • i'm done using my face as a testing ground for oils. it can destroy your face and people will say it's purging! try new oils! but..you don't have to walk around with a destroyed looking face everyday.

  • This OCM that I tried for 1 week has given me the worst acne I have ever had! I have been putting turmeric paste on it and they are smaller and some have pus, which usually means that they will come to a head. I will never use this again. I have never felt so bad about my skin :(

  • I have dry spots/areas too

You can use a baby toothbrush and gentley exfoliate your skin, then use the OCM.

If you have excess oil or cannot seem to get the right amount off I use a gentle soap. It doesn't dry out my skin since the oils act as a natural barrier.

  • Your videos are very helpful! thankyou ♥

  • cool bro

  • good video! your videos are always very informative

have you ever tried washing your face with aloe vera or honey? i tried honey and it was pretty nice

  • I'm happy I found your video. I just started a raw food diet (I hope for life!) yesterday. I'm glad you have your website too. I like it and the topics you go over. Just thought I'd say thank you for getting important and interesting information out to everyone. Appreciative it!

  • I live in Holland during the summer (now!) it does reach temperatures like 25 - 30 degrees celcius. I have normal to dry skin and i have acne. Can I use it? Im getting kinda desperate with my acne.

My brother is 10 years old and is slowly getting into puberty and we have acne in the family. He's getting a few clogged pores but not cystic acne.

What can I use to prevent his acne? I dont want him to go through the hell im going with my skin. Exfoliation? & what more? PLEASE reply!♥

  • What carrier oil did you use?

  • You mentioned that you would massage the oil in and just wipe it off... with the OCM you have to "steam" your face with a washcloth. This takes about 5 minutes and allows the oils to drawn out impurities from the pores. :)

  • ty. good to know:)

  • yep lol im breaking out frm this method and wanna try it again i dnt wanna abbandon it

  • So, after a few days so far, the OCM (1X per day) seems to be healing my cystic acne but the rest of my face is indeed breaking out with white heads. As of today, I am trying to just oil cleanse the cystic acne parts of my fact and keep the oil off the rest. Will see how this works. Frustrating process!

  • I love your accent! :)

  • I think the important thing with OCM is to find the right oil combination for your skin. My skin has dry and oily patches and I've found that 70% castor oil and 30% grapeseed oil is the perfect mix - castor oil is less heavy. Also I add a tiny amount of salt which helps exfoliate and prevent pores getting clogged. I recommend anyone using OCM to do research on the individual properties of each oil and tailor make your own mix.

  • visit the weston a price foundation. They will have more info on why you have had so many skin related etc... problems. It's really not on the outiside... It begins on the inside.

  • You might want to use oils as a precleanser. Follow with a mild cleanser or toner to remove excess oil. And you are done! If you have dry skin try a gentle cream skin cleanser afters. St. Ives cream makeup remover and skin cleanser is very mild, or you could use Cetaphil. If you want to go completely natural, then you could follow with a rose toner infusion. Pick a few ingredients you like (that cleanse) and mix them in! Aloe vera, Witch hazel, rose hip oil, orange or lime, take your pick!

  • i agree .. hottie

  • I love the OCM, it really helps prevent (and clear up when I'm lazy) breakouts.

As to the clogged pores: owch. The OCM site recommends you only properly clean your face ONCE a day though. In the morning you just splash with water and go. Just doing it less often might help with the clogged pores. And maybe doing it, like you said, just a couple of times a week in the hottest part of the year. Adjusting the mix may help also.

Still, glad it even partially worked for you!

  • hottie.

  • I use the shu uemura oil cleanser everyday. I have to say, not knowing how to use oil cleansers can be pretty damaging to skin. But have you tried using an extra gentle cleanser after the oil cleanser? I found the oil cleanser to be the only effective product at removing ALL of my makeup and clear my pores, but I have to also use another cleanser to remove the excess oils left by my oil cleanser. I hope that helps. Have a nice day!

  • are you meant to do your normal cleanser after the ocm?

  • luckily, i live in london, so no problems for me ^^

thanks for the video, though. it'll definately come in handy.

  • what? america what?

  • ...huh?

  • you have clear skin

  • I'm going to try this method. It feels like it's going to work for me. And, to anyone who might read this, don't be fooled into thinking that OCM only works for people with dry skin. I've been using EVOO as a pre-cleanser/moisturizer for 3 days, and my skin, which is normally an oil slick, isn't oily anymore. Do some research; oil is the best way to get rid of oil! Because the EVOO has been working for me, I'm going to try using it, with Castor oil, as the OCM and see if it works for me. :)

  • I have very oily skin as well. Please tell me exactly what your OCM is.

  • Please tell me how it worked out with the castor oil because im about to get some for my hair but i would like to use it for my face as well if I can.

  • @Pooki70729 hey you still using EVOO and doing OCM? how did it work out for you?

  • isnt olive oil comedogen? i mean it causes blackheads anyways???? or am i wrong... lots or mostly all oils r comedogen (if i m not wrong....)

  • I just started this, doing it once/day in winter. I always do a rinse with honey after the OCM. Maybe that would help you out?? Otherwise thanks for the heads up! I was wondering how it'd be in the summer. I'll tread more carefully after seeing this.

  • I have a very dry and sensitive skin too. And I really want to try this since I saw your first video about the OCM. Do you think it's safe to do in Winter?

  • thank you so much. for those people who have questions about whether or not applying the OCM to oily skin go to this link: The Oil Cleansing Method . com (with no space of course) where youll find lots of good info. this method can be used for all type of skins; if u have dry skin then use less castor oil if you have oily skin then use more castor oil than olive oil. Go to the main page for more info it really works
  • I like the oil products and find pure evening primrose oil with vitamin e really nourishes my skin. A side benefit is my lips continue to be plump even well into my 50's. I often hear compliments about the shape and natural plumpness of my mouth and it's down to the EPO and Vitamin E. I just pin prick a couple of capsules and lavish it all around my mouth. The down side is I need to watch my pores, but it hasn't presented too much of a problem.

  • This is what I have recently learned. If you use a washcloth, the best cloth to use is a face chamois. On the youtube search, type aveda shammy. Check cleverlyme video. I posted a comment there with some more info I found regarding the chamois material. If you're using oil based products to clean face, always remove with the chamois or a disposable cosmetic cotton round. Several companies sell facial chamois, just do internet search.

  • There exist two possibilities to make use of castor oil: externally or inwardly; she has selected the external use.

In the case that she would choose the internal use in gulping a good dose of castor oil, she would have the chance to cure their problem without damaging the skin.

  • I used OCM for two and a half months (January-April, quite cold months) and it completely clogged my pores. It helped with my acne, but I got really red skin and some kind of rash and the texture of the skin was really bad, especially on my cheeks. I've been using it for so long because I was hoping it would get better, but it didn't, so I stopped and now my skin looks better, I am really gentle with it. I don't know if I did something wrong with OCM or if just isn't right for my skin.

  • The same exact thing happened to me recently. Except, I only used OCM for two weeks. It seems like it clogged my pores all at once, too, because I hadn't noticed any clogged pores until one morning. Then boom, it's like every pore on my face was clogged, and it was all rashy looking. I really don't think I did anything wrong either...I followed the instructions on The Oil Cleansing Method Website. I do have a question though, how long did it take your face to clear up after that?

  • It took quite long, about 3 or 4 weeks to get kind of a normal look.

Now, so many months later, it's really good.

  • ooh, okay, I was afraid of that. The tiny bumps are going away for me as well, but it seems to be taking it's time.

  • @gold12e hey so did your face clear up? if so, how long did it take? I seem to be in the same situation!

  • You have pretty cheek bones and I love your hair color. But I thought you were going to cry at first lol. But great testimonal. I'm defientally going to give this method a try.

  • I have oily skin and acne on my t-zone as well as white heads. Would you recommend using the OCM for oily skin? Im really scared that it will make me break out even more.

  • Type Oil Cleansing Method into google, theres lots of topics about it.

    It's good for oily skin

  • I use the DHC cleansing oil which is olive oil based and it rinses clean because the water makes it emollient. You can also follow up with a secondary cleanser to make sure you do get rid of all the oil after cleansing.

  • why does i got new breakouts and the old ones secrete white thing or sebum?

  • This might sound stupid, but do you 'steam' your face after rubbing the oils in?? I've only used it for 4 days - and I'm in love! and regarding the clogged pores - what if you cleaned it and steamed it really good to unclog the pores? May it work??

  • Aloha Fran!!! Sorry about my screen name if it disturbs you... Lol

Anyhoo, i got a question to ask you... I live in Hawaii and the temperature here tends to be 88 degrees (at most), and i need to know the temp. there in Australia when it gets hot to see if it's the same as it is in Hawaii and if it's safe for me to use the OCM (cuz i'm thinking about using it cuz the Proactiv thing is as you say "evil!")

    Mahalo

PS: do you know if humidity has anything to do with causing acne?

  • Ooh Hawaii! I'll be staying in Hawaii for a week at the end of this month :) know any good hotels?

The OCM is tricky, it's either really great or really bad so you need to use it with caution. Yes, it did clog my pores and I'll never use it again, but for other it unclogs them so go figure.

The average temp here in summer is around 88 degrees, but it can get very humid. Supposedly the heat and humidity were not a good combo for the OCM.

  • No, humidity doesn't cause acne. Actually sweating is very healthy - it removes toxins. Just make sure if you sweat a lot because of humidity you wash your face twice a day to remove any bacteria that may be sitting on the surface of your skin.

  • Hahaha.... yeah i should start sweating more often.... thinking about to start going to the gym soon, but cuz of college i have no time

Thanks for the tips, and hopefully i'll have success with the OCM

As for hotels in Hawaii I suggest about looking at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa @ Waikiki... that's the only good hotel i've been to that was very good

Hope you'll enjoy your stay here in Hawai'i

    Aloha and Mahalo!!

  • @WeirdWrath17 I live on Maui and I use the OCM. I haven't had any problems with it. I just started with a 50:50 base of EVOO and Castor oil, then I added more castor oil in small amounts until my skin didn't feel too greasy or too dry.

  • i ve extremely oily and sensitive skin, n acne to boot.i started the ocm n continued it for about a week. then i had to go on tour n couldnt do it for about a week. i usually have trrible breakouts on tours, n this one was no different. only, now i have painful zits and white heads to boot. so like u said, i think i gotta cut down on the castor oil which may be still lying under my skin - tho i actually use an antibacterial facewash after ocm to prevent any secondary infection :)

  • Hey, I'm so glad I found your videos! I suggest you try Jojoba oil. I have REALLY sensitive skin too. I heard great things about jojoba, so I tried it and it has really helped me with my acne. Now it's the only thing I put on my face. Jojoba is SO light and non-comedogenic. I even use it as my moisturizer (just 4-5 drops for my whole face). Great stuff. =) Thanks again!

  • @siminona I agree. My face seems to get spots if I do so little as LOOK at a new or different skincare product (ok so I'm exaggerating but you get my point) and yet I can safely & confidently use jojoba oil w/out incident. It's very affordable as well! (always a bonus right?)

  • Very interesting...I live in a very hot but usually BONE DRY part of the world (Phoenix, AZ and I havent used it in summer yet) but I have oily skin and I use it twice a day and it works GREAT! I used it recently in Hawaii and it still worked great...I guess it all depends on skin type and how you remove the oil. I always use a hot washcloth to remove (it exfoliates as well) and my pores are very clean....Good luck in the future tho!

  • yeah I think I have SUPER sensitive skin that reacts to just about anything I put onto it. I think I also didn't take enough of the oils off which was probably my biggest mistake. That's so good that it's working well for you :)

  • hey fran, great video...very helpful tips...i don't have a bad bad case of acne but i do break out a few here and there from time to time..i wanna give ocm a try as soon as i can find caster oil...where would it be sold at?

  • You can find castor oil at pharamcies or online. If you're in the UK you will have to buy it online.

  • Actually you can get it from pharmacies in the UK. I know at least Boots have it, you just have to ask over the counter.
