  • wow...i still remember this! :D this makes me sooo happy that i found a part of my childhood here! :D

  • It does have charm. :) The psychedelic colors really bring this to life. I miss the days when computers/internet were not the center of our universe...

    Wonderful as always <3

  • @ashantifan1224 thanks, I think it's bad that we're abandoning the tactile part of life.

  • @laughingsal Yes, it's very sad. I'm glad I grew up during the 90s- what I like to call "the last of the old-time days," because those were the last of the days before internet(and other technology) took over...

  • wickedfeylady, that name sounds familiar.

  • Is that Ken Page singing? It reeeeallly sounds like him

  • When was this? I don't remember this one. I stopped watching Sesame Street at the time these animations were discontinued (: Also, I started growing up ):

  • @herzenverbrecher It was one of the last ones I did, done with a computer which I barely knew how to use. I'm guessing 1996, since my first computer was windows 95!

  • I think his name is Fuzzy or Roary (because he looks like a lion to me) and have you seen the Michael Jeter version?

  • the animation I can't remeber really, but the song is TIMELESS to me!

  • what did they tell you?

    you're fired? :O

    anyways what is he called?

  • This really is my favorite animated bit EVER! Thanks again so very much for postint this!

  • wow that makes me feel happy! thanks!

  • Cool work Sal, ever though of doing your own animated movie?

  • I went to more meetings than there are bathrooms at 20th C Fox but nothing came of it.

  • Oh, sorry to hear, well when I make it big in cartoon I'm calling you to be on my cartoon team! :)

  • Stuff it spoot head! >:(

  • What?

  • I was talking to a hate comment

  • That is SO cute.

I wish I would have seen this version as a kid. I remember hearing ernie. I would have preferred the cartoon version as a kid.

  • I think one reason why people may not have liked this one was not because of the quality of the animation, or anything that you did, but because people remember the original song where Ernie sings it, and think that this could never hold a candle to their nostalgic memories.

  • that makes sense. glad I don't have to say your screen name three times fast!

  • Hey Sal. I was watching Sesame Street this morning and they played this sketch. That's awesome, they're still playing your work.

  • desperate for free content?

  • Maybe, but I believe they aired this as early as 2001.

  • If CTW doesn't like your animation, screw them. Sesame Street's been hijacked by an infantile red Muppet anyhow. They're not good enough for work of this quality anymore.

  • The wonderful producer I worked with on all these shorts, and who hired so many animators in the 90s, was Arlene Sherman. She got reassigned to Sesame St. specials, and then, sad but true, she died last year.

  • I'm genuinely sorry. :(

  • This guy should get together with Ernie to sing a duet. I think Bert would move out. :)

  • I am actually new to Sesame Street...*yeah crazy i know* but i really fell in love with your stuff sally, your so talented.

  • Thanks for all your nice comments. Your screen name would work well for a race horse!

  • Whoa! The roll effect at 1:20 - 1:23 was unexpected. destabilized my gyro for a second there. Kinda fun ... in a Top Gun meets Pink Floyd kind of way.

  • I'd go check that but I can't stand looking at it, at least not today. Hold on to that gyro, pal!

  • Yes,yes,yes!

  • This cartoon is awesome. I especially love the part with the tap-dancing sheep.

  • The sheep are my favorite part too, thanks.

  • That version of this song is my most favorite! Thanks again so very much for posting this! Come to think, it reminds me of a funny, yet intersting dream. I heard this version of the song, and after that I heard a voice, which sounded a bit like Dog from the cartoon CatDog, that kept saying "Naptime!" at the end of each sentence it said.

  • cute!

  • popasmurf23, thanks for all your friendly and cheery comments.

  • I'm telling you! This is absolutely, definately, positively one of the best vids you ever posted, and that's the truth!! Anyway, thanks again so very much for posting this! I really enjoyed it!

  • glad you enjoy it so much. hope it helps you sleep!

  • I thought this song was from Ernie?!?

  • excellent work! i feel like dancing myself to sleep too, lol!

  • Wow! That was really great!! Come to think of it, this version of the song really gives me the urge to sing and to "dance myself to sleep." Anyway, thanks so very much for posting this video.

  • Thanks Beatles AmiYumi

  • Ha Ha! Sorry about the typo at the end. What I meant was I'm so glad you posted this video. Thanks.

  • Wow! That's really great! I really like this version the best! I'm you posted this. Thanks!

  • 00:17 HAHAHAH

  • Do you got part of the whole?

  • It's linked on my channel-- I don't have it myself, though I animated it.

  • Thanks, MagicMystic.

  • Continued...

Do you think the quality of the animation had anything to do with CTW's lack of further interest in your stuff, or was there just some change of tide at the company that you had nothing to do with? You had such a good track record with them. How did they feel about your work with them in general?

  • Thanks for all your nice comments, LukeWehner. The producer changed, got bumped upstairs I think, and animation schools were producing so much cheap new talent: I think they wanted something new. (And I was cheap too!)

  • First off, let me just say how much I appreciate you putting up all of these great pieces, and how awesome I think it is that you're doing this (I mean honestly, you're Sesame work is famous to anyone who grew up in the 90s)

  • laughingsal, did u animate the exotic number creatures? that was my favorite number animations

  • I did a number series, but I don't know how exotic they were... describe them. Mine looked sort of like African masks, sort of...

  • in this one i am talking about, a bunch of things turn into numbers. some did look like African Masks. most of the numbers have eyes on them. Number 4 looked like it was on a kite. Number 10 looked like crying eyes, number 3 looked like it had a fishtail, number 11 looked like it had a mustache. The video is called "exotic number creatures"

  • thanks for pointing this one out. Yes, I did it, but never made a vhs copy of it, so couldn't post it on youtube. I just have a 3/4 " tape. Sally

  • And by the way I like this version. That's awesome that you have a youtube account. You were one of my favorite animators on Sesame Street, and I remember your animations very vividly. It's great to see this.

  • Who's singing?

  • I believe that's Kevin Clash, but I could be wrong.

  • Well, thanks. I think it was actually that they started going in different directions. Not sure if they still commission full animated songs.

  • That stinks that CTW wouldn't let you do anymore animations for Sesame Street all because of this song,I actually like it as much as the origional Dance Myself To Sleep by Ernie.

  • But he didn't even sing "And thank you lambies!"

  • It's weird looking up something that has nothing to do with Youtube Poop and seeing someone who makes Youtube Poop commenting on it. Rock on!

  • That's nice to learn- thanks!

  • Sorry to hear that this was the last Sesame Street piece you did!

Whether or not CTW liked it, they DID use it on the show. It appeared a few years ago during the week a hurricane was staged on Sesame Street, along with a couple others. All the cartoons were worked nicely into the plots of those episodes!

  • This wasn't bad at all!

  • I like this one the best but i think since ernie sang the original, they should've had a lady sing this version to make it a bit cuter.

  • Ouch...it's a shame this one got you in trouble with the Workshop; it's decent work, even though they may not have liked your changing a song already written for a Muppet sketch. Better luck next time you work for TV!
