  • What a load of shit this turned out to be.

  • Still no A-eon AmigaOne X1000 is shipping, it hasn't even gone to beta testers yet, even though A-eon took over 700 euroes apiece from them last year. What a ripoff! I hope the beta testers put together a class action lawsuit against A-eon.

  • for resurrection we need low cost Amiga in the megastore shop, ideal price 499 euro. Millions of people can purchase this

  • @ematech

    AmigaOS 4 netbook next year

  • This X1000 from fly-by-night "business" A-eon doesn't have anything to do with the original Amiga from the 80s made by Commodore. Luckily Commodore is still around today and is planning a new official Amiga, you can find out more at CommodoreUSA d o t com!

  • @MrAmiga1000 So, what OS will these boxes from CommodoreUSA run? AmigaOS 4? - Nope. Nor will they run MorphOS or AROS... Because, these boxes are going to run some Linux distrib. and Windows :o - So, what these boxes really are is PCs :O

You might as well put an Amiga sticker on the box you have under the desk, and there you got your own very official Amiga from CommodoreUSA, almost for free!!! :DDD

  • @MrAmiga1000 Actually Commodore aren't still around, CommodoreUSA is just a fly-by-night business that's using a similar name under licence, their "amigas" are nothing more than keyboard-pc's with the name slapped on them. The X1000 is the real deal, proprietary hardware for AmigaOS, hopefully it will actually see the light of day

  • @MrAmiga1000

Sad, that you not see it. The Amiga was not a baby of commodore. Commodore was just there lifesaver. It has to do with the spirit. And the spirit was hold over all this years by the same hard core guy´s who are so good that they are limited only by technology. Or otherwise. Hardware is the basis of the software. The Spirit of Amiga changed to A-eon. Serves Jesus and not Bal.

  • @jsuttonus

Ahahhahha, spammer! In your dreams, that is just a sticker on the case!

Quit spamming real Amiga pages and try that stupid tactics on some Windows pages

  • I love the concept of the Amiga. I still own 2 Amiga 1000s, 2 A3000s and an A4000. I awaited new Amigas for over a decade. So here's my 2 cents, bear with me. With the advent of Windoze XP and Mac OSX, AmigaOS lost most of it's appeal. It was a crime that the best OS was allowed to become relegated to the first REAL operating system, but superseded. I support the "heart" demonstrated here. It "could" even be a decent alternative to the 2 existing relevant platforms. Good luck!

  • @CostcoDog Adopting x86 could have kept the price reasonable. Using older Macs could have kept the price lower. I own 2 PPC Macs now, and they are fine machines. OSX was the logical choice for me after Amiga. I believe that the best scenario is hardware + software produced by the same company. But Mac has done a pretty fair job of it. Although your battle is uphill, I still am rooting for you, the rag tag remnants of a bitter, stupid battle for the Amiga. Courage! Best of Luck!!

  • And here it is 2011, the A-eon website still reads “Available late 2010″ and still no X1000. The betatesters who deposited upwards of $700 still haven’t even heard anything. Nevermind hoax, this is turning out to be a full on scam!

  • This is a nice idea but how on earth is this going to compete with modern day pcs? What software can run on this and who is supporting it? I read the OS can apparently run 20-30 times faster than a pc - what does that translate to in reality. E.g I'd love to run Ableton on this as its slow as fuck on a pc so what's the gain other than using a different OS?

  • @coolshit28

Ableton isn't slow on a mac (2.4GHz dualcore). I even use Logic and Ableton synced per rewire cuz with Ableton you can easily browse samples while running the track and you know that ableton syncs the marked/DragnDroped sample automatically to the current speed. Btw, i would definitely buy a new Amiga but i doubt Ableton would release a Amiga version of Live, atleast not in the next 2-3 years. Maybe i should stop by at Ableton & kick theyr asses since they're located here in Ger. :D

  • very nice :) anyone remmeber the X68000 :P that was limited to japs and became the development platform for the arcade industry maybe this is the next step.

  • @flibflop It was 25 years ago. The game has changed.

  • All the way up to 1997 I was a die-hard-I-will-never-buy-a-PC Amiga fan, and though I use a PC today I still think it's a shame the Amiga didn't win the race. Such a wonderful, brilliant, and cozy machine, years ahead of it's time! While the idea of choosing each hardware component -as is the case for PCs- provides some flexibility, it really can be a compatibility-nightmare when developing software (especially games). I guess the best computer unfortunately doesn't always prevail - UNTIL NOW :D

  • Sounds like a hoax.

A new computer launch & nothing running? save a for a few slideshows? Used to work for Commodore Amiga, multimedia-wise- we were kicking PC's and Mac's butt. Is this how to wow potential customers? No! You knock their socks off, & show what this `bad baby' can do better! This sounds like an Amiga club putting out an elaborate hoax. Look at the new Amiga site, it's a screen that asks for your e-mail. Nothing more. Sigh.

  • Anyone know if this will be backwards compatible with old Amiga 68k software or peripherals?

  • Good point at the end , remember when computing was fun and the old amiga was just that FUN! Thing is if it does make a come back how will it compete or compare with consoles like xbox and ps3?

  • AmigaOne X1000 specs: Dual-core 1.8GHz PowerISA™ v2.04+ CPU "Xena" 500MHz XMOS XS1-L1 128 SDS ATI Radeon R700 graphics card 2GB RAM 500GB Hard drive 22x DVD combo drive customised case, keyboard and mouse 7.1 channel HD audio Ports and connectors: 4x DDR2 RAM slots 10x USB 2.0 1x Gigabit Ethernet 2x PCIe x16 slots (1x16 or 2x8) 2x PCIe x1 slots 1x Xorro slot 2x PCI legacy slots 2x RS232 4x SATA 2 connectors 1x IDE connector JTAG connector 1x Compact Flash
  • cool thing... lets see what will happen.

BTW what is the sound/music called in this video?

  • @frankyknife Dark Freeways

  • 68K

  • ddr2 slots???? I think I'll pass, we are at the bring of ddr4! Not so innovative there, aren't we?

  • I was born in the same year, 1985

  • I'm really looking forward to the release of the new Amiga. Here are a few ideas I have that I think would ensure the success of the new Amiga..

A chrome option. Base unit, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, midi keyboard, graphics tablet, etc all coated in chrome with Amiga branding.

A small seperate LCD touchscreen used for launching applications, games, media and system settings keeping the desktop free from clutter.

A low powered laptop/pad/pod edition that are waterproof and wall mountable

  • This video is dumb

    .

Tells me nothing about the machine. A customizable "Xena" chip? What's that mean? An FPGA perhaps? That's nothing special.

  • Nice, but past experience has taight us, "when really availiable".

  • Sorry but the website, all the design will not sell a single machine... realy thats specs are not high end!!!

  • @tommyjones1978 What is your own credibility to say that sir ? We all know that every website is a "work in progress", but if you know a little bit of the tormented Amiga OS history, you also KNOW that the guys behind it delivered a lot these past years and helped the community / platform / OS to survive. If you're not interested, pass and let others be enthusiast for you. :) Peace.

  • @Switcher1972 I just make a comment... i working on marketing for several years, and in this kind of launch you have to use marketing very well if you want to sell, and get some credibility on the market... is not i´m saying that, its a market need... thats all... peace for all...

  • @tommyjones1978 Oh wait, now you're suddenly work on marketing too....lol, you're such a clown.

  • @tommyjones1978

For current PowerPC hardware availiable anywhere, they are.

2 core PPC + Xena, do you know any other board with this specs?

Do not compare it to x86 world, that is other CPU architecture,

    quantities, cheap production etc.

  • @vojinvidanovic79 Ok, but as a consumer, i cant see that comunication avaliable.... you have to comunicate to consumer, not for experts in the industry the buy people are not the experts of the industry are ordinary people and Amiga fans! So try to make a good presentation with all specs. my tip is a light comunication brochure with all the things very simple...

  • @vojinvidanovic79 continue>>>...kinda blend marketing: a brochure with some info and a link on the vbrochure with the website with all the info on the webside to interact with. comparations etc... its just my opinion you foloow if you want... if you want some tips PM me and we can talk! Im glad to help you out! no problem I´m a Amiga fan to! :)

  • Interesting. If only it was X86 based. :( Hopefully there's a Windows emulator avaliable to draw people into it.

  • The website looks cheesy and the videos look cheesy. Might want to put some effort into it if you want to sell some machines.

Why not have a contest and get users to make these for you. Some very talented people out there.

  • The new website is up, check out :D

    a-eon [dot] com

  • give it a year maybe 14 months then it will just die after selling maybe a few hundred boads to hobbists..there is no market 4 it the PC unfortantly is king

  • @drbilly100

The PC is "King" because of morons that think Windows and the x86 architecture is the greatest thing ever, when in fact it's not. The x86 architecture reguardless if 32-bit or 64-bit is old technology circa 1970's. In reality we can do everything on a, for example, Commodore 64, that we can on a modern day PC, except for 3D gaming, seriously 3D gaming and fast video/audio encoding are the main difference functionality wise between the "classic" systems and modern systems.

  • lol!

  • X could be many things:

    eXravagant

    eXpensive

    eXtortionate

    eXist? not yet! ;)

  • The cost is rumoured to be 1500 euros. There is dual core Titan 440 running at 800MHz and custom case.

  • @xorxos77

Titan 440? Someone's been on the Exfuze again.

  • @xorxos77

Hmm... 800MHz, are you sure? I'm not, let me quote from the A-eon site "For reference, our designers have been running the cores at 1.6GHz during thermal testing, but this isn't the exact nominal clock speed."

  • @xorxos77

...and now the new website states, "Dual-core 1.8GHz PowerISA™ v2.04+ CPU".

  • ETA realise?

    Estimated price?

    Will SAM be sold afterwards?

  • Excellent, well put together.

If you don't mind we will put a link to your video on the A-EON website.

  • @trevordick1

Thanks, I don't mind at all if you link :)

  • OK thank you. Website will finally be up in the next couple of days. (At last)

    TrevorD

  • @trevordick1

    Great, at last a website!

    Marko S

  • So, a week later, where is it?

  • @trevordick1

What website? The one that was going up tomorrow, a week ago?

  • Likely before summer.

  • Wow! When will be the new machine launched? That is really great news that Amiga will have a new powerful and modern plarform! Cheers!
