  • Jackie Chan is the beast, I've heard. Sounds good. Also, this sounds really good in Mandrin. Usually other languages are hard to get used to when you have heard it so much in your own language.

  • @faithm No they're not. I never heard this movie in my own language (romanian), and yet I perfectly know it in english and french. And other songs too!

  • @OakiLory I meant for me :) I mean they sound wrong. What I meant was more specifically the language you heard it in first. when I said "your own language' i had assumed that people would hear it in their own language first, most of the time. woops :)

  • ok this i'm just not used to at all (not hating). The only mandarin version Disney movie i grew up with was the lion king. every other VHS we bought was mandarin hardsubbed while having the original english dialogue

  • bellooooooooooooooooo

  • so interesting to see so many different languages expressing the same thing

  • First time I hear this. Just great, thank you for uploading!

  • Who is the voice of Belle in mandarin ?

  • Omg thats how Jackie Chan sounds in Mandarin.

  • Jackie Chan as beast is simply the most amazing thing...ever!

  • she sounds older

i like the english one better :P

  • Chinese versions of disney songs out shine most of the time the original english versions.

  • jackie chan is ( the Beast ) true check wiki

  • who sang this songg?? hahahas.

  • The first time I watched this was in Chinese. xD I love it still

  • ...and, yes, it is not proper to use these words in lyrics.

  • Fairly nice translation except the last line was completely off o_o;;

    "There maybe something there that wasn't there before" was translated into "These kind of things maybe just doesn't exist." The English was talking about how there may be some kind of warm feelings that's starting to grow between Belle and Beast that can potentially be love... but the Chinese was saying these kind of things just doesn't happen, that it doesn't exist o_o;;

  • @SablePhantom: I think it's a irony use in Chinese. Since Beast is a beast, and Belly is a beauty, and it's almost impossible they would fall in love with each other, but however, by the context, it did happened. And the manner of speaking would be like "Wow, it did happened!"

  • Ouch, the name should be "Belle", sorry for the typo

  • @CornGuo The Chinese when put in context with the rest of the lyrics it was saying "who can predict, who can imagine, maybe it's a dream but it had happened--a beauty who had fallen for a beast. (we can) Only wait, a few days more, maybe this kind of things just doesn't exist."

  • @CornGuo Basically the usage here was used to say maybe they are seeing something (the budding love) that was in fact never there. So in this usage they are being pessimistic and doubtful and denying what was happening instead of the original English being optimistic and hopeful by pointing out that the love was slowly growing.

  • @SablePhantom: Yes, literally translating the words is just having some negative meaning, but sometimes we use negative tone to express how surprised we feel or how wonder thing is. It's said in a joking way, not pessimistic nor doubtful.

  • @CornGuo Don't get me wrong. I do understand Chinese. However even when said in joking way the words used here can easily mislead people. I merely feel there is a better way to translate the very last line since they had translated the rest of the song so wonderfully without losing the meaning when compared the to the original English. If they can do such a nice job for everything else, surely they could have done better for that 1 last line.

  • The second part

  • hey guy did you know thath jakcie chan who sing =P

  • mandarin's the official dialect of Beijing so no, cantonese didn't derive from cantonese.

I speak mandarin and can't understand cantonese, cantonese has more tones( 8) versus the 5 or so in mandarin.

Guandong wa( cantonese) is used in Canton and Hong kong and is the official dialect of those areas.

  • but cantonese isn't that difficult is easier to understand than the dialect in Shanghai for example

I'm a chinese also and i speak mandarin too and BTW mandarin is not a dialect, Beijing has its own dialect mandarin is just the offical language in China but not everyperson can speak Mandarin / Chinese

and Bejing dialect on its own is different from just mandarin!!

  • It may be easier, but it's still a different dialect and as such if one isn't originally a speaker of Cantonese they're not going to be able to understand it. Personally as my parents are Taiwanese and I am not a native mainland speaker of mandarin I can't understand cantonese but understand spoken Taiwanese to a degree.

As for mandarin, standard mandarin is based on the Beijing dialect of mandarin but no, they're not exactly the same.

  • i can speak cantonese and i'm learning mandarin. i think using cantonese when learning makes it easier.

does it not work the other way?

  • What happened to the Cantonese version? :o

  • Yes, yes, post "Belle" in Chinese on Youtube!!!!!!!

  • Someone posts the song Belle in Mandarin please!

  • is there a mandarin version of "belle" on youtube somewhere?

  • I love to listen to Mandarin Chinese, it's such a beautiful language. I'd like to learn it someday.

  • I love Chinese versions, it's so perrty.

<3 Mandarin forever, over any other language.

  • its nicholas tse who provides the singing voice of beast anyway, jackie chan does the rest.

  • Nicholas Tse rerecorded the Beast's singing for a TV version, but it was Jackie Chan in the original dub. I'm pretty sure this is Chan.

  • It does sound like Jackie Chan. : D I love him!

  • Hoe vet is dat?!?!?! Wahahaha! in 't Chinees! vote for The Fluffergirls! they are the best

  • In Mandarin Chinees?? xD :O

  • NI BUN DAN A!

  • How close minded...

    Seriously grow up.

  • Jackie chan has the voice to the beast, and he is great! ;P

  • chav

  • belle's voice is sooo beautiful :D

  • Does Jackie Chan really do the Beast's voice? It sounds too young to me.

  • no in this version, the beast's voice is not Jackie Chan. it does sound younger, and its just not Jackie's voice.

  • i dnt even think it sounds like him young or old

  • Did you know that the chinese beasts voice is Jackie Chan? True!

  • Yep. I really notice it already.

  • The Beasts voice is good but it's too soft.

  • Could somebody put up the lyrics? I would be very thankful :D

  • her voice is amazing ^.^ The beast does sound a little young but I think that their voices compliment eachother

  • Ahhh!! The chinese beast just doesn't have a deep enough voice to be a beast >.<.

  • Well, actually if you watch the original Beauty and the Beast, during this song, Beast sounds younger. ^^

  • Jacki Chan is his voice

  • chip sounds so cute!

  • What's the diffrence on Mandarin and cantonese??

  • O.o...mandarin is suppose to sounds a lot smoother.. can you hear it? cantonese sounds a lot rougher.

  • Well now that you are mention it....I can hear it ;o)Thank you!

  • Yeah you're right. Although her voice is deeper, she's a lot smoother and good at handling the notes.

  • or is it mardarin that was derived from cantonese... or maybe they were derived from another common point...

  • nope,mandarin first

  • YES.

  • can you put the cantonese version up? her voice sounds so much better!

    thanks

  • Does anyone have the lyric to this song?

  • WOW! It Sounds Really Good! Her Voice Is Soo Clear And Smooth. His Voice Is A Bit Funny, But It Still Sounds Awesome ;o)

  • i love mandarin & cantonese
