Nice Per-Olov, Sor deserves to be played with gusto. I am trying to get back to the classical guitar after many years away, and enjoying your videos. Thanks
Excellent work, man. I'm looking at the number of views you've had on this and I'm sure I'm at least 100 of them. You did an outstanding job at mastering this one.
I can t listen to Sor on guitar I find him dull unless you are outstanding at interpretation and can bring lots ofcolour and interest. I can listen to this player endlessly. Superb, inspiring and able to make me re think anout F Sor ! Oh and awsome video quality too..that doe nt just happen by accident. A real crafts man all way round. Simply brlliant.
Awesome! I had forgotten about this piece. I think I played it as a young guitarist (and by played I mean got through it). Great to hear it with such emotion, and to watch it played with such spirit and correct technique. Bravo.
@CourtneyHiltonnnnnnn Thanks for your insight as well. I will be open minded when it comes to the topic of nails. I will try both methods. I would love to see you post some videos my friend.
Absolutely beautiful. I am a fan of Sor's studies as well. One question, is your guitar amplified in any way in this recording? I ask because the instrument sounds amazing and I'm wondering who made such a beautiful guitar. Keep posting my friend, the world needs more people like you these days.
My dear Per, so much of us know you but you don´t, ha. You´re so famous now, i remember the first days of youtube... I´ve learned a lot just by watching your videos, and hearing your sound of course.
I just have one thing to say: thank you, thank you, thank you for the inspiration.
@AndanteLargo Mr. Kindgren I started classical guitar a few months ago and I have a beginner Yamaha C40 as my guitar. My left hand technique on this piece is decent, but the right hand staccato is troublesome for me. I have been producing this very thin plastic like tone along with a clicking sound from my nails when I mute the strings. Can you give me some tips on how you produce that full tone without any external string noise. The guitar itself is important, but I know the player is much more
Hi. I cannot 'teach' you here on YouTube comments but I can give you a fast tip. Keep your nails as short as possible. Not more than 1 mm. above the finger tip!! And use some sand paper (grade 1200) to polish them. Also when you mute the strings, use the flesh under the nails, not the nail.
Secondly, use as small movements as you can when plucking the strings.
@AndanteLargo Thank you sir. That is actually the kind of answer I was looking for. I wasn't sure which nails produced a fuller tone since I have long nails. I appreciate your feedback very much. I always will love your music and cherish the inspiration that I recieve from listening.
great :] I have to play this piece for my class do you have any suggestions on how to go about learning it? I mean for example going through it playing just one of the notes then two etc or just the three notes all together?
Hey Per-Olov... you mentioned a Tarrega study that you warm up with before you play other pieces... what study is it? Thanks in advance and thanks for your music! John
Hi there John. I planned to post that looooong ago :-) I never came around though...
Karl Scheit published Tarregas complete technical studies at UNIVERSAL EDITIONS (UE 14431) It is no 50 in that book. I consider making it available at my web shop soon. I am sure it is also on the web somewhere.
I used to think Peter White was the best guitar player God has put on this earth. However, I am now convinced that Per-Olov has been annointed by the Holy Spirit. I am inspired to do good deeds.
I had a hunch that you'd be a professor. You're too good to not have studied at that level. You are amazing. I hope that one day i might be good as you.
Hi! No, I never did... sorry. So many things came between. I moved to Sweden and went to the USA and Englend for 2½ months. Now I might do that Tarrega piece... I will try but no promises.
My son was a Dutch soldier in Afghanistan and got wounded at his right hand. We both play the classical guitar. So it was a disaster for playing. But now he is still playing very good even with his handicap. We still like and play our music. We like your performances on youtube very much. We learn a lot just observing you technic.
Thank you for that.
We wish you and all the NATO soldier guitarists a very Happy New Year.
I've been looking for a good rendition of this study for quite some time, but I knew it as Study #9 from Segovia's Sor Study book. I'm sure glad I found your recording! This is excellent!
Hello my friend,,only a virtuoso can play with that dexterity,,,there's something special in your music, and make my life very pleasant,,my respect and best regards....
Last night I was informed that I will be playing for a crowd (anywhere between 20 and 3000) in two weeks, so I set out to learn a new piece. Your interpretation is *amazing*, thank you very much, as I have incorporated some of your interpretation into my own playing of those two.
I showed this to my dad tonight, saying "I can only wish I could play that!"

I know it's Fernando Sor born 1778 Barcelona and died in Paris 1839. I know how to play an Etyd by him. Without You, I haven't even think about it. Thanks, your Music is Wondeful !
