that reminds me of when i was little in the late 80s. i was in my first stage production when i was 4 and i also won a prize for being the best dancer in my class. i carried on for 10 more years but the talent wore off. i now have 2 left feet and i'm riddled with arthritis at the old age of 36. it's so lovely to see a video of a little girl enjoying ballet instead of some of the russian ballet school videos i've been watching where the girls are sad and scared.
I LOVE IT! OM STILL YOUNG BUT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I QUIT BALLET FOR HIP HOP AND I WISH I COULD DO BOTH BUT I AM JUST HAPPY DANCING ANYTHING AS YOU WERE
@alejandro6113 You're 12 and better than a 4 year old? Congratulations. That's a big achievement. When you're 20, you might be almost as good as a 7 year old. Keep up the big dreams <3
@srosello84 Before insulting someone, learn the proper contraction for "you are." It's "you're." I love when stupid people show their stupidity when attempting to insult others.
people who make fun of this video should be forced to do what you did and lets see where i gets them..... I'm 12 and I'm probably no where near as goodNOW!
Wow! If you're 4 years old and can remember all this you have to do: respect! And it's nice too!! When i was that age i was a bit standing on my toes and turning the wrong way whahaha!
I think this is great! I just watched a video of some 6 year old in Russia doing double pirouettes en pointe and it made me sick to think that they put girls en pointe soooo early! This video is EXACTLY as a 4 year old should be. Bravo!
Well I only knew her as Miss Rosemary. If my Mum were still alive I could ask her..I will look her up in Mum's address book,as they kept contact thru the years after we moved back to US. I don't remember Rosemary having any children, guess she never brought you in.I was 17 when I quit...I studied with her from age 5
How is your Mum?...she was a wonderful teacher....gosh that was 45 years ago when I quit!...time flies!
@travellingrrrl Lol, Rosemary wasn't my mum, she took over my mum's dance school! I don't think the time frame is right for it to have been the same one though. My mum's school was the Jill Proudfoot School of Ballet :)
@belindaw Oh..no...I went to The Royal Academy of Ballet.. affiliated with The Royal Ballet School of England...wrong school lol...but my teacher was named Rosemary lol
@SpaceHagenees Totally wrong :). I wasn't made to dance - I nagged my mum every day until she let me dance. I was also never made to practise. I loved dancing and would practise without any coercion of any type. I was a little perfectionist and this was my first competition, so I was nervous and wanted it to be perfect, which may be why I looked a bit scared at times, but there was never any pressure from home. My mum supported me in whatever I did, but I was always the driving force.
@Gymcat415 'fraid not. This video was filmed in September of 1987. I was born in February of 1983, making this the September before I turned 5. I was always tall for my age. There are videos of me when I was 7 uploaded too, and you can tell that I am older than I am in this video.
i have sooo much respect for this girl! she is only 5! wow, and don't listen to the bad comments because she is still young and way better than some people can do!
Delete the bad comments, they don't come from true lovers of ballet. I didnt start dancing until I was 16 and you were far better at 4 years old than I was at 16! It's a lovely video, and really age appropriate, credit to your teacher. You had superb port de bras for aged 4.
Very refreshing to see a young lady dance ballet...parents need to encourage this more...I guess the people who voted thumbs down think that this is to boring and not trendy enough' I think it is wonderful!
i danced for 16 years, started at four and danced through the 90's and yes we didnt wear tights either, unless we wore both the tights and the socks until like 6. Georgeous video brings back nice memories!
Love this music - you are so cute! You wanted so badly to do everything your teacher taught you! Your mom must have burst with pride and been so nervous for you too!
I thought it was soooooooooooo good for a 4 year old and don"t listen to bad comments cuz they don't know what dance means to you!!!(ps i am a dancer too:))
This is so cute haha I always dreamt about having a tutu like that! Can't believe you got one when you were so young! I had to quit dancing before I made it to pointe and the tutu lol
This is the most beautiful and talented little girl i have seen for her age. She is so talented to be able to do this solo without any mistakes and with so much grace. ADORABLE!!!! CONGRATULATIONS LITTLE GIRL. You might be grown up now, but you are a delight to watch. My little grandaughter is only 20 months old, and one day I looked for ballerinas and found you, she wants to watch you every day and is learning all your steps. We have been watching you for about 4 months now. THANK YOU !!
@lucyjan2010 Awww thank you <3 I'm so glad you and your granddaughter have enjoyed watching it. I hope ballet can remain a common interest with the two of you for many years. Dance has an incredible way of bonding people :)
I am blown away that you did a solo- a solo that's relatively complex for a preschooler- at 4-5 years old. I see all the other videos with 4 year olds in a line, watching their teacher to model their part.
I am so impressed.
I also hear that you're a primary school teacher (from another video of yours) awesome career!
Belinda, please delete the neg comments, I dont want to have to hurt nobody. This video was adorable, priceless. I hope you continued your studies. I dont know of any four year olds with that much coordination. skill, talent! Kudos to your teacher and choreographer!
ah! so cute! and honestly, I didnt think it was possible to be much better than that at five in the first place. until I saw the videos of Lada Sartakova.
Beautifully done, she has unbelievable muscle development and control for her age. She will be a prema for sure. You can see her core skills at work, at a critical stage here, best of luck for a bright future I hope to see more of her in the years to come.
@sdfsdfsdfsdfsdfdsish I have no idea! I put this up to show my class, as they love seeing their teacher as a little girl. I didn't think for a moment anyone else would want to see it!
My 3-yr-old daughter, who is eager to start ballet lessons next year, asked me if you have a prince. Please answer for her. Thanks--and sorry to have read in your discription about all the nasty comments. Unfortunately, there seems to be no limit to the abuse that follows anonymity on the 'Net.
@KalosSkopeo Hi there :). Unfortunately, no I don't have a prince! However, since (I assume) she can't read and you will have to read this to her, you are more than welcome to tell her whatever you think will make her the most happy ;). I hope she enjoys dancing when she starts next year <3
@kiwi20chan No, not dancing any more :( I got up to Intermediate (which is now Advanced 2, I think - all the grades changed once I stopped dancing) and then got really sick and had to stop. I taught dance for a few years and now own a theatre company and do some choreography for that, as well as teaching the dance group at the school I teach at :)
This was a truly adorable almost-five-year-old dance! And I'm impressed that your younger self remembered the whole piece; I definitely did not have a memory for dance pieces when I was that young.
@bulg0gi I grew up in a dance school, so was watching girls dance from the very beginning. I knew everyone's dances and couldn't wait to get started myself! I was very disappointed with this dance when it was finished. I apparently said "is that it? No pirouettes? No arabesques? Not even any embiotes?" I wanted to do the 'big girls' dances ;)
Wow you did very well at the time and yuo were only4 years old ! What a beautiful dance ! I'm a dancer myself, i have been dancing since I was 3.5 years old and now I am 13 years old ! I am taking ballet this year so I can start my pointe tranning as soon as possible. If anyone has any tips or ideas that can strengthen me in ballet I would like to know. I would be very appreciative for that. I also love to dance because when you get on that stage you can just let go and express yourself !!!!!!!
@VeronicaForeverAlone Yes, I used my spare time to practice CGI to make it look as though I danced when I was 4. It was a productive use of my time....
This is really adorable. To all of the people complaining about how it was boring/poor technique/whatever - For GOD'S SAKE, SHE WAS 4. And she was doing it because she loved to dance, not because anyone was making her. That's really truly the only way to dance, because you want to.
@GammaBunny101 No, not pointe shoes. I didn't go en pointe until I was 11. I had such hyper-flexible feet, that I just didn't have the strength for pointe before then.
Is this TOO CUTE, or what!!? Simply Adorable & not overcoached! We all need to be more tender w our comments about wee ones on UTube. My daughter used to bounce & spin around the living room just like this! Moscylyn Larkin(TBT) was too busy w full-length ballets & teaching to bother w them most times. Sadly, I have no record of these sweet first beginnings. This is like capturing your own sweet 'inner child' on film forever. Cherish it! I would! Even LOVE THE SOCKS! & how u tippy~toe offstage!!
Aww this is cute! It's lovely to see a young dancer who looks age-appropriate and whose dancing shows that it is their joy and not a pushy parent's! My dancing school had children in socks until they were 9, we weren't allowed tights before then. We also had set leotards for uniform, we were in pink until we were 6, blue until we were 10 and black after that. I love how you look like the kind of dancerI remember at that age, rather than the modern ones who are pushed too far, too fast.
wait people are posting negative comments to this vid?wtf?this is freeking adorable, and in my opinion decently good for a 5 year old. people these days, expext perfection right away out of a kid.
@megahorselover24 READ THE DESCRIPTION! SHE SAID DO NOT TELL HER TO TO WEAR TIGHTS! THIS WAS MADE BACK IN THE 90s AND SHE WAS 4 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE SIS THIS! SO LEAVE HER ALONE!

I hope she's not wearing pointe shoes! But cute!
GammaBunny101 3 months ago

No offense, but I can kinda tell it was filmed in the 90's on occasion...
But that's one muscular 4 year old! This is great, and cute ^ ^
abruhaha 3 months ago
@abruhaha Why would I take offence at that? It was filmed in the late 80s, so it's not surprising that it looks old...
