The ladies who have practiced ballet in the video (Kanako Murakami and Sayaka Matsubara) are figure skaters, and did it to improve their extension, posture and musicality. ;)
oh one last thing- these skaters (i'd say girls but that's not completely true) really are inspirational; i really wish i started skating earlier. it really is amazing how jumps like triple axels are really carried out
The Asians do take training quite seriously. No wonder that these skaters generally show more consistency than the American counterparts. And you will see that figure skaters are starting their training quite young.
Do you mean the year in which the videos were recorded? 2005- early 2007 (except for Mao Asada of course). Some of the skaters included in this montage have already moved to juniors and achieved success on national and international scene, while some will go junior this season. :)
It's Kanako Murakami, she is coached by Mao's former coach Machiko Yamada. She used to land (underrotated) triple axels, but now is struggling a bit with a growth spurt. I hope she'll be able to overcome it. Her spins and expression improved greatly since I made this video, though!
Sorry for the belated reply! I could swear I replied to your comment already, but I must forgot to actually click the "post comment" button. :(
The song is called "Cancan" (also known as "I Can, Can You?") and it's played by Vanessa Mae. I've got it from one of Vanessa's CD, but if you Google for it, you can actually find it online. ;)
i figure skate and there is no suh thingas inborn talent. If the japanese are much more hardworking than us then i congratulate them. i wish i could have met one of these people when i lived there. amasing footwork.
The U.S. is already kind of out of luck all Asian skaters medaled at the World's this year. The only girls I can see beating them would be Caroline Zhang who is asian and Mirari Nagasu who is asian too.
Very nice montage! I wish the future stars best of luck in the challenges that they will face in the competition. They truly are the best and I think they will have a brilliant future as the next olympic champs!
have i talked to nanoha? ya, we went to the same camp at shattuck st.mary's school in faribult MN. That is where she goes to school. its like a big hockey soccer figure skating boarding school. She is the nicest girls ever! And she is my age, and the most amazing skater. I know she will be going to the olympics.
no fair ish is tarted sooner. its takig me foever. theyrefuse to teach me ay jumps until my spins and all the other levels ive doen are perfect. i alreay can do a waltz jumpl. i just feel tiem runnign otu for me im 18 and i can only do a ballet jump and waltz jump i started 1 yr ago .
Getting to the level you see in that video takes a good 8-10 years if you're very talented and have lots of money, and will never happen if you don't have both of these things.
1 year is nothing, and I don't know what you mean by time running out, but realistically speaking, if you only have a waltz jump at 18, you're never going to the Olympics so you actually have your entire life to skate and compete, there's no rush.
hey where can we find kanako full program ? I am just found Shouma Kun charming litte guy :) ... I hope someone post more videos of these talented kids ..
loved it, shouma is such a cutie. My favourites are Kanako and Shouma :) Japan is going to have a strong skating team for a long time to come. Goodluck to all of them in the future! (and was someone wearing the same yellow dress mao did?)
Kanako and Shouma are also my favorites, though I love Yuki's powerful jumps, Nanoha's spins, Ayane's crazy jumping rope number and Ryuju/Hanyu rivarly as well. :)
