At 1:14, we see the motif of Wil having difficulty "finding her voice", which we first encountered in the second-hand clothing store (when Vivian told Wil that her father was Wil's boss); the final time we see it is when Vivian tells Wil "Folks are living" (the dance)--then Wil finally--definitively--finds her voice: "FUCK 'EM!" :)

The only subsequent difficulty is the humorous "spitting episode" at the end, when Wil's mother asks when she will have children. :)

Michelle's done a good job of acting nerdy~ with that shocked face,biscuit in mouth and bent back when staring at Lynn

And many plots in this film have been well planned for revealing the inner thoughts of these 2 characters... Wil is so stiff and finds it hard to fall no matter how much she wants , despite this ..Vivian never gives up and got closer to her.

And this scene in the park with that fence has a correlation with the break up scene that vivian really wants Wil to kiss her publicly..
