This is truly one of the nicest songs ever written, and that is coming from someone who is primarily into Death metal, it put's me in such a peaceful place....
whenever i listen to this song i compare it to when there has been a snow storm of over 20 inches......i listen to it if there's that amount outside or when thinking about big storms such as the blizzard of 93
Lay Me Down was written by David Crosby's musician son, James Raymond. Its sung here by the team of Crosby and Nash, and its a concert staple for them these days., One of my favorites.
Please try this: Turn the lights off, close your eyes, lie down in between the speakers (not headphones) and just let this wash over you. If that isn't life affirming and just so beautiful, I don't know what is!
@MilesMacf - that's how we used to do it in the old days, before really great headphones. If it's a great song it will pass that test, and this one certainly does.
I listened this song by chance on the radio (i'm from Spain and this band is not very well known there) and I liked it a lot. The mood of that piece is also hipnotic, it has relaxed me like nothing has ever done. So I tried to grab some keywords from of the lyrics (i'm not very good at listening yet) and googled them.
very interesting collection of footage. Of course the soundtrax is the perfect selection for this big vid...very comforting view..We love this very much
I love this song, and I love the wilderness, and backpacking. I hate the city. I think the song talks about battling depression, and other personal demons.
James Raymond, the composer who wrote this song, found out as an adult that he was actually David Crosby's son. He got together with David, his biological father, and after meeting they started jamming. Out came this transcendently beautiful song.
These pictures are really all great. Amazing that each of them contributed equally to what I recieved in the song. Are you a professional photographer? I hope you we are all lifted up when we lay down. Peace to the traveler.
This is such a gorgeous song! Having just gone through a very bad period of my life (serious car accident), the lyrics have a particular resonance. I've copied a downloaded tab of the intro into Powertab and am now looking for help with the rest of it.
Late sixties, early seventies, and now third millenium[Lay Me Down is "recent"], they still shine - Graham Nash and David Crosby - formerly of Crosby Stills Nash[CSN] and later CSN and Young, showing the skills and harmony as if at the begining of their career. Watch them performing "Teach Your Children" decades ago, here on You Tube clip, and you might see what I mean.
Lovely song and great video :)

Yes, also check Crosby & Nash doing " Find the cost of freedom " in 3 way harmonies with Dave Gilmour.....Quality is excellent for a live gig.....

This song is brilliant. Does this band have more songs similar to this one in its discography? It's exactly the kid of music I like.

I love this song so much. I have actually recorded a version as a tribute to the guys.
It may not be a patch on theirs , but I really enjoyed putting it together. Please have a little look at it. My Island Folk Music - -Lay Me Down.
