  • Terrible decision

  • Roy Jones won match but Tarver won the fight, period.

  • ok let's be honest people roy jones jr definitely won this fight that is for sure. And if some one really thinks that Antonio won this fight (total respect for Tarver) thats basically mean that person don't know shit about boxing and boxing scoring system tho. thanks

  • Tarver won this fight. He landed the cleaner, harder, and more effective punches. Jones was tired, and had no energy. He fought like a champion, but Tarver was the better fighter. Tarver was a great fighter, and he knew how to beat Roy Jones jr.

  • Damn good fight. Tarver really did lose though. Some people just don't know how to score boxing.

  • I heard about the robbery of this fight, and knowing that commentary could make bias, I watched the fight for the first time, muted.

I have no god damn fucking idea how Tarver thought he won. Roy Jones Jr absolutely clearly won AT LEAST 2 more rounds than Tarver. To think otherwise is retarded.

  • if flurries like tarver's win fights then De la Hoya beat Mayweather and Mosley

  • this was the first fight of roy out of his prime...he had nothing to do with his prime self...and still won it!!!that's why he's a real man...

  • tarver showed no class"pound for pound i told you so"....jones didnt even show emotion afterwards...just another day at the office. jones is goat.

  • I'm kind of a newcomer to the awesomeness of Jones. I wasn't following boxing in the '90s. It's my first time watching this fight--I'd always assumed it was very close, and maybe even a questionable decision. But I don't see any controversy. I think it was a clear 7-5 or 8-4 win for Roy. A draw would've been very generous to Tarver -- you'd have to favor ten-second flurries over 2:50 of getting hit and not throwing. And... what a tragedy it is that Roy didn't retire after this.

  • @RatatRatR in my opinion, this was roys last fight. im pretending his career ended here!! god how i wish it really did!!

  • 2 out of the 3 judges gave the last round to Jones. I thought he won that last round too, but just a little.

  • 115

    113

for tarver.... it's not a robbery, it was a close fight....

but.... i think tarver didn't get credit for some of those early rounds and flurries he threw.... the judges gave roy the benefit of the doubt and thought he was blocking most of those punches, even though a lot of the punches were getting through roy's guard...

i think the close rounds near the end.... mean a draw would have been fair...

  • @HSVIRK how on earth can you score it 115 113 thats just unbelievable that you can score it that badly no offence man

  • Tarver did not win but could have won it if he would have trown more punches in the fight

  • LMOA@ The look on Tarver's face when he realized he lost

  • Tarver lost this fight, but gave Roy all he could handle. I maintain that Tarver was just the right man on the right place. Other two fights he won fair and square. Roy should have retired after conquering the HW title. Jones showed a true heart of the champion. It was a good fight and the other two were just the falling of a big star. Tarver is no bum, he deserves credit.

  • jones won - no doubt

  • tie for me (maybe, +1 or 2 points Roy )

  • 3:08 is a perfect example of how much Roy Jones JR reflexes had slowed after the weight drain. Pre heavyweight he would've never got hit with those punches.

  • Lol I think Emmanuel Stewart meant straight left.

  • @estebancruz90 I know they sound a bit similar sometimes but that's George Foreman, not Emmanuel Steward. And yes, he did mean straight left.

  • I scored this bout dead even, I thought Tarver won the first three rounds then Jones won the next 3 then after that it was pretty even. Good fight, Tarver needed to be more aggressive, I wouldn't call this fight a robbery at all

  • @dropway9 EXACTLY!!!

  • I dopn't know..... I thought this was supposed to end in knockout I came to this fight because I saw a replay of a knockout... I guess this isn't THAT fight.

  • How anybody thought Roy lost this fight is beyond me!!!!

  • Jones shows his heart in this fight, he doesn't get credit for his heart, but he rarely has to depend on it because of his skill and speed, but watching this he's got the heart of a lion, however i hope roys retired i hate watching him get knocked out by bums he would of destroyed in his prime!

  • because we watched it dutchie..he half assed his way through that fight.blind ass

  • hahaha Tarver lost to a severely drained man in Jones, who lost 25 pounds of pure muscle just to make weight. Tarver mentioned how Jones kept making excuses, yet Tarver got knocked the fuck out by Bhop after losing weight from the Rocky movie. Tarver didn't ruin Jones...Jones ruined himself.

  • jones is all heart

  • jones clearly won this fight. i had it the saem as leademan, jones by 4 rounds. tarver could have won, jones was tried but tarver was amazingly lazy

  • I heard about this fight and how it was supposedly a robbery. I'm no fan of Jones either. I watched the second of the their trilogy first, and the third fight second. Both clear wins for Tarver. This fight however was most definitely not a robbery. Jones won this fight fairly.

Not sure what the controversy is about. Tarver had some major flurries but how much damage did they do? Jones hit Tarver with the better punches, outboxed him, etc. This was no Norton Ali III robbery. Sorry!

  • definitely not a robbery. let's be realistic in the middle of the ring jones was landing tonnes of straights and hooks to the body and head. tarver had the occasional 5 or 6 punch flurry toward the end of the round on the ropes. jones easily won by two or three rounds. close but jones.

  • I've never seen oy tired in the ring before this fight. Also he would never be caught on the ropes for more that 3 secs. Look at this fight then look at his fight with Clinton Woods. Pre heavy W8 and the post Heavy W8 are 2 different fighters.

  • i know tarver feels like telling buddy mcgirt to 'shut the fuck up'

  • Tarver lost the fight cause the only way he could box roy was when he was on the ropes

  • HAHAHAAHAHA TARVER LOOKED LIKE HE SAW HES GRANDMAMAS SHIT CAKE

  • i was so sad when i saw the match cuz i see the older you become the more it gets over... im just 15 now i need to be the youngest heavyweight chapion :-) wait you'll see me in tv!!

  • was this his last great fight?and probably to many divisions up

  • 7 rounds to 5 for Jones

  • I had it 115-114 to Jones (7th round scored even)

  • LOL What's with the crowd? ...Roy clearly won 8/12 rounds. I have 8-4 for Captain Hook Jones

  • En mi opinión, Roy jones jr. ha sido el mejor semipesado de la historia (por encima de Archie Moore) y un destacado medio y supermedio

  • how can anyone give Tarver this fight? I'll make it easy: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 Jones wins EASILY...... thats 7 right there.... Harold actually had this fight scored PERFECT. He's right, Tarver stood in the middle of the ring and took punishment except for the few times Roy backed up to let Tarver punch away.

  • had this fight a draw,i couldnt believe how poor jones looked by his standards,he should have retired after this, would have gone down as a top ten fighter of all time..

  • 116-113 Tarver

  • hey man thanx for the uploads it was a great fight,u should upload the 2nd 1 if u can pleaz thanx =]

  • Listen to the crowd. Dont let the commentary swade you. Unbelievably biasted. They constantly say nothing when Traver lands hard shots then Jones throws a flashy punch that either glances or is easily blocked and they go crazy. "Jones won the last round emphatically." No the last round was bloody close. I had tarver winning by three rounds both times Ive watched this.

  • Jones should have retired after this fight. He would have been considered possibly one of the top 10 of all time.

  • Roy Jones won that fight fair and square. Tarver is an idiot if he thinks otherwise

  • now roy jones becomes RJ gotta love it

  • Tarver is a good guy and a good fighter but he is afraid toget hit. I thought it was just movie clowning until I saw this fight, but Stallone kept ribbing him for being scared to get hit by an actor during the filming of Rocky Balboa. I have no idea why Tarver was proud or thought he had any chance at a decision. So many time he could have knocked RJ out but just stood frozen.

  • Jones was super weight drained for this fight

  • i dont understand how people actually think tarver won this fight, jones is standing there halfaman from fatigue and weight drain and wins the fight either 8-4 or7 rounds to 5.i dont know how antonio can ever be proud to go with half a man and be in the fight.this was shown in jones later fights that he had gone past his prime after the weight drain he was never the same but this really proved what a champ was made of.also tarver was taken apart and shown what he really was.rite place rite time

  • @dutchie1010 Tarver had every chance to beat Jones that night and didnt do it. Jones won the last round convincingly in my mind.

  • @dutchie1010 Very simple, Tarver hit Jones a couple of times and people hadn't ever seen that. Jones won the fight fair and square.

  • @dutchie1010 Agreed. Tarver had some good flurries on Jones while on the ropes. You can't win a fight just because you had a few of those. Jones clearly won despite being weight drained and past his best.

  • I'm not seeing the robbery... Tarver lost this fight.

  • @jagboola Jones barely won...but Tarver dominated the next two fights against Jones..lol

  • man taver look so much bigger then roy
