You know, being Diabetic, with an insulin pump at my side, I can pretty much verify that small electronic devices, such as cameras, Ipods, and E-readers, do NOT screw with planes. It also helps that my dad has is own pilots license, and works as an airport operations manager. If I was gunna cause a plane crash with my MP3, Im pretty sure he'd tell me. The real danger is the extra debre if the plane WERE to crash during takeoff.

America will never get an a380 because it doesn't need one. Countries that have the a380 only have one national airline owned by the government (France,qantas,UAE). America has plenty of planes and airlines (American, united, delta, us airways, air tran, USA 3000, continental,Alaskan, Hawaiian, southwest) we have countless 747s, 767s, 757s, 737, soon 787s, a319s, a320s, and a321s.

JFK has such tight taxi ways, it needs serious upgrade, or totally new Airport, its just saturated with traffic, Emirates Airline issued special taxi chart for their A380 to avoid such incident, there are clearly marked areas where Category F (taxi category) airplane suppose to taxi, it has restrictions and specials notes on them. ATC in jfk are aware of that too. airfrance must have something similar if they dont .

Ultimately, blame has to go to pilots of the A380, as they are fully responsible for the safe operation of the flight, and can disobey any ground control or atc requests if needs be. They should have seen the plane infront (as they approached it) as a hazard and should have stopped the aircraft, until they were sure they could proceed safely.
