Since no angels (satan is a fallen angel, of course) knows when the Rapture is going to happen, satan is not sure who will be his right hand man. Can you imangine how many he's chosen, only to have them die away, and the Church is still here. The Rapture will take Satan by suprise, he'll have to scramble & maybe the first few won't do (won't work out). One day the Book will come to an End.

It's an ultimate superstition as long as the recievers tend to defend the planet which the 2012 phenomenon holds. Factual expectations over a long period of years can present less than 100% sure and that well mean it's a 50/50 chance whether the planet is going to end or unbelievable documentaries
making stories just to scare almost the planet's population that aren't going to be true. They're also wasting other people's time so i would'nt bother arguing because as i've said it's a 50/50.
