  • Once you learn the basics, it's up to that fighter or practitioner to incorporate his own style of fighting. Why is that? Because styles will limit your mobility in fighting. You have to constantly change your fighting styles every time or the fighter will figure out your fighting style. That is why Bruce Lee is the best. His Jeet Kune Do philosophy is right. Create your own fighting method that works for you but learn the basics first.

  • Taekwondo is a modern art and is a hybrid of Karate just like any system. What Choi did was create a different style of fighting which works best for him. You can't do Taekwondo and Karate forever because it hurts on your joints and muscles. Karate is from Kung Fu. Choi incorporated western style boxing into his traditional style. However, other martial arts have this kinda of fighting style as well. That's why styles limit a fighter. Bruce Lee would never learn from this master.

  • The moment this "grandmaster" heard what that black gentleman said (around 2:20-2:25), he should've thrown him out.

  • i did shotokan karate and judo for 4 years , then in the last 3 years i started choi kwang do... its changed my lifee. if you want to look cool and do no dammage do karate if you wanna realy learn how to fight do choi kwang doo

  • no one touches Bruce Lee

  • i've met him ten thousands of times.....i train with him alot.........i also went to his birthday party

  • I met Grandmaster Choi once, a very nice and humble man. Master P used to be the head instructor at my Dojo!

  • idiotic, "I would not make him mad." non martial artists should not speak without thinking. people need to be re-educated that martial arts is not about revenge or kicking your ass like the movies had depicted us for years! WTF. idiots! GM Choi is awesome. I like this style of TKD. see ya!

  • @kohanjin Nicely said, but keep in mind Choi kwang Do isn't a style of TKD. It is a independent and unique Martial Art.

  • @ElbowBlades | I don't want to get into a debate, and it's most likely you are a practitioner of CKD, but I have been studying martial arts for 30+ years now, and I know what I see. GM Choi came from ITF from what I have heard, therefore that makes his techniques more than 90% TKD. Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is simply TKD + Wing Chun technique with sprinkle of Zen philosophy. You can call your art whatever you want, but be respectful and give credit where credit is due. no need to respond.

  • @kohanjin I wasn't being disrespectful. I consider myself quite open minded regarding Martial Arts. I disagree with the majority of what you said. But like yourself I don't wish to get into a debate. I have got into way too many in the past, and frankly no one gets anywhere.

  • @kohanjin So presumably you give credit where credit is due and call Tae-kwon-do by it's correct name, Shotokan karate? Then Shotokan karate needs to give credit where credit's due and call itself simply "Te", then some form of kung fu, etc.

Eventually you've got to be prepared to acknowledge that something is different enough from its parent arts to warrant a new name altogether.

  • i have only seen him once and man he is some 67 year old!

  • im in choi kwang do and man it helps with focus, concentration, and power, there is also a akito program!

  • he is amazing i go to the one in Smyrna Ga I have never met him in real life, but my dad has. my dad worked at his house. he painted Grandmaster Choi basement.

  • How would he know what Bruce Lee would say?

  • Comment removed

  • Poo Dung!

  • thats master P at 1 15 hes my instructer!

  • @GotchaSlinkey LUCKY!! hes like a really good teacher! ive met him once,at one of my tests!!

    Pil Sung!

  • Grand Master is 68 years old

  • My apologies, his new username is actally MMAcagewarrior. It's easy to get these fantastical terms mixed up. Either way he's deluded.

  • MMAcagefighter used to be thrashe657crew. Just by taking a cursory glance at his profile you can see that he spends the majority of his time on youtube, is of low intelligence, and is someone that really hasn't grown up (pity his children). Choi Kwang Do will never ever worry about 'criticism' from the likes of him. He really cannot make a strong point and, besides, he is a coward that removes his comments on a regular basis.

  • Fuck choi kwang do.JOIN KINECK MARTIAL ART INT.

  • super mcdojo!

  • Thanks for posting this. Really enjoyed it. We always love seeing other martial artists showing what they can do.

    Keep up the great work.

We to work with people with disability's , an are careful to take care of our bodies as it sounds like this gentlemen does. Very nice to see!

Oh an if its not to much trouble please stop by our page and look at our videos as well.

    Comments welcomed :)

  • I keep getting emails from CKD people on this thread or other threads It's hard to keep track. This video is deceptive. CKD is not the fastest growing art. Every MA has old folks (even into the 90s). Bruce Lee would NEVER approve of CKD. There are many grandmasters all over the world MUCH BETTER than Choi (can't compare). His technique isn't that hot and at 68 he is actually better than his much much younger instructors. His book is also deceptive.

  • Besides from what i read about the guy he was studying tae kwon do for a long time before he decided to branch out and create his own style ... as for his weird claims and cult like following, its not uncommon to see stuff like that happen when martial arts are involved ...

  • i dunno about the whole package of the style and everything but that guy's punches and kicks looked pretty powerful for his age..

  • @Frequent2001 At his age. Great. But I know guys who punch and kick the same in their 60s. Nothing to take away from Choi. He looks in shape and in good health. But that's not because of CKD. It's because of his genetics and working out.

  • @BushidoCode72 so hes in shape from sitting in his room and jacking off while eating buckets of fried chicken?

Some people get in shape doing tae bo, or aerobics, gymnastics etc.. this guy is throwing punches and kicks every day since he's a kid, of course it will keep him in shape.. no matter how effective or shitty his CHIT KUNT DO can be in real combat...

  • @Frequent2001 For his age? Pretty powerful for a 20 year old!

  • @ElbowBlades Kwang Jo Choi isnt 20 year old you idiot

  • @Frequent2001 Um, what are you calling me an idiot? That is a compliment. I am saying he is powerful compared to 20 year olds. And for a 68 year old he is amazing!

  • Yeah. The more research I do, the more of a scam this art and founder appear to be. No record of anything and a lot of scientific claims with nothing solid to back them up. The techniques are also terrible. Loopy telegraphed punches, sloppy kicks with no power, crazy NOT practical blocks, etc. etc.

  • I did CKD before when i was 5, and my dad took me out of it because it was a waste of money. As i remeber was doing some training then playing dodge ball. I gusse it depends what area you are in. Now i am doing TSD so have learnt alot more, but i ant knocking anyone down who does CKD i bet you are all good. Just thought i make my point across aye!!!

  • @Sky09Dragon

Tang Soo Do is a legit martial art with a long history. It also produced good fighters like Chuck Norris. CKD seems a bit like a cult. I'm not sure. I heard the leader of the group claims to be some kind of healer and puts down other arts. I think he even states in his book that hard exercise causes cancer. There is no proof at all that CKD is good for the joints or for your health. At least no more than other martial arts.

  • @BushidoCode72 I done CKD for 5 years. Got to 2nd Dan Black Belt. Its a waste of money, a rip off and full of bullshit! Anyone with money can get a black belt. Instructors are like childminders. Joke! And if Bruce Lee was a live today he wouldnt want anything to do with this old git rippin off people.

  • Hi punches are terrible. They are teligraphed, have no power, and can be seen from miles around. His kicks look sort of like bad tkd. Choi Kwan Do is also NOT THE FASTEST GROWING MARTIAL ART ON THE PLANET. That's just not true AT ALL

  • Are you a retard? Who the fuck are you to say that, have no power? you my friend, are deluded

  • Comment removed

  • @BushidoCode72 i do choi kwang do and this is how our martial art is it may be diffrent than your martial art im sure it is becuase choi is its own art not yours in most martial arts you fully extend,Hurting your joints,in choi you dont extend all the way giving you less pain and more power.

  • Comment removed

  • i luv seein all of the ppl tryin 2 run their mouths on youtube. If you're really that knowledgeable about the art and what is true or not...y don't you walk into a CKD dojang and try n prove yourself. ;)

  • I know you are not responding to me, but the proof of effectiveness is not on people on this thread. This is just Youtube. If a master makes a claim that his art is most effective and better for joints, the burden of proof is actually on the master making claims. But I have been looking on videos on Youtube and it looks sloppy. I also see a lot of out of grossly shape black belts. I admit, maybe there are other videos out there. I'm only seeing Youtube.

  • @derrickwitz Old comment I know, but this request is impossible, as I've not yet seen a CKD school where you could prove yourself in any meaningful way: they don't spar and they don't pressure test their self defence ability with any seriousness. You could go along, but you'd just be expected to join in with their various drills.

  • I am actually a student of this martial arts and absolutely love it. Everything they say is true and there are over 400 schools including Australia, America and all over Europe. Don't knock something till you try it. It is wonderful and I have seen men who are partial quadriplegic go right through past black bet and now even own their own school. When used properly, the techniques are extremely fast and dangerous... however they were slowed down for display purposes!!

  • Is it true that Master Choi prohibits anyone to talk about, look into, or practice any other martial art but his? I'm just curious. Is it true that his word is law and his word that this is most effective cannot be questioned? I am very very very concerned whenever these chains start sprining up. Choi has been around for a while. But there have been other chains like his with instructors kicking money up in commision for his name. Maybe I'm wrong. Feels like a martial arts pyramid.

  • I have never heard of this before. It is your personal decision if you train in more than one style and I have never heard complaints from any instructors before. You can question certain things, obviously keeping to a certain level. I have never heard to it reffered to as a pyramid before.

  • @vickiw89 By pyramid I am ASKING - I dont know this: Does it have instructors by region (like in sales - regional instructor, national instructor, etc.)? Is there a chain of command set up? Is money from schools kicked up to the next chain in command with Choi receiving the final cut for his name? That way setting up schools is very profitable. How free are students to question techniques, and experiment with other martial arts? How free are you to think out of the box?

  • I'm an Assistant instructor in Choi, and i even think that the standards should be higher. And no there is not instructors for each region, There are just different schools set up wherever by a chief instructor, that chief instructor may own one or two or three schools which he owns, he then may pay other chief instructors to help him. and then assistant instructors, (they don't usually get paid)

  • @MTBriderr Sir if you're a good instructor, train in some martial arts and open your own school. It's not fair that you don't get paid. This news cast quotes Bruce Lee. Lee said, "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear." He also said that martial arts are about "Honest self expression.." You can't get that purity, self knowledge in an art that 1. stops you from sparring and testing the art. 2. stops you from learning other truths out there.

  • It's the Instructors that are supposed to not train in other martial arts, the students are allowed to as far as I know.

  • @MTBriderr

Why do you think, the instructors are NOT SUPPOSED to train in other martial arts? What do you think master Choi doesn't want them to know about, try out, experiment with and test? Why not have your instructors well rounded? MOst schools wouldn't mind if black belts add techniques to the style's arsenal.

  • I don't know of grandmaster Choi gets any money from the schools, no chain of command only in the schools and areas. Apparently if you an instructor you cannot train in other martial arts, which i agree is stupid, it think some ppl do it anyway

  • @MTBriderr But don't you think it's strange if a head master monitors what his students learn outside their own schools (schools they own, run and operate free of his control)? The reason is that he doesn't want his students to figure out that CKD is NOT all that great and/or healthy and/or deadly. ALways be careful of schools that don't allow sparring and/or prohibit learning other martial arts. Don't you think it's creepy?

  • He doesn't monitor it, it's just something that is a "rule" or regulation if you will. And Maybe, but i doubt it, it is healthy for your body, and doesn't damage your ligaments like some other martial arts, the techniques are deadly if put to use properly and practised. It's not creepy jut weird that the option is not available to make contact. If i opened my own school i would get the money that i make, it's just some instructors who help out do not get paid.

  • So a business question: Suppose you decide to open a school in an area where there is little competition. It's a good busienss move. You open your school and do well. One day, you discover that the community need is to have cardio kickboxing and/or grappling, whatever, education in the area. What is the harm if you get some extra training to pass on to your students. I know many traditional marsters who are presently cross training (for years) in jiujitsu, judo, boxing, etc. For their students

  • Yeah, if iwas to open my own school, i would want to teach them variations, with soem contact, ground work, rather than just sticking to one thing like just punching the air, maybe i wouldn't call it choi kwang do, i would make my own martial art, just call it mixed martial art classes, with the stand up punching and kicking techniques based on choi kwang do.

  • Obviously if I was to teach ground work grappling and stuff and more sparring I would want to be very good at those aspects as well. I don't know it's hard to say lol

  • . The students are free to question the techniques, the techniques are good, but to learn how to use them Choi isn't necessarily the only martial art to do as it does not allow sparring with contact or competitions competitions. Some of the videos on here are of "Black belts" that bring a disgrace to choi, however there are a lot of students out there who are good, i don't agree with the fact that anyone can be a blackbelt if they just pay for it even if they're shit.

  • @MTBriderr Good. The reason most masters don't allow students to spar is because they want students to believe that these techniques are 100% good and too deadly to spar with .YOU CANNOT know the validity of technique unless you practice it against an opponent with full resistance. That's why so many martial arts master would be destroyed by a highschool wrestler, a 20 year old boxer with 1 year experience, and a blue belt of Brazilian Jiujitsu. STudents should spar.

  • a superstar world wide? what? the fastest growing in the world? what?

have fun, enjoy your martial arts, but please, how many lies do you want to tell one reporter?

  • He's not a superstar. This is NOT the fastest growing art in the world. Seems very cultish. A set up shop kind of deal wiht one supreme leader. WHo has he faught? Who has he taught? Has he taught any champions of anything? And the fact that his word can't be questioned is kind of curious. But, this is youtube. What do I know. Bless you and keep training.

  • I didn't think i would see a TKD derivative worse than ATA..well here it is. Its a shame that good martial artists with skills to teach instead choose to pass on watered down, lame but aesthetically attractive (to those who think they are being taught to fight) so called self defence techniques to whoever is prepared to cough up the dosh.

Why does TKD keep spawning these self obsessed arseholes?

  • the only thing i learned in this martial arts is to kick and punch in circles. its a rip off

  • I spent 5yrs doin Choi. Thankfully I saw the light and got out of it. Its like a MAC Dojang Franchise lining the pockets of Grandmaster Choi and his Chief Instructors. How u can justify £250 to take a Dan Grading, What a Joke.

  • Comment removed

  • Its £165 to do IL Dan in the Uk. Its £200 plus for 2nd Dan and upwards it goes even more for 3rd Dan. It costs £750 to open a school in the UK, and even then you end up givin half your revenue to CKD headquarters. The whole thing is one big money making con. Most Black Belts couldn't punch their way out of a paperbag anyway. And actually its my gain. I pay less money, get fitter and learn how to fight properly.

  • Comment removed

  • To atckd

Yeah, its a business lining the pockets of the old guy. Still all the kids and overweight women enjoy gettin a workout. My Dojang resembled a Childrens creche when I left. What a waste of money.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, I would have thought the first black belt would have been more expensive than the following black belts.

  • Nah, he charges £165 for 1st Dan. The old guy gets £110 of that. The 2nd Dan cost £250 and he gets £170 of that. Mac Dojang or what.

  • If its that bad mate, why did you do it for 5 years, and why do you keep looking at our videos, you hiding if not, put your name and address up.

  • Comment removed

  • well i will say this. I am very glad you are no longer with Choi Kwang Do. By the way you talk it just goes to show how much class you have and what a "true" martial artist isnt. Thank you for leaving CKD and allowing more room for real, respectful martial artists. I truly appreciate it. :) Have a nice day sir and Pil Suhng!!

  • LOL All his new cars u mean the SUV that he's had for like 7 years now? only reason i no that is bcause I sat in the passenger as he drove me 2 dinner as a thnk u 4 takin the time 2 meet with him. I rlly dnt pay much. As a matter of fact I actually make money from Ckd n none of that even compares 2 the amount of knowledge n self-discipline I gain from it. Now, Im goin 2 end here bcause honestly a person like u is not even worth another utube comment. So once again have a nice day sir & Pil Suhng

  • bof il a rien inventer

  • My Instructor is master cairney. beat that

  • why did this get marked down? not being mean at all... just funny.... wow no sence of humor much?

  • I am an assistant instructor of Choi Kwang Do under a different instructor that studied with Kwang Jo Choi and we learned not to extend the joints all the way.

I am also at Brown Belt lvl. through Shotokan Karate and I also never extend the joints even though some traditional martial artists probably still do.

I agree with winchun with not capturing the actual power of CKD in the video.

    TRAIN HARD; PIL-SUHNG

  • choi's nice, man....this video diddnt really capture the raw power of it, tho.....it kind of borrows wing chuns compactness as well

  • HUMILITY : "There are many grand masters all over the world, but there is no one who can kick and punch like GM Kwang Jo Choi..." ????!!!!!???

Not to mention Bruce Lee statement.

  • No self-respecting "Grandmaster" would WANT to kick & punch like Kwang Jo Choi.

If Bruce Lee WERE alive today he would die from laughing.

  • PIL SUHNG SAJONIM!!!!

  • im now a purplebelt testing for blk belt in Nov.

  • what a load of bollocks.

  • impressive! much power and speed in his techniques

  • Coward i

     i i V

  • eh????

  • Jesus, why do ppl have to argue about what style is better than what? Just watch it if you like it, done watch it if you dont.

  • Agreed... Nothing is wrong with the style of CKD, so people that bad mouth it just come across as jealous to me. At any rate, they dont have a very good attitude as a martial artist. :)

  • Have you managed to get a job yet Mr sheriffsixtyfour? And how is Miss S?

  • So, CKDfighter is also Irishkafir, and used to have the choigod profile. You move around a lot Greg.

  • Not as much as you Mr C.

  • And sheriffsixtyfour is Mr J H... lol!

  • Who? You keep coming up with names but not the right ones.

  • 1st my surname starts with S. Then I'm Danny, then mr C, now mr jh.

  • Walk away like the rest. I can't be bothered now. If u got any bottle call me. Otherwise... "GET A LIFE". PIL SUHNG!

  • Y A W N !

  • I have no probelm whatsoever with the techniques of Choi. They are powerful and dont damage the body. However, the early days of Choi were far better. The reason why there were so many splits in the 90's was because the art started to sell out and become a McDojang. This is why somenone like CKDfighter was made an instructor. Even worse, apparently he will open up a Choi school! Proof that all the Choi schools have followed HQ. It's just about the money, not the quality.

  • Happy New Year to you from Surrey CKD...lol

  • Thanks, but I'll spend new year with my friends and not a bunch of sell outs

  • Bruce lee was a martial artist ahead of his time, he trained with many great martial artists, joe lewis, chuck norris, dan inosanto, larry hartsell, yip man, william cheung, wong shun leung, jhoon rhee, ed parker, i really dont think he would have needed guidance from gm choi, most probably the other way round.

  • Shame that ex Choi Students come on here slagging off choi. When you think of the time & effort they put in & the friends they made, to come on here afterwards & slag it all off. Like Sheriffsixtyfour... At Surrey CKD we know who he is. We r all having a good laugh at him.

  • there are many styles out there who are ruining the image of martial arts, i can honestly say that the so called traditional schools still hold high standards, they dont rip people off, and they dont boast about there art, or knock others in what they practice, maybe because they are confident in what they do, this to me is the sign of a true martial artist.

  • Greg, you are useless. You train with children and waddling fat ladies. You ARE NOT A CAGEFIGHTER. Stop being so deluded. How are your teeth? Still rotten?

  • To sheriffsixtyfour. My teeth are all still there thanks . Shame about your Hair though. And as for the children & waddling fat Ladies, you've been away for too long. Times have changed. Why not come down. Master B & Co can probably help u with your obvious personal Crisis.

  • Like you said, I wonder if he is sponging benefit from the DHSS.lol

  • aaron blackwell doesn't use any choi in the ring.

    What does that tell you?

I used to train with aaron

  • I train with Aaron Blackwell. Infact tonight We battered shit out of each other. As an ex Choi Kwang Do student as is Aaron, we both use Choi Kwang Do Techniques in MMA. Choi techniques provide you with a massive advantage over your typical mma fighter. Why dont you come down and see it for yourself

  • youve got to be joking

  • 1:12 If Bruce Lee was alive today he would be a very sick man...

  • PILSUNG!

  • In hine sight, Martial Arts are Martial Arts and each one is different and used for something completely different. There is no right or wrong way to learn how to defend yourself but there are restrictions and the truth is, with any Martial Art or self defence program it will only be realistic to a point.

  • No offense, but I don't see why his method is so special.

  • I have trained in Black Dragon kung fu, for a respectable time, and also CKD .What did you exactly mean orochimarupain by your comment? I have a good friend who trains in England whom is highly respected in EKA and Kung fu, He teaches well and is not known for his fortune empire, but for his ability to combine different styles to an effective art.

  • i felt that they where saying it was bad and it does not help you protect you so yeah i think o-well lol

  • i take it idiot

  • Choi Kwang Do is a joke. You people are blind fools.

  • screw you

  • I did Choi Kwang do for a while i liked it for the health benefits and it taught basic self defense i think i learned alot but i preffer somthing with a little contact or alot of contact though i liked choi kwang do its very ralaxed and very beneficial to health.

  • ckd puts less pressure on your joints than tkd, because in tkd u lock out, and in ckd you dont

  • anyone who locks there joints in tkd or karate are being taught wrong, there are also many exercises to strengthen joints.

  • in tai kwang do people lock out joints like grand master kwang jo choi said at the 2008 seminar, as he used to do it. he used to get joint pains and they would all swell up. so they do not get taught wrong, they do it right, but its bad for your joints

  • I wouldn't say because tkd and karate are being taught wrong by locking out the joints... That is those martial art styles. :)

  • some people do but its bad practice

  • True that if you hit a shield or pad your arm/leg will not lock out. Though alot of traditional martial arts which include TKD do lockout to air, which CKD considers bad practice.

  • you recoil the leg so that you can kick again.

And stop saying bad things about choi, it's not the martial arts way to compete for what one's better.

  • for a start, I do, and i'm an instructor

  • BUll Shittt

  • To train in a stand up Martial Art for MMA or Cage Fighting Choi Kwang Do is the No 1. TKD is dated, Muay Thai too restricted. Just look at the stances in most martial arts. They suck. In CKD its perfect.

  • you cant use CKD for any tournament fighting. Its not practical for anything apart from Self Defence. A CKD student should know this, even if you are trying to big it up.

  • There seem to be really mixed views about the effectivenss of CKD. If don't think that it's effective then quit or don't join, it's that simple!

I personally think that the art itself is effective for street defense.

IT IS NOT THE MARTIAL ART, IT IS THE MARTIAL ARTIST. You know yourself if your training is effective. In street situations you will find out if the art is effective. (IMO it is).

Tae Kwon Do is very similar to Choi Kwang Do, yet CKD is more about street defense.

  • Muay Thai would dominate this art. And the fastest growing martial art is BJJ.

  • the fastest growing martial art is CKD.

BJJ looks wicked aswel though. But CKD & BJJ serve different purposes. One is for competition, the other for self defence. they shouldnt be compared or argued about. Both have plus's.

  • I am a CKD Student for 5 years.I used CKD techniques in mma. I also know of another ex CKD student who is a professional UK mma fighter, his fights are on You Tube, and he uses too many Choi Techniques when competing.BJJ is ground fighting end of.

  • Yes but my point is CKD wasnt developed for MMA. It was developed for self defence, so although some moves are applicable, they may not be the most practical for ring enviroment. Having said that, alot of moves ie. High Outward blocks and inward front punch would be perfect.

I just feel that a CKD student cant excel in a MMA fight using only CKD as the fights have alot more aspects to them than just standing and fighting.

By the way, Pil Suhng, where do you train?

  • If I ask most martial artist of today what they train i never hear choi, but BJJ is heard all the time because it can defeat any single style of fighting.

  • Soon they will have though. CKD is growing massively. If only you could have attended the seminar we had on saturday. Hundreds turned up not only to train but to watch and learn from Grand Master Choi. You only need to hear him speak to know he has incredible knowledge and ability.

And in regards to BJJ beating anyother style, in a ring enviroment that may be true, but im telling you now, if any BJJ fighter my age attempted to attack me in the street, wow, it wouldnt last long, KO real quick ..

  • BJJ is Ground Fighting Fool. Do you want to roll around on the street during a street fight. NO...You want it over asap so you can get hell out of there. BJJ is a competitive Martial Art specialising in Ground Fighting Skills. ITS FOR THE RING.NOT THE STREET. If I was fighting a BJJ Guy in the street & he took me to the ground I'd stick my fingers threw his eyesockets I'd bite his ears, arms, legs. Bet they don't don't train for that. BJJ is a competitive Rules regulated Art.Not for the street.

  • And because he does BJJ he can't do that to you i'd know who i'd rather fight a choi BB or BJJ BB theres no contest a BJJ guy would maul a choi guy you can't bite whilst your unconcious you nutsack watch gracie invitationals where they fight anything goes and dominate every art.

  • But you can't fight like that in the street. What happens if someone else joins in and you are tied up on the ground. Going to the Ground in a street fight is a last resort. And how can you say you'd rather fight a Choi BB than a BJJ Black Belt. How do you know their sizes, age etc. Stop showing your ignorance of Martial Arts you Fool.

  • I don't care i've sparred with choi guys and grappled with BJJ guys and Choi just simply doesn't cut it, BJJ BB are far more legitimate martial artists rather than someone who just turns up and every 3 months gets a belt. BJJ takes far more skill thats why it is the most popular martial art in the mainstream right now.

  • To daz45. So U av sparred & Grappled then...What does that mean?...oh yes its a controlled regulated fight. Ever been in a street fight Mr Daz? And before you start mouthing off about BJJ been the most popular, what about Karate, Kickboxing. You clearly ain't gotta clue my friend

  • It is becoming the most popular, and yes i have been in fights i ain't proud of it, it's not big and it doesn't make you a good fighter by any means also i am not BJJ based nor is it my favourate art, i am versed in freestyle, boxing, MT, Wrestling and BJJ and have previously studied in aikido and japanese jujitsu, so i'd say i have some sort of clue, when i say which martial art is the most effective on it's own not as a base but as an entity in itself, stop trying to argue useless points man.

  • To Daz45. My Word, at 21 you've managed to cram 7 styles of fighting in...I wonder to what standard! Give it another few years & you'll be ready for a wheelchair my friend.

  • sorry old man i've been training since i was 5 in martial arts and will continue to, just because you have been blinded by a hoax trying to be the best street fighting style don't go preaching to me.

  • To daz45. I ain't old, it ain't a hoax. You probably had a bad experience wherever u saw or tried CKD. At Chessington CKD there is approx 20 Male Black Belts from 1st to 5th Dan aged 15 to 45. Training there is a privilige. Nothing else comes close. Good Luck in your chose arts. Be Happy.

  • Dude i've sparred with choi BBs and wasn't impressed is all, until i see one who isn't below par then my view will change, good luck with it anyway.

  • Exactly ... simple as ... If someone who did BJJ took me to the ground id pull his eyes out, simple as. CKD aint as pretty as some others but im 17 and could kick the shit out of most other martial artists who tried to attack me on the street. Maybe in the ring I wouldnt be as good ... but who cares, take it to the street and watch anyother martial artist fall on his arse in under 30 seconds ... pil suhng

  • believe me if you went to a bjj class you would be amased at there skill, also a bjj guy isnt gonna fight by the rules on the street is he, rather than putting other arts down you should try and learn from them. and dont let choi kwang do get to ur head, there are some deadly fighters out there, dont ever assume the guy on the street cant fight, some of them would rip the heads off martial artists.

  • Choi Kwang Do ain't gone to my head. Its probably the best stand up Martial Art to train in, not only for street fighting but also MMA. Check out a guy called Aaron Blackwell. He's a Champion MMa fighter in the UK who trained in Choi for 4 years.

  • aaron blackwell doesn't use any choi in the ring.

    What does that tell you?

I used to train with aaron
