PS: He won a playoff series from 79 against Denver at the buzzer of the final game w/ about a 20 foot hook. Footage doesn't exist of the final play that I know of (outside of an NBA vault).
His turnaround jumper and his left hook were his weak shots. If you saw those at all, they typically....typically...came as a 2nd resort to a right handed hook on the baseline or across the middle, and that's if a defender overplayed him to his right or if the lane was clogged w/ a group of guys. What's amazing is how often he was able to get his preferred position.
This is a wonderful video of one of the most (and arguablly the most) brilliant basketball player to ever live. I could watch this over and over...watching him shoot is like reading great poetry. Please, can we just call him the greatest center of all time. I know his rebounding was a bit less than Russell and Wilt's, but he made up for it with his all around play, MVP's and championships. It's time to label him as THE greatest.
If you think Hakeem had better skills than Kareem, please explain why he won one MVP award while Kareem won six more than anyone else. Or why Kareem was a 10 time first team all NBA center also more than anyone else. Shouldn't Hakeem have topped him in those categories?
It's obvious that players like Dwight Howard would be ridiculized playing against players like it. Many teenaagers from today would make an absolute fool of themselves if they had the opportunity of put this players against Dwight Howard in a one on one or going against each other in a basketball game. Howard would be blocked continuously and he would be destroyed offensively. Wilt Chamberlain or Bill Russel had not allowed Howard to score even 1 point. And Jabbar would score 60 points on him.
And after adulating Jabbar's skills i will criticize him :) I think he was the kind of smart player but he lacked of intensity and emotion, i think he was a player and he is a person a little unemotional it did lose him charimsa for the people, even he was hated when he was in Milwaukee. He was not very intense on defense and he was not like Olajuwon and Jordan in the last minutes of the games. I think he's the most skilled and specially gifted player of all time, but players like Bill Russell
players like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan were more strong, phisically and mentally, they were different players, Jabbar was like a superior player, but the others had something that made them more powerful players. All them are the top players of all time.
@WiltatKansas Olajuwon no. Close but no. Kareem is second only to Chamblerlain at center. Jordan yes. Jordan was unparrelled impact on games and had admiation from fans and peers alike that very few have in their sport.
Unstoppable !

Simply amazing. I have so much admiration and respect for Kareem as a player and person.

This is why Bynum is by far a better offensive big man than Howard. Couldn't have learned from a better teacher (other than Olajuwon, of course).

Great video. Curiously, for me, Kareem's greatest shooting display was during the 1985 NBA finals, when he was 38 years old.

Kareem is with out doubt the best BBall player EVER.
