Im getting the super clocked 280 GTX 1GB. I got the ATI 4870 which sucked they have no drivers support and there cards run very hot. Im returning it tomorrow.
i dont know what these noobs are talking about not impressive those were great framerates but i would like to see aa turned on witch will drop the rates a bit how long is the card in inches
I missed this video. Nice video card, even though it's Nvidia ;) You made a very smart buy. It is kind of tight in your case but it looks great! I hope you do a video of your PC as a whole soon, great work.
I'm actually pretty impressed with my 260 it's getting 1 FPS less than your stock 280 because of my overclock, not bad considering the price difference.
Finally upgrade my video card and it was worth it. This card is a beast and can run almost every game on the market perfectly with good frame rates. almost? it can run everything xD Nice vid.
The backplate is needed on the 280 because the memory chips are on the backside of the card so that backplate actually acts as a heat sink, the 285 has no backplate because the memory chips have been re positioned on the otherside with the gpu.
Wow the video card blocks almost all your SATA ports? That's a bad design on the motherboard manufacture. They should have put them below the secondary PCI-e port so at least if your only running one card you can use them all. I only have 2 hard drives too but I also have a SATA burner and a Sata to eSata bracket (came with Vantec eSata enclosure) so that would be a disaster! Can you fit some 90 degree cables under it? Anyway, nice card I didn't expect you to go so big!! Huge upgrade!!
Nice you finally got an upgrade :). I just upgraded from my GTX 280 to a GTX 295, I was thinking of getting a 2nd hand GTX 280 (There were a few of the same cards I had going around too, the MSI OC 700/1400/2300 clocks) however buying them 2nd hand was a little bit of a hassle. Either way just OC the GTX 295 a little bit and I'm not too far off GTX 280 SLI performance :).
However do keep in mind that after a while the thermal material on the GTX 280 may wear and the card may run hotter. This has happened with a few GTX 280 owners (Me included). When I first go t the card for example it ran at maybe max load of 63-69c tops and now at the same ambient temps can sometimes jump to the 80c+ mark. I dunno if this was a problem that stemmed from reference cards or AIBs individually, but hopefully EVGA are using better thermal paste on their cards then other AIBs.
THATS INSANE MAN, lol im still pushing my old system hehe. then again i dont need a gtx 280 for combat arms, let me know how many frames yu get in that lol
Allso just have to ask, (if you got this card just recently) why did u get the 280 and not the 285? 285 is cheaper + it OC's higher b/c of the 55nm die resize.
Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 You got a GTX280???? WOW I'm REALLY happy for you. I hope to be able to get a 4870 in the next couple of weeks if my friends buys my old computer.
thumbs up if u always skip to the bit where they get to the graphics card

hey brother would an cprsair hx 620 be enough to run that card
asus3571 2 years ago
yea easy u only need 550w psu for that card. buy either a gtx 275 or 285 they're better
xboxbenny 2 years ago
thanks but from what i know the gtx275 is basiccaly a rebranded 9800gtx+ witch in cpu mag got one of the worst products of 08
asus3571 2 years ago
actually, the rebranded version is the GTS 250, not the GTX 275
