Even from the crappy sound of the camera's microphone i can tell that these sound beautiful, well done with your construction!
I'm usually a two-way Audiophile as 3-Way makes us more = less and it's a headache to tweak the setup to your meters, and Full Ranges makes me afraid of what i'll figure out over time, but i've been tempted many times into the Single Way.
Have you checked Seas' 8" Fullrange? Nothing to do with the Corals but i recommend to everyone who's into 1-Way to check it out.
You have some very nice speakers there.I don't think in my opinion your amplifier is not good enough for them.Try an single ended 300B or EL84 Audio Note or Almarro with them.I have a collection of Corals speakers myself and they are fantastic drivers.Daniel,Australia
@dan480 Hi Dan, yes I was motivated to take a chance on ~30yo drivers by some great comments from Oz. They are nice indeed, but I don't have a lot to compare to since I am working my way up the audio foodchain. I am not blowing my budget on this hobby so again based on favourable comments I bought some old console stereo amps. I have two single-ended 6BQ5 amps I can try with these. Also on the sidelines is a De-Lite amp project, and I am nearly finished my Hammer Dynamics speakers...
I have the same amp or what looks like the same amp. Did this come with the tuner/preamp? If so what wires turn it on and off and so on? How did you make it work without that tuner/preamp section?
@rbeez2004 I got the amp from ebay without the preamp. I joined the Magnavox Friends group on Yahoo and found the schematic, which helped a lot. I couldn't relate the pin layout of the molex plug on the chassis to the schematic, so it became a process of elimination. When I replaced the L/R balance pot wiring with 390 ohm resistors, I cut those wires. When I traced some wires to 200V supply for tuner, for ground, for heaters, I cut them too. Finally it was just the 115VAC wires.
what the name of the song ??
