@USC2587 My best friend is a Distributor and I am a DT. I am telling you that they don't pay $250 for a Kirby. I have seen the orders. Do they pay what they sell them for? Of course not. There is a mark up just like with everything else that you buy. Everyone has to make money. As for the one that you sold for $800 and didn't get paid....well for a sale that low there isn't a lot of money. Lowball deals usually only pay out 25-50.

as stated above the kirbys are sold to the distribution center for a substantial discount less the half retail. that being said its up to the DISTRIBUTION COMPANY to pay you. I just started last week just got a paid vacation to go snowboarding with my girlfriend for 3 days and to top it off a $1600 pay check. If you think where you are starting work is a scam talk to the employees and look around make sure this company looks like it makes money. remember theres good and bad distribution centers

You can't say all Kirby Distributors are the same based on your personal experience. Just like in EVERY business you will find shady individuals. I work for C & S, Inc based out of Cranston Rhode Island and haven't experienced any of what you have. Before that I worked for a Distributor in San Antonio, Texas and he was a GREAT man who helped his people so much. Since I have been in Kirby I have made good money and it just continues to get better. My forst week I made 1500. My best month is 12K.
That month I was a Team Leader got a Gold Digger award for my team selling 86 in a month and won an awesome all expenses paid trip. Can someone here who is talking all this trash claim to have made this much in a month? Probably not. In Direct Sales Kirby has made more millionaires that any other. The second is Mary Kay. My experience is that those that come on here and talk shit are ones that tried Kirby and failed. In short you quit after a week or so and didn't sell. Boo Hoo.
You can TRY Kirby. Kirby will try you. It is definitely not for everyone but if you fail at it don't blame any one but yourself. You quit Kirby Kirby didn't quit you. There is no 'scam' going on here. We offer 500/week with no selling required but we make it clear that to get that 500 you MUST do 15 demo's within that week. The reason that we can offer that is because we know if a person does 15 demos in a week they WILL sell. Kirby does NOT claim that a new dealer will sell 2/3. It's 1/6.
A dealer that has been around awhile and has proven he can sell averages 1/3 (usually this is what we call a Silver K - someone who has sold at least 12 Kirbys.). An experienced Kirby dealer will do 1/2. I know a gut who one month actually averaged 2/1. Yup...2 Kirbys sold for ever Demo. The guy was a beast. He now runs his own office and drives a Lambo and has a Ferrari in his 4 car garage. Wow...he was scammed huh? It is a joke to hear you all say that. You all quit.

I make $1000 a week minimum. You just have to actually WORK. You get paid for working hard and not for the time you put in. I average 1/2 sales. All of you that think it's a scam just want to get paid to do as little work as possible. Kirby actually offers career opportunities. You sell 15 a month for 5 months (which is NOT hard) then you can open your own office and be a millionaire just like the distributor your working for. I currently work for them but not all places operate the same and things are quite different now than what is presented in this video. It's still a basic job in sales. You have a 50/50 chance of selling one anytime you get into a house and it's up to you to make it happen so you can make good money. I haven't made good money but I know the potential is there. The people I'm working with have been doing it much longer so they're pretty good... Just being fair for all of you.

My local Kirby and Rainbow distributors place probably 50 ads on Craigslist a week; they all get flagged by people who were ripped off. The same thing happens in every city in the US. They intentionally mislead with their ads saying "carpet cleaning" or "customer service". They always say "15 to 20 more people needed because of growing business"! Bull shit; if you could actually make money doing this, why is the turn over 100%? It took me an hour to realize it was door to door sales. SCAM
I experianced it too. I worked 93 hours in one week before I smartened up, but not before I realized, what had just happened. (I only made $50.00) I am sure some people could make good money doing it but they could make a lot more selling something for an hourly wage (9-12/hour) plus some commission which many jobs offer. @JohnofXian The distributor wanted to train us for management also. For this reason they tried to harass people into taking the job. They make you feel bad about leaving. This would require working the weekends. I'm a Catholic so I just told them that I could take the job because I had to go to church on Sunday. They left me alone. The funny thing is I had a similar experience being initiated into the Catholic church.

I dont think its a scam. I started in january and business has been good. I been selling about five units a week and make $2,000 and i made about close to $50,000 in 6 months. Not bad for a guy that just started.

I was never sent to doors by my "manager" I went out on my own an knocked on doors myself. I knew what I was getting into and as an independent rep of the company you are your own boss you make your money and you don't need a 1099 because your are and independent sales rep. Perhaps the distributor you worked for didn't give you all the details up front.
these offices double their money by making their emploees do all the work and only give them 10% on their sale. when i worked for them we started at 10am and ended at 10pm. we had no lunch break u had to eat in the van if u had lunch and u couldnt use the bathroom unless u used the customers bathroom. u walk all day and lucky to get one or two demos a day. best thing to do is start ur own carpet cleaning business. or open ur own kirby office

It's not a scam. I went to the orientation this whole week just to see what was up (knowing how everything worked already). You're "self-employed" so that you won't start a lawsuit with the distributors because of the extra long hours and no guaranteed pay. @kingbilly73ta James Kirby did NOT invent the vacuum cleaner (he did invent AN early vacuum cleaner, which undoubtedly had a few innovations, but it was by no means either the first vacuum (Daniel Hess, 1860) or first vacuum with powered suction (H. Cecil Booth, 1901).
@CamdenBloke he invented the patented bell head shape, which makes the kirby the only vacuum on the market, that can actually be called a vacuum.. others are just dirt suckers cause they dont create a seal.
No vacuum creates a true vacuum unless you hook it up to some kind of enclosed rigid chamber and suck all of the air out. You can't create a 'seal' with a permeable surface like a carpet, and even if you could, the bell shape head would have nothing to do with it. *All* vacuum cleaners suck on the carpet, and some of the stronger ones will lift up a bit a carpet not tacked down well.
Some of the details of training and pay vary from dealer to dealer but otherwise you have pretty much nailed it. I had pressure to sell to family and friends, myself.
@kingbilly73ta Congratualations to you. I find it horrific that you go to primarily elderly persons unable to afford their medications much less an overpriced vacuum. My father in law was scammed into buying a vacuum cleaner that he will never live to use as he is in ICU. And that "brand new" two thousand dollar piece of equipment we found is used as well. That is elder abuse on a whole new horizon. So glad many are able to sleep at night while having a parasitic mentality.

There is a mark up just like with everything else that you buy. Everyone has to make money. I work for C & S, Inc based out of Cranston Rhode Island and haven't experienced any of what you have. Before that I worked for a Distributor in San Antonio, Texas and he was a GREAT man who helped his people so much. Since I have been in Kirby I have made good money and it just continues to get better. My forst week I made 1500. My best month is 12K.

I make $1000 a week minimum. You just have to actually WORK. You get paid for working hard and not for the time you put in. I average 1/2 sales. All of you that think it's a scam just want to get paid to do as little work as possible. Kirby actually offers career opportunities. You sell 15 a month for 5 months (which is NOT hard) then you can open your own office and be a millionaire just like the distributor your working for. I currently work for them but not all places operate the same and things are quite different now than what is presented in this video. It's still a basic job in sales. You have a 50/50 chance of selling one anytime you get into a house and it's up to you to make it happen so you can make good money. I haven't made good money but I know the potential is there. The people I'm working with have been doing it much longer so they're pretty good... Just being fair for all of you.

My local Kirby and Rainbow distributors place probably 50 ads on Craigslist a week; they all get flagged by people who were ripped off. The same thing happens in every city in the US. They intentionally mislead with their ads saying "carpet cleaning" or "customer service". They always say "15 to 20 more people needed because of growing business"! I experianced it too. I worked 93 hours in one week before I smartened up, but not before I realized, what had just happened. (I only made $50.00) I am sure some people could make good money doing it but they could make a lot more selling something for an hourly wage (9-12/hour) plus some commission which many jobs offer. This would require working the weekends. I'm a Catholic so I just told them that I could take the job because I had to go to church on Sunday. They left me alone. Whats even more funny is that not only have i some how managed to accomplish this, I still haven't encountered a house where the people didnt want the vacuum and ive been working for kirby for 3 months.(with an average of two demos a day.)

Its fun you get to meet cool people, and if you are showing one to someone who can't afford it then don't do the paper work on it. Wow not only did I sell more then 2 a month I sold more then 2 a week any good sales person can sell to two out or three demo's. I was never sent to doors by my "manager" I went out on my own an knocked on doors myself. I knew what I was getting into and as an independent rep of the company you are your own boss you make your money and you don't need a 1099 because your are and independent sales rep. Perhaps the distributor you worked for didn't give you all the details up front.

these offices double their money by making their emploees do all the work and only give them 10% on their sale. when i worked for them we started at 10am and ended at 10pm. we had no lunch break u had to eat in the van if u had lunch and u couldnt use the bathroom unless u used the customers bathroom. u walk all day and lucky to get one or two demos a day. best thing to do is start ur own carpet cleaning business. or open ur own kirby office

It's not a scam. I went to the orientation this whole week just to see what was up (knowing how everything worked already). You're "self-employed" so that you won't start a lawsuit with the distributors because of the extra long hours and no guaranteed pay. No vacuum creates a true vacuum unless you hook it up to some kind of enclosed rigid chamber and suck all of the air out. You can't create a 'seal' with a permeable surface like a carpet, and even if you could, the bell shape head would have nothing to do with it. *All* vacuum cleaners suck on the carpet, and some of the stronger ones will lift up a bit a carpet not tacked down well.

@kingbilly73ta Congratualations to you. I find it horrific that you go to primarily elderly persons unable to afford their medications much less an overpriced vacuum. My father in law was scammed into buying a vacuum cleaner that he will never live to use as he is in ICU. And that "brand new" two thousand dollar piece of equipment we found is used as well. That is elder abuse on a whole new horizon. So glad many are able to sleep at night while having a parasitic mentality.
