  • windows 7 ultimate is on my acer aspire one d150 with 2gb ram and an intel atom n270 1.6ghz processor it works great even faster than xp

why would you put windows vista on one it would run like shit

  • @bcasey25raptor ya just 4runner said with 2 card readers 1 can be used for readyboost. It's way easier to use then xp and 2gb of ram runs GREAT with vista. 7 is a little over the AA1's capacity. It wasnt even designed for Vista. I have an aspire one d250 and it runs great with vista, even with the original 1gb.

  • your camera sucks dude, really bad, or is it the lighting in the room

  • I have Vista ultimate on my aspire one but its really glitchy and ever since my touchpad has not been able to work.

  • a vlited copy runs flawless on an aspire one AOA150... had to work a little magic with the drivers (since i have vista black), but its about as fast as when it had xp. i would have installed xp instead but i kept getting an 0x0000007b stop error... so i had to bite the bullet and try it out. i think im gonna keep it this way, the computer is more than able to handle my vlited vista, im sure a full blown home premium wouldnt be a problem.

  • Vista on this? Put on windows 7 or Xp it really cant handle vista.

  • i have the xp version on my acer it 1gb of ram 120 hdd way better the the acer with 8gb ssd that sucks

  • SSD is a helluva lot faster though!

  • because it less space on it i have 122 more gb see the differences???

  • i recommend putting xp back on because vista (in my opinion cuz i have it) is a piece of sh*t.

  • Vista SP2 is a pretty stable system and I really like it over xp because I do get better performance. This computer also has two card slots so you can fill one with an sd card and use it as a readyboost drive which helps.

  • I would highly suggest you not put vista on an Aspire One. Yes it will work but on a laptop like this you want to leech w/e performance you can for other applications. Vista is only going hurt you here.

  • it runs normal if you install vista home basic , i did it, it runs as if you still had xp on it. You may have to look for drivers but it runs normal

  • nice man, i wished i had such laptop :(

  • where did you find the drivers for the webcam (vista)?

  • i have apire one it rocks

  • you can get that with a flash drive right???

  • it shouldn't to have vista cause its too slow cause it haves 1.2 Ghz....

  • no it has 1.6 Atom and vista will work on 1ghz

  • granted it will run the OS with 1GHz

but not really useable beyond the OS, I've been designing computer systems for a few years now

  • your all stupid vista is obviously a heavier os just because its more visualy apealing and yes its going to run slow IF YOU DONT LOOK AT THE MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS. yes ok some times you get lucky but come on

  • this is a real computer or want or is only for internet

  • Hey there, would you know where to get a working driver for the webcam? The ones from the Acer website (for XP) don´t work....

  • wow your running vista with 512mb of ram? the resolution looks aweful, its sad it only supports *900 max.

  • Why's everybody amazed? Vista takes less to run and boots faster then xp when you turn off that aero/sidebar bullshit...

  • Ahahaha your way off buddy one of the major complaints about Vista was all the system recources it needed to run.

  • That was the major complaint from idiots with pentium 3 and intel gmas trying to run windows aero

  • Your a schmuck, Vista is a much heavier OS then XP or any other Windows OS for the matter its heavier then Leopard Tiger Ubuntu any Linux distro its actually the heaviest OS I've ever used my Acer One a150 runs it stupendous I couldn't believe it because of the size and the 8mb video card it has that's why you reject.

  • Like I said, turn off the stuff you don't need. That's what we had to do with XP, which also was the heaviest os when it came out.

  • Exactly but don't you realize that this tiny netbook comes with XP pre-installed and is made for XP so its an XP computer that is no bigger then half a book running such a heavy OS you jackass that's why people are amazed.

  • So it's made for XP, that doesn't mean you have to be shocked if someone puts anything else on it. I can put XP on a computer made for Vista.

  • Let me ask you do you own an aspire one?

  • I did actually, I took it back the last day of warranty because Acer moved the return key and \ key around to make it bilingual, which was a stupid move and resulted in me pushing \ every time I wanted to push enter. Was too much of a pain just to have a computer so small.

  • you sound like a douche.

  • Ok "kirbypwns'???? gayass

  • hI MY FRIEND , My name is oscar i wander if u have the linck for all the vista drivers..

    Sorry for my poor english..

    Have a greate Day

  • VISTA ARE U CRAZY DUDE!

  • Oh my God that accent reminds me of some dude trying to sell me a watch at the mall.. Lmao!

  • well that wasn't mean.

  • Haha I'm sorry for that dick move.

  • mhmm.

    also,

    i downloaded a 700mb version off of a webite i wont name.

can i just go ahead and put it on a thumb drive, or do i have to use vlite with that? thanks!

  • omg lol vista isnt saying it needs moe hard disk space?

  • Comment removed

  • so untrue, i have one and it works like a dream with xp, ubuntu, and vista. only thing thats bad about it is that it gets too much finger prints on it!

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao so does my acer laptop is makes me mad sometimes

  • It's easy if you have one of the 160GB models to partition the drive for XP using the Ubuntu Live CD and gparted. You can probably dual boot with either Vista or Ubuntu. Ubuntu comes with a boot loader called Grub which auto installs when ubuntu is installed. If you are able to get Vista installed on another partition, you could install Ubuntu on a third (you need at least 2 for Ubuntu) and you'd have a 3 way install.. I have XP and Ubuntu 8.10 on mine. I get wobbly windows in compiz on Ubuntu.

  • i pretty much like vista for its looks, and the cool sidebar and the tooblar, nothing else other than that i would prefer XP because if you have XP your PC will run faster because it takes less RAM.If XP had the cool Vista looks then i wouldn't like Vista.XP is a way better deal put only problem is,the looks suck. But overall i would use XP and use the Vista Inspirat 2 thing.and that is what i am doing.

  • yea thats really the only reason on why im using windows vista is for the cool aero graphics xp just hurts my eyes really bad lol

  • I think he used a software to give a Vista style to XP.

Because the thing booted in less than 1 minute!!!

  • Well could just be Vista basic, and it's on an ssd rather then a hdd so that helps a lot.

  • No he doesn't do that. He actually has the money to get Vista.

  • itss awsoommeeee !!!(H) i lovvee it

  • cool about how fast does it run i have it and is there a ram upgrade on it?

  • To run Basic you need 512MB RAM.

    Premium you need 1GB

    Ultimate you need 2GB

  • what the point? why pay £££££ for windows when you can pay nothing for linux its awsome if using opensuse 11.1 11 doesnt work with wifi not a lot of tweaking is needed

  • Good point there to be honest. Its just that not everyone likes it.

  • ugh i hate linux nothing i use works on it!

  • it works perfect windows doesnt ever work for me windows blue screen of death or 5 second boot of linpus hmm hard decision

  • It's not a 5 second boot it's a 20 second boot, and blue screen of death, as you call it, is not a flaw of windows, it's a flaw in the way manufacturers write drivers for windows...

  • who said he payed for it?

  • Thats Vista basic, not ultimate

  • Vista really comes in two flavors, 32-bit and 64-bit, the 32-bit version is essentially XP.. The 64-bit version is a new OS, they figured if they were going to have to refactor the code for a 64-bit processor they might as well redo it. So if you are installing 32-bit vista, this is a 32-bit processor, you are only installing it for cutesy graphics. If you want to amaze your friends, get Ubuntu 8.10 and set Appearances to "Extra", and play with wobbly windows. I'm going to do a video on it.

  • is it the complete version of vista or is a lite version an where i can download.

  • I think it's an N lited version of Vista

  • nice work. vista on the acer aspire one just aspired it to be $200 more out of the box.

    ubuntu baby. :)

  • lol i heard the atom was 1/2 the speed of a celeron i did a comparison 1.6ghz socket 478 celeron (my old pc) and 1.6 atom (my aspire 1) the atom beat the celeron by 10 seconds go figure :P

  • Is that Vista complete or Tiny Vista? ;)

  • I know the atom isn't weak, but that is quite a load on it :)

  • maybe windows 7 could work better....

  • poor little processor :(

  • dude, the atom is not a weak processor. this guy though, is dumb because he runs vista on an unsupported ssd drive which makes vista runs like shit. he shud have made an *embedded* install with EWF - sure beats the default linpus and iATKOS/kallyway. vista/win xp runs sweet.

  • Well...it's pretty useless having Vista on an Acer One...but it look cool...that's all it does...

  • windows black ftw!

  • U just fucked up your acer one ;D

  • YA jodiste todo el concepto de esta lap.Pendejo

  • I agree. Although there is no need to swear.

  • ok. Im sorry ;)

  • I must admit it was amussing though :-)

  • tienes razon no hay necesidad para insultar pero lo q hiciste fue bien pendejo jejeje :D

  • but vista does run a little cooler, as in temperature, than xp.. the fan doesn't go off as often and the whining noise won't be as apparent (if you have the fan control installed)

  • Actually you can't even hear the fan on the Acer Aspire One...I have it installed with XP and you can barely hear it...

  • damn! it loads vista pretty fast! hey mario! did u upgrade the RAM? what ram does it has?

  • im sorry ur a stupid fricken man like seirously?? ur retarded

  • You change Linux by Vista, that is stupid

  • Ahh, the power of argumentum ad nauseam.

You people are dug so deep in denial it's unbelievable.

All this bitching and moaning about Vista performance when it's undeniably performing *very* well in this video.

    Mass delirium.

  • Running Vista on Aspire One is like pulling a truckload of cargo on a Smart Fortwo. Beats the whole purpose!

  • absoltely agree... but its always nice to be able to see your fortwo pull a trucks load right? see how far u can push it.

  • extremely quick boot up!

  • utter pointless.

  • hahaha, now you can't even write a text without using the harddrive as memory. lol

  • I don`t think you need a laptop if you are gonna run that crap on it?

  • I hope whoever puts Vista on their Aspire One also decides to watch the memory upgrade how-to video. Vista can have such a crippling effect, especially with inadequate RAM or bad user/admin.

Personally XP home is sufficient and as long as I remember to backup all the crap on this machine I'm set. Now... to choose how I wanna do that.

  • putting vista in a subnote is a retarded idea, hp mini note has already shown us that with the performance and startup time

  • why do it???? i dont understand if u wanted vista you should of bought a totlly different machine like the acer predator???

  • I run vista and xp one the same pc, and actually I like it, because it's more stable than xp,when some program flips out it doesn't freezes it alerts you that some program just stopped working. Altough I have a pc with 4gb of ddr2-9200 ram (1200 mhz) and 1 TB of storage. But don't say shit if you dont know shit.vista is the worst blablabla that's a lie produced from people who hate it because it's not easy to hack it and download it illegaly.I;m David Software engineer and i approve this message

  • Vista is a poor OS. Run Server 2008 on the same spec and it will fly. I love the Vista interface, but the performance is appaling. I use Server 2008 and a vista transform and its the OS that Vista should have been.

  • Benchmarks, please.

  • If I'm not mistaken Windows 7 is being built off of Server 08 instead of Vista

  • i think u shuld have bought the 120gb version if u wer gonna install vista.

  • Was there any room left on the little SSD after you installed Vista? :P

  • LOL putting Vista onto an Aspire One. Excellent way to cripple a great little machine by using such the worst Windows edition ever made.

  • please stop using the internet

  • lol, I just owned myself by posting to an absolutely wrong place ;-)

  • I'm a little bit confused... Xp becoming slower and slower is a know fact. I don't remember exactly where it comes from. I know that once they had a problem with the garbage collector also with the registry(especialy when you do a lot of installs uninstalls). Maybe now with some updates it's better i don't know. And for Vista i never tryed to run it more than a day :p Really if i had to choose then linux is the best choice. It doesn't have those problems you don't even need to defragment.

  • mostly because because Vista sucks out all the memory available... So you pay this and you got a half functional pc...

  • whahah fucking great hes dutch :P

  • What a waste of performance and money putting Vista in this computer...

  • I installed Vista Business, and the Aero works great. It works fine with 1GB, but I might upgrade to 1.5GB (since I here it can't do 2GB). It runs Visual Studio 2008, SQL, Adobe CS# (with the exception of illustrater) pretty well. ...the only thing that didn't work at first was the WLAN, but if you download the XP version, it'll work.

  • This is just Vistamizer i think.

Look at the little Pic on start-button. It looks diffucult to the "real" Vista. If i think wrong tell me other... but i think its Vistamizer and Vistermizer doesn´t need 1024 of Ram.

I´ll use a skin of Alienware.

For xp there are the best skins.

Sorry for my bad english ;)

  • @ hairygoose... you cant put aero on this type of laptop, the video card wont support it. I could be wrong, but I'm like 99% positive.

  • with windows 7 you can i have ultimate and aero works great

  • I'm amazed you even got it running. XP is far better suited to such a small amount of storage and memory, along with the paltry speed of the Atom chip. Me, I'm fine with Linux.

  • the acer aspire one will not run aero unless you upgrade to 1gb ram because the graphics memory is shared with the ram. and to add to that the acer aspire one has a 8gb ssd flash memory not 4gb... and a full vista installation is 7.5 gb and service pack one adon for vista will make the install 9gb - 10gb

  • Can you please get the latest video drivers and show the youtube community how aero runs! thanks zstee18!

  • u have vista in this computer??

what is the size of your "flash memory" or do u have a hard disk 2.5"´?

  • Size is 4GB on flash (SSD)

  • ohh i see.

but the instalation is 4Gb, isn't?

i install xp in this computer and i put more 1GB of Ram

but my computer is a litle slow in loader completely the system.

    tks

  • amazying

Your boot up speed much faster than my xp system.

Does the harddisk space of aspire enough for your vista for normal operating?

  • Could you show some footage of Vista Aero? And is the RAM upgradeable? How many slots? THANKS!

  • Nice laptop, but to be honest its not that fast by the looks of it.

I would've expect more from SSD...

But ive read Vista cant handle SSD that well, cause the drivers are not optimal and its hard to make them optimal due to the way Windows works.

  • would you say it slow ?

and would you recomend vista on it?

  • You can place one extra DDR2 memory (512 or 1GB). Vista with 512 is not very fast as XP on the One, but workable. Only the shutdown process takes 1,5 minute

  • It has the Intel 945 VGA, it should handle Auro, but haven't tested it yet.

  • Can it handle Windows Aero?
