  • Take notes!

  • ? wow man ive been trying to find all the super nice comping ive heard everyone told me to check out! i cant find anything like type anthony jackson stuff like super nice when he recorded r&b can someone shoot me a video of verdine or sugest me wicht one to listen cause that video its not a bad bass line but its not amaizing its just a normal groove! plz

  • Verdine is one of the greatest bass players in modern Pop/Rocl music.

Many people in our days think: bassplaying is all about, how fast you can slapp, how many notes you got in one bar, ....wrong.

In my opinion a real cool playing is find a nice line, that gives basement to the song, is catchy like a melody and leaves as many notes out that are not supporting the song or the groove. In that way Verdine is a hero!

Also Peter Cetera from Chicago was one of the most underrated players on Rock/Pop

  • @terrykathforever totally agree with you...These cats today don't know real bass playing. They're too busy showing off their slap skills.

  • very good ^^

  • he looks like hes just eatin his neighbours for lunch, and still chewin on the leg bone, god dammit it.....

  • any muthafucker on here dissing Verdine on ANY level should kill themselves now...he is a BASS MASTER !!!!! this little shit he's doing right now at a showcase means NOTHING or compare to what he's done over the last 40 years !!!!!

  • most of the bassist flaunting their skills on you tube by sounding like everybody else,Probably couldnt keep a groove like verdine or the rest of the rocking steady old timers

  • most of the bassist flaunting their skills on you tube by sounding like everybody else,Probably couldnt keep a groove like verdine or the rest of the rocking steady old timers

  • ohh poor great musicians of the past, they don't realize that they have something so much more special than these worthless youtube shredders, they feel insecure with these kids doing all these "amazing" meaningless things.. all you kids on youtube who've never played in a band for your life, stop talkin' shit, because you aint shit.

  • @xaiesque12 Amen to that!!!!

  • I might also add that Carole Kaye sounds like crap solo also but noone could ever deny her influence on the instrument and many of those who play it.

  • I agree with most of the comments regarding this sounding pretty bad. The interesting thing about Verdine White - to me is that...for a bassist it really "doesn't matter" (pls understand d the context) that he sounds like crap by himself. He sounds AMAZING when he fuels the groove machine that is EWF. Likewise there are MANY bassist that sound KILLER by themselves doing a thousand licks a second but couldn't groove their way out of a paper bag. "You" KNOW it's truth. As a bassist VW is gr8.

  • @Blyss I agree totally

  • I can believe this guy was the EWF's bassist, the worst I listened in a long time.

  • At the end he said "Yeah" as if he'd played something good. It was rubbish.

  • heavy groove V

  • Question: how many timer he plays this riff xd

  • што это было?

  • How tall is Veridine White?

  • LOL

I've got no doubt the man can play.

    But THAT playing, RIGHT THERE.

    Now that was absolutely terrible....

  • You'll have to look far and wide to find a bassist who can groove WITH A BAND like this man can. The comments on his looks are so pathetic. He's a good-hearted man and one hell of a musician. Live long, Verdine.

  • @bartolemeo

There's a real bassist playing backstage. Verdine is only doing a show.

  • Love that riff.

  • holy crao he looks like a Predator!! crazy hair and everything!

  • @ELTOVAR07 Again with the looks?? People get a life! And maybe show a little respect for a living legend.

  • one of the most incredible bassist/entertainers to watch

  • bass line from their biggest hit "Let s Groove", simple, precise and well written, a genuine demonstration of traditional style of bass playing which fender has helped developped.

  • I'm real bass player and too be able to watch a legend in a up close warm up riff is like manna for me... thanks Verdine...and you look marvelous to me - as always.

    KassBass

  • @kassbass2010 - I'm a real Bass Player too, and I agree with ya!

  • Finally let me type this,Stevie Wonder can outwrite, outplay, out produce, arrange anybody out there! Very few keyboardist are on Stevie's level, maybe Greg,Chick,Herbie,BernieRick,George a few others. As a songwriter, maybe Burt,Lionel & a few others, but Stevie is the best. While you all dissin Verdine, look at the Beatles & Stones, then talk 2 me about overrated!

  • Lennon & McCartney wrote simplistic ass songs that sold gazillions,Stevie Wonder can & did outwrite their asses any day of the week! The Stones are another highly overrated band,EWF would've owned both The Beatles & Stones in their hey-day. Elvis has a signature model acoustic guitar that sells for almost 7.000,yet he could'nt even play a guitar. Kiss routinely used studio musicians to record their records, but fooled the public into thinking it wasPeter & Ace.

  • 1st of all,Verdine is just riffin on the bass,to get a feel for how his fingers move up & down the frets,& to get a feel for the strings sheesh! 2nd of all, just goes to show you how people are so dumb-downed(you're watching a member/bass player of the greatest group in music, yet all you can do is make fun of how bad YOU think he look. Let's have a conversation about the overrated BEATLES & Stones!

  • how can you dummies diss Verdine White? he can play circles around all you clowns! Verdine is a living legend!

  • Rock on Vdub... it's all about the white widow..

  • good God!! What happened?

  • 2 thumbs down

  • Beam me up Verdine

  • there's klingons on the starboard bow

  • @Vehement78 I think you owe me another computer screen. Mine is almost ruined from the soda I just spit all over it LMBOOOO

  • @Vehement78 You took my line... hahaha

    EWF legend right there!

  • @Vehement78 It's so easy to diss someone for how they look. Abe Lincoln was fugly but considered our greatest president. Louie Armstrong and Miles Davis were as fugly as Abe but they were as influencial in jazz as Abe was to politics. He may not be easy on the eyes but he is one of the most influencial bassist of his era!!!!! Deal with it and get a life!! P.S.......I'd love to get a look at you and pass judgement as you do!!

  • @nidiaaw Jeeez, you really need to develop a sense of humor! If he wasn't the bassist he was I wouldn't feel able to have a light joke (and that's what it was) about a passing resemblance....LIGHTEN UP!

  • A whole succession of videos of bassists looking vexed and sounding horrible.Nice!

  • best comment i've read today....and so true. What's wrong with fender these days.

  • The guitars are pretty nice but there seems to be a whole level of marketing management with chimps queueing up, ready to do a better job.Lol

  • @fendermac Those brand new basses sound terrible! What is that made of? Poplar???!!

  • @evandropitanga ,,,I have absolutely no idea why you are asking me this question.I am not fendermusical but I guess what they would say is check their website

  • @fendermac Apparently you don't don't great bass playing when you hear it. People nowadays are so used to hearing machines play "music" for MC's that you can't deal with a REAL musician laying it down like it's supposed to be!

  • @nidiaaw ...I believe I am allowed to hold and express an opinion without being patronised by someone who doesn't know me, telling me what I might or might not think about 'machines' and how I must feel about sound quality. If you spent more time reading and less time attacking people you would realise the direction in which my comment was aimed.I may be wrong but you seem like an uptight fool.

  • @fendermac What's with the name calling? Whatever I said to you I never called you out of your name.

  • @nidiaaw ...You really don't register what you read do you? "I may be wrong..." but that's what you still seem like. This conversation is now over.

  • @fendermac Saying "you may be wrong" but you still calling me or suggesting to me that I "may be" a fool is not cool. Now this conversation is over.
