Nice list. I also love The Thing and Alien, and I have always wanted to see the original Halloween. I also like the American "Grudge" film, but I like the Japanese version too. I thought that Sarah Michelle Gellar was the only one who had the guts to face that ghost while everyone else just got scared.
I got to see The Thing in the cinema, even though I was a toddler when it came out. They did a recent showing on the big screen, I'd seen it a lot of times before but it was still brilliant seeing it on the big screen, was a great day. I also love the American The Grudge, and yeah, the adaptation is near-identical, just bringing the same movie to English-speaking audiences, even keeping the same director, this is the way I think they should do all remakes of foreign films.
Thumbs way up, I've agreed with everything on the list so far. They in particular was intersting, because only learend about the film a few weeks past. Someone used it for an excellent mock Silent Hill movie 2 trailer. Seeing you review it only amped my anticipation for watching the film. Which will do, soon as my girl and I have the time to sit down and watch it together. :)
Ever since I was a little girl, my family and I always watch Salems Lot every year on Halloween. It was a movie that came out when my parents were younger, which really makes it kind of a bonding moment for us. I also think that because Salems Lot takes place in an actual town, it's scarier to see in your home since you can practically imagine the vampires appearing in front of your window at night, trying to get you to let them in.
Interesting. I will have to check out the american version of the Grudge, as I loved the original Japanese version. What are both versions of The Ring like? Those films I am quite interested in seeing.
@Nightmare060 I've never actually seen Ringu, the original Japanese Ring film but I have seen and do own the American "Ring" film and I will discuss about that film in my second part.
@Nightmare060 I loved Ringu better than the Ring.. Because they went more into the story.. Plus they had a lot more Ringu movies to add to the story. But i love the ring too. And the Grudge was a lil different than Ju-on.. But i loved them both.. both kicks ass to me. i love foreign horror movies... A lot better than american horror movies.

Eh, I agree with you on a good bit of these movies. Apart from They. . . . .They (produced by Wes Craven) was sorta.......direct to videoish to me.
Otherwise a great list you're shaping up.

what if John Carpenter found the original script for the resident evil movie and he directed it?

Good list. The only one I haven't seen on the list so far is The Grudge. Since Halloween is coming up now seems like a good time to watch it.
