  • This is BWV 542..not 541..:-S

  • around the 4th minute, I had tears...incredible....thank you Bach.

  • ummm not to be too picky, but it's Waltershausen, not Waltershousen ;-)

  • wow, i just stumbled into a goldmine

  • The organ has a strange arrangement of the stops lol

  • That final G-major chord was positively orgasmic!

  • I've been to an organ maker in Utah and seen how intricate and involved the craft is. I can't imagine the man hours put into that masterpiece

  • Isnt this BWV 542 not 541?

  • I ALWAYS mix this video up with lil fugue in g minor...... i feel like i got rickrolled....

  • i was quite confused until I discovered you mistaked the title: should be 542/2 instead of 541/2

  • cazzo!poteva tenerlo di più l'ultimo accordo di tonica!

  • @guldalex Pazienza, perchè ho il fiero sospetto che l'esecuzione sia in una sorta di playback!

  • Why must we trade in video and audio quality in order to get those last 3 seconds? I think I prefer to watch the first video with its full-size picture and stereo sound.

  • He should wear a real bowtie

  • Hans Andre Stamm!!!!!!!

  • At 1:48 you can see a trill in the right hand but no trill in the audio!!!! :-)

  • you are mistake, i heard the trill followed by a chord held for full value, you need to watch and listen to it carefully

  • you are wrong, its because of the organs have air blowing and if you make a fast trill it would sound like stiking the two notes at the same time, thats how it is with the old organs i dont know if they can change that now

  • @friedrichsacher I heard the trill...

  • @friedrichsacher

    Yes, there is.

  • @friedrichsacher I hear the trill.

  • @friedrichsacher

it takes a while to let in the air in those pipes...

if you do this with (most) of the lower and even some higher pipes. the finger just isnt pressed on long enough to let the air sound through it.

    "The more you know"

  • Hermoso

  • Oh my goodness, I love Bach's music. I'm not sure if anybody else will every be able to create such enrapturing music.

  • Forse 542/2

  • This is BWV 542 by the way. ;-)

But as always I enjoy master Stamm's excellent performances.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL from 0:34( 3 cards) to 1:33 ( 6 cards)

    When he did it??????

    hmmmm....photo-montage?? :D:D

    he plays very good :)

  • Yeah, and the coppel attached in first part, and detached in second... ;)

  • I am not quite understand what are you trying to say :D

  • Im a fellow jerk from Chicago US and honestly when I hear music I shed tears. Former classical clarinetist here from Boston. I could listen all night to youtube. Thanks for the post.

  • OK, can anybody tell me why while on 3:55 the lower manual is coupled, whereas on 4:05, (with the same registration) the coupler is off?

  • Comment removed

  • because the couplers are controlled by the feet

  • yea, but the sound is the same, with or without couplers.

  • then I am not too sure...but sometimes the difference in sound is really subtle. It may sound the same to you in Youtube, but may make a difference for audience there

  • Yes Ntalikeris666 - they are off with no noticable sound difference. I did think that this was due to the pedel being uncoupled from the great - but i don't think so. Maybe theres a professional organist on here who might clarify??

  • Probably a editing misstake.

You can see these kind of filming errors in many videos on youtube.

  • yea thats the most likely.

  • What exactly does BWV, and the number following it stand for?

  • It' s basically a categorizing system for the pieces made by Bach - there's a lot. BWV stands for Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis, German for Bach-Works-Catelogue. There is a lot of pieces so this basically categorizes them into his works.

  • More specifically, the BWV categorizes Bach's works by genre, rather than order of composition.

Similar schemes are used for other composers. E.g., HWV for Haendel,

    BuxWV for Buxtehude.

  • the paper shrinks as he's playing!

  • As somebody just said, this is BWV 542/2.

    541/2 is the G-Major fugue.

    Nevertheless, great work!

  • Bach...

  • i say that too when i hear pieces like this all the time...with disgust in my voice...cuz it makes me sick how amazing he was...jerk.

  • What?

  • you know...when some is outstanding...and you are just like "ugh why can't i do that?!?". i'm a lover of bach's music...but i get filled with jeaslousy which is later overcome by great joy and astonishment.

  • In my opinion, J.S. Bach's greatest Organ Fugue ever written. Hooray for Bach! =D

LOVE this fugue. Im trying to memorize it at the moment, and can definitly appreciate technical playing of this magnitude... Wow. Beautiful!

  • i say that the fuge from passacaglia in c is his best.

  • I wish I'd been there when this piece was being plaid...!

  • This is the fugue of BWV 542,not BWV 541

  • Bachs best Fuge

  • Meh, the fugue in BWV 565 is really good.

  • I love this a lot! Organs fascinate me, especially when pieces such as this are played really well. But I was wondering why it sounds like it's in A-flat minor when it looks like he's playing in G minor? It doesn't really bother me, but I'm curious: is it the recording equipment, or is it the organ?

  • historical oragan tuning is not like as modern tuning. it depends on the builder at the time of that partcular organ was assembled. There was no absolute consensus as to i.e. A=440 or anything.

  • Probably 'authentic' temperament and pitch which makes it sound flat to your ears I guess.

  • Good call. This organ (Trost organ of Waltershausen) uses a modified meantone temperament with A=466.8 HZ which makes it sound about a semitone higher.

  • That's what I was thinking! But why?

  • very well performed fugue BWV 542/2 :-)

  • ahhhh wow i love this piece!! and he plays it extremely well on a beautiful instrument!! thank you for posting :)

  • I thought that people wanted to see the full piece rather than the old video which was cut short by 3 seconds at the end. So here is the re-upload.

  • @clashtitans2 thanks for the correction. I enjoyed it very much!!!

  • @clashtitans2 thanks for this. the last 3 seconds of the piece somehow seem most important!
