  • Great Job!!

  • She makes it look so damn easy.

  • Why are people commenting on her race? It doesn't affect her talent, which is spell binding! An amazing performance.

  • I Love Love it, I wish I can understand it...

  • @sosoathomeworking If you want to know words/context, this performance has English subtitles: /watch?v=Yb3y6k2lzJQ

  • etsi gamaei h ellada...thats how greek deserve to be in the frist places

  • etsi gamaei h ellada

  • she is singing about how she is like a bird and that she might love you one day, but the next day she may be on to the next man

  • idk why but i love this song

  • I don't know what she's saying, but....she's singing it in my favourite language **which I'm not good at** and she sounds GREAT!!!....go french! =p

  • you can see in her face she's Romanian. Not an insult

  • @alarik95 why, do we have some distinctive features, I think if she had a name such as "Angela von Barron" you would have never suspected!

  • @MMiraJeS actually I woudn't, because I don't judge by name... I judge by face. I didn't even know Gheorghiu is romanian. For all I know her name could've been African cause her dad was from Niger. I don't care. So you are just on of those people who base things wrong. Appearance can be deceiving, but often times it's right.

  • @alarik95 Oh yes you do judge by name. You can't tell if a person is Romanian or say Hungarian, heck alot of times you can't even tell if a person is Romanian or French! I agree that if you took a thousand french people and a thousand romanian people then you would see a little difference, but claiming you're able to tell exactly which country a specific person is from is just being a racist. People aren't really that different.

  • @fefaqet2 no sir, you are racist. Since there is only one human race, there is no way to be actually 'racist' and if you use the word "racist", then you are someone who is "racist" in the way other people mean it, in other words, the way people judge others by complexion of skin. And I can't judge her name, I've never seen a name like that before. If you told me I'm racist because I have the ability to guess someone's origin by clothing, eye depth, eye color, cheeks, and hair, then fuck you.

  • @alarik95 Getting a little nitpicky are we? Just cut the bull, you know what i'm talking about.

  • @fefaqet2 No I don't.

  • wonder whats she's singing about.

  • that woman can sing!

  • canta hermoso

  • enorme placer escuchar a esta mujer y ver como lo hace, simplemente bellisima!!!!

  • 199 people don't enjoy music

  • It is interesting that the two Gheorghiu clips on youtube with the highest number of views - Vissi d'arte and Habanera - are pieces outside the range of a lyric soprano, yet Angela keeps getting classified as a lyric soprano. I'd say she proved herself to be lyric-dramatic or spinto, rather than simply lyric.

  • I simply love that song!

  • bet most people saying their Romanian are mostly American. -_-

  • @LLawliet197

hehehehehehehe I bet too that many Romanians would love to be in US right now, but don't let yourself be mislead about the fact that we all write in English. Most of Romanian people speak two or three and sometimes even four languages (of course not every single person in Romania does that), :) and I also am proud off too!

  • @dragosnarcis many do, im not trying to lower your ethnicity/race or anything im just saying :/ but thats good :D BE PRIDEFUL OF WHAT YOU ARE >:D

  • @LLawliet197 You bet wrong, I think true Romanians are proud of being Romanians and never forget their roots. We might have many bad things about us but we have that charm that makes foreigners who visit our country be fascinated, we have that joy, those traditions, that simplicity that many other countries forgot.

  • Truly amazing!

  • Im a romanian and she made me Proud ;)

  • I liked seeing the people in the audience smiling and singing along. That was awesome. :)

  • So elegantly beautiful!!

    Earle Loxton

  • OMG beyond description. Like *1000 times

  • OMG! This was beyod beautiful! Courage theCowardly dog show did this magnificent song no justice! i'm in love with this woman's voice!

  • nice video

  • Enchanting and lovely:) I can't see this video enough.

  • @WebkinzKitty91 Then don't comment retard..

  • What? This was amazing but yeah I know she's no kesha

  • I really would like to have seen her in costume and doing this with the action and movement to match the passion of her voice

  • Toata admiratia, jos palaria, Romania

  • she looks in pain

  • Amazing..

  • Good rendition. But it´s not the grace of interpretation will feel from Mme. Callas at Convent Garden. Opera is not just voice, but emotion and, even, charisma.

  • @csabarabh - yes but you can not the perfect acoustics and the stage of Covent Garden with an an outside podium on a chilly evening in Amsterdam.

  • I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR MONTHS

  • she is Romanian!!

  • thumbs up daca Sinteza Zilei (Mihai Gadea) te-a facut s-o cauti pe YouTube pe Angela Gheorghiu !!

  • People like her make me proud to be Romanian. :)

  • @IIxXDarthRevanXxII My friend you should always be proud of your country :) Think about all the art and gymnasts!

  • @IIxXDarthRevanXxII pride in nationality (an accident of birth) is fucking stupid.

  • @volound Ah, but is it,really? I think not, given the fact that 90% or more of the world's history was built by people with national pride. Also, one who's not proud of his ancestors seems more stupid to me. Still, as long as we do not turn our pride into arrogance, I see no real reason as to why being proud of one's nationality is a bad thing.

  • That's vocal talent for sure!!

  • Did anybody else find this song because of the Doritos mouse commercial

  • so smooth. i get chills everytime i watch this

  • I don't really like opera but i could listen to this women singing all day!

  • the amazing talent this women carries

  • is that french?

  • @pSykEtZeR This song doesn't really sound French when sung, but it is French :)

  • The Best !

  • clap clap clap clap!

  • W0W 100% and more I love it !!!! Carmen ! Rocks !!!

  • This is my favorit..

  • best voice in world

  • it looks like shes having the best time singing this

  • Muy bien,excelent acompañamiento e interpretacion.

  • Sometimes I'm jealous that I'm not a mezzo, they can steal any soprano's thunder, she just reminded me of that...........

  • She's out of this world, she can do mezzo better than probably all mezzos around! hahahaha

  • Romanian women !

  • Only 2.7 million views!? >.<

  • awesome

  • I guess it's ok. But I would pick my opera singers on their voice and not their looks.

  • @musicamw23 it's an opera not a play

  • Bravo!

  • Prima! Amazing!!!

  • I'm 16 and I understand that this is REAL MUSIC (not crap like they try to play today) I absolutely LOVE this piece, and the play too!

  • @musicamw23 You mean the full opera Carmen, right? Yes, it's a fantastic opera. Did you watch the Met HD broadcast of Carmen last year? PBS does play operas too at least in some areas.

  • This has to be the most beautiful song in the world

  • Chociaż słucham innej muzyki takiej jak:

    - pop

    - rock

    czasami, metal

To ten utwór wpada w ucho :)

  • makes me as a Romanian proud :)

  • I wish I could attend one of these masterpieces. No need for any sophisticated box nor balcony. Just be part of attendance there before the day I die.

  • I think im starying to fall in love with this music ! & Im Hispanic , Hispanics wouldnt listen to this ! But I Love it, it calms me down

  • @imkewliosz beautiful music knows no racial boundaries.

  • @imkewliosz It's not true that Hispanics wouldn't listen to it. Many of today's top opera singers are from Latin America, and there are opera theaters in most Latin American countries. A lot of people all over the world these days aren't very familiar with opera, but there are people of all races and backgrounds who know and love it. If you want to listen to top Latin American opera singers check out Juan-Diego Florez, Ana Maria Martinez, Ramon Vargas, Marcelo Alvarez, Eglise Guitierrez, etc.

  • 187 people disliked this video, because when they saw it, they jizzed in their pants so hard that they cant get the stains out.

  • Do you know how to download this video

  • at keepvid.com pasting youtube url and pressing download

  • @Ruben225592 maybe a youtube downloader

  • elegantly powerful! beautiful!

  • I am a Mexican-Romanian girl...I am inspired by Angela to become a soprano....no matter the critics of 187 people.

  • Que bella voz y mavillosa musica no entiendo nada pero eso no importa me gusta eso es todo.

  • @LitaDongo la opera entera habla de las desventuras de un soldado que lo deja todo por el amor de una gitana

  • frumos

  • Comment removed

  • Para disfrutar

  • she is so off.... LOL beautiful

  • thank you for this angel

  • What amazing vocals! Can someone who is fluent in french/native french speaker translate the lyrics or at least type the french lyrics -it's easier to read the words than to hear them, especially when they're sung in an opera

    -kendra <3

  • @kendrat199

For such a beautiful song and one of my favorites...youll find the lyrics somewhat disconcerting, maybe its best to just hear and not process what she says. There is a line that says,Love is a gypsy's child,

it has never, ever, known a law; - inexcusable no matter how beautiful

  • @kendrat199 There are videos here of habanera that have English subtitles - this one for example sung by Garanca at the Met /watch?v=OV-ZfCWM3qo also one sung by Antonacci at the Royal opera.

  • @jewelmarkess thank you so much for this treasure!!

  • @kendrat199 You are welcome. I found the first one only recently by accident.

  • @jewelmarkess well thank you once again ^^. Have a great day!! :P

  • 5,047 like this cuz they f'cked her throat.

  • @xXxcharmaine Onassis on his Yacht like a slave and the poor girl lost her vocal cords because of too many Blowjobs just for two boat. Then she lost her sight what a soprano. Ha, ha, ha!

That's the reality Dear Sir Malaka! You don't fuck where you should be right to do it, so now you are degenerated people asking many to survive in European Union. You're going to be DEFAULTED!

    Back where you belong!

  • @xXxcharmaine No Dear Sir that was Maria Callas when she has been bought slave by Onassis to sing on the boat in Mediterranean sea that's why she lost her vocal cords to many Blowjobs and for what for just two boats Onassis gave it to her. HA! HA! HA! Finally she turn blind, too. You confuse Angela with Maria , Malaka! Soon youall are going be DEFAULTED which means back in poverty because nobody's gonna give you money for nothing! Have a nice day! If you like more challenge me, I'm ready, too!

  • The user eranmargalit has just posted Angela Gheorghiu's rendition of another famous aria of Carmen: Seguedille. Check it out!

  • ...it's interesting

  • there's something about opera music that i just love, probably the fact that it requires the singer to actually sing, unlike the crap that we have today

  • Si je' taime prends guard à toi!

  • Magnifique. brava!

  • @2:41 sounds like she sed bieber fever!

  • stitch and hoho GO DIE you damn niggers

  • There's nothing like carmen to relax, such a beautiful voice and song

  • are you guys serious?!??!? this song isn't just from the movie Up you jackasses! its from the original opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. It was made in 1800s you dumbfucks. i learned this in the second grade in music class. The movie Up got it from that you know nothing morons! These guys are singing an ORIGINAL opera piece. Google it retards

  • @hoho2262 Agreed! I used to love that song from Up! Then these idiots ruined it for me... It honestly doesn't even sound good....

  • @Stitch137 lmao u trollin bruh?

  • @hoho2262 America doesn't have any sopranos. They just start an action of discovering talents in Harlem and end up with rap music which you guys are crazy about. The last one was Grace Bumbry which has been honored by guess who: Angela Gh. at Kennedy Centre. Wait for that kid Jakie Evanko. If they going to help her to send her to anice music school like Julliard then we will have a real soprano to be proud of her

  • @alexliliryan uh, Renee Fleming?

  • @emilygkane My apology, I thought she New Zealander I don't know why!

  • @alexliliryan What are you talking about???? Have you ever been to an opera? No sopranos in the US? What about Renee Fleming, Rachelle Gilmore, Patricia Racette, Angela Meade, and many others. Before there were Leontyne Price, Martina Arroyo, June Anderson, and many many others. Oh, and there are many many more opera singers graduating today than jobs. And by the way, Grace Bumbry is a mezzo soprano - maybe you should learn something about opera before commenting on it?

  • @jewelmarkess I see that you have an answer for every body, its good to know so much things concerning opera and probably you have some education in this field; I wouldn't dare to challenge you. I just got the DVD La Rondine with Angela Gheorghiu and her husband Roberto Alagna recorded at Met and at the end as a bonus Renee Fleming's taking an interview to both of them. She sings nice and she 's beautiful soprano or mezzo whatever.

  • @alexliliryan Sure she is - a soprano by the way. I saw this performance of La Rondine, it was broadcast on PBS (public tv) in our area, and I thought it was fantastic and I enjoyed it a lot. You are the one who claimed there are no American sopranos when there were and are many excellent ones, and if you expand your horizons a bit and listen to many different opera singers you might enjoy them too.

  • @jewelmarkess Where they sing in Tel Aviv, Israel? At Met is Anna Netrebko prima donna! That's it!

  • @alexliliryan When were you at the Met the last time? Have you bothered to check their schedules? FYI:1. there are many types of soprano and mezzo soprano voice and no single soprano or mezzo - dramatic, spinto, lyric, coloratura can be the only prima donna. 2. The Met produces 20+ different operas every season and multiple performances of the same opera, no single singer even sings in all performances of same opera. Instead of showing your ignorance why don't you just check Met website.

  • @alexliliryan Just to add: the Met's season is from last week of September to mid-May with 7 performances a week. There are many primadonnas performing there. I am not going to argue who is better or worse as at this high level of singing it's a matter of personal preference, I suggest you listen to more than a couple of singers before you are sure whom you personally prefer. This is a preview of the Met HD broadcasts for next year - only small subset of all performances: /watch?v=eBVFBAT92Vg

  • @hoho2262 There's something wrong with you. literally

  • @hoho2262 Are you really so ignorant or just pretending? This isn't a song from the movie, it may have been used in a movie - actually it was used in many movies and commercials - but it's an aria from opera Carmen written in the 1800s. Maybe you should take some music appreciation course or something before you parade your ignorance. Oh, and the lyrics here are original too.

  • The best voice God put in this world

  • This is pure awesomeness

  • Listen to her «Vissi d'arte» from «Tosca» and if she does not make you cry out, get help :) Only Callas ever moved me like that in that aria.

  • Maybe not "better" than Callas, but Gheorghiu is the first opera singer who has ever thrilled me with goose bumps in a same way Callas did. The drama and theatrical depth in her voice is just fabulous.

  • im looking for this like 3 years now

  • 183 EMPTY HEADED NEANDERTHALS!!!

  • @FSX73 Better than Callas!! LMAO! You're 'gonna wait a long time to ever see that happen. Don't hold your breath. Sorry, it ain't ever 'gonna happen.
