i dont care what the video footage says, at the end of the day on paper the bandit 600 s is quicker on acceleration. But dependant on the rider is dependant if you make good use of the potential power to get that acceleration. Basically the bandit rider needs to grow a set and thrape that fuckin engine

@Davetts92 :i don't think that old bikes are bad : most are wonderful like GSXR 1100, many Ducatis,Triumphs, Hondas and most of japanese's bikes and europeans bike but ER5 is a different kind of bike for beginners and driving school so it is a little bike, cheap. i agree that it is a reliable bike but it has only 50Hp so it is normal that it is reliable : it is an economic bike so not performant, not a high torque for a twin. ER5 has no personnality compared to a Ducati Monstro 600

(added on from last post) The er5 won because it was a short distance and the 5 is quicker off the line than a bandit and lighter, also look at the er5 rider he looks over his shoulder just before the finish line as the bigger bandit picks up its speed and makes use of its power but is too late.  Both are great bikes but the bandit is quicker on the straights, thats my 2p worth

Er5 won by a bike length at the white line, black bike is er5 look at the front wheel its a er5 wheel and only has one front disc, look at the radiator protectors, look at the blue bike the bandit it has 4 down pipes, on the way up it has a brakes disc facing us on the way back down you can see another brake disc thats two brake discs!!! i own a er5 (laugh if you want) and i have used the naked bandit 600 alot and i know the bandit is much faster, but look at the distance they raced

Just to settle this pointless debate, the blue one with the fairing that wins within the last few seconds is the BANDIT. If you seriously can not tell the difference you then have serious issues and maybe you should question the real model of your OWN bike.

3.6 secs? i checked and it said for the naked B6 its 4.06 secs to 60mph (was in one of the bike mags, they used proper gps stuff to get an accurate reading, the kawasaki Z1000 took 3.56 secs to 60mph)

well looking around on the net i couldn't find real stats for my bike (bandit 650s) so i took the average time i found thats why i said 3.6 but either why the bandit is faster and all the way the er5 was in the lead, even from the start thats not right the point was the rider of the bandit is shit!!! if you can find the proper stats then please tell me!

(btw the hornet 600 is 3.7 so its not far from that)

What's a er5 ninja 650? The er5 is 498cc! Yes on paper the bandit should be quicker but wasn't here! The er-5 may have an advantage off the line as it's a twin.....which tend to do well away from the lights.

Peak horsepower isn't everything. Twins are often better away from the lights than inline fours due to a torque advantage at lower revs. I'll leave this as my last comment as I can tell you are young......and can't resist willy waving, which becomes tiring to respond to!

u are correct. they usually have a larger stroke than an equivalent size 4 cyl giving more low end torque. take a look at a vfr 750 vs gsxr 1000 vid and superkat600 will get our point. V and I-2 make good torque and not high end hp

say WHAT? torque will give excellent off the line acceleration compared to a high strung 4 cyl. torque is what gets u out of corners super quickly instead of having to downshift in a wailing 4 cyl... a ninja 650r makes the ~ same amount of torque as a kawasaki 636, no joke. not only does it come a lot quicker/earlier in rpm range its flatter. whereas the 636 produces peak torque very high rpm. still not convinced torque doesn't matter? watch VFR 750 vs gsxr 1000, u'll get the point.

listen douchebag. lets make it clear. torque and hp work together, best setup :torque low end, flattens out in high end. hp (little off the line) and then climbs steadily and maxes out for 3k rpms to redline. torque is best for a tight circuit to get u out of turns fast. top end hp best for open circuits with long straights to utilize that powerband

katana's suck. all except the old 80's ones. they're boats on wheels and get no respect. the only good thing about it is that it sounds good cause its a 4 cyl. otherwise it weighs a lot, makes little hp compared to its engine size. get urself a gsxr s-rad in any size, those are one of the most beautiful suzuki sport 4 cyl bikes.

This is clearly the ER5 due to the distinctive radiator housing and the fact the nearside bike has 4 downpipes!

Bandits usually come naked, but this chappie has obviously gone for a semi fairing.
