sweet, sweet roses of MORN. the first official arrangement of a barbershop quartet song (for the Barbershop Harmony Society) in 1941. think I've heard it 132 times.....:-)
this is one of the parts of barbershop I don't like...though this is done very well , typically , most barbershoppers get hammered and then scream tags into the middle of the night...and it turns into just BAD barbershop...but again...this OC TIMES and they rock !
Exactly...here on the east coast..there is a lady who will remain nameless , who gets hammered and sings tags with the guys all nights...needless to say...it gets scarey. LOL
wow man read the caption, then think about what you just wrote. Plus, if you are a real barbershopper you love singing tags into the wee small hours of the morning.
not at all , what happens is , people get drunk ( good singers ),and then think they are singing well , and honestly aren't , the chords are bad to the point of "hurting" your ears , not to mention the voice of the "singers".
that is a part you don't like?! I think its one of the most fun parts about barbershop (not singing them badly, but screaming them)...nothing is stopping you from leaving the afterglow, but let people have their fun with tags. Plus, without afterglows like that, things like the above video would not happen. So relax, have a drink, and sing a tag!
For the most part I agree with tigerman23 and disagree with blynk23, but only for the most part. Tag singing, even late-night tag singing, is one of the cornerstones of our hobby. It is part of the camaraderie that most of us are here for. However, I wholeheartedly agree with tigerman4 in that some people need to stop at a certain point. I LOVE ringing the crap out of a tag, and I HATE people wailing away at something when they're totally out of tune! Singing loud is fun, but only if in tune!

I hope this experience brought back a lot of the joy of singing to this lovely man & he returned to his chapter. The story gave me goosebumps.

Luckily, no one is "hammered" in this video. But that doesn't mean we didn't woodshed our way into some "bad barbershop" until 2am that night.

Yeah, have you ever been to anything in barbershop, it's as much of the tradition to drink as is tag singing itself :D
