Microsoft doesnt own the rights to marathon. bungie does. since bungie is working on games for Ps3 now in addition to games for the 360, its only natural that we see this on PSN. Marathon was made for the mac originally btw, so all arguments of "its for microsoft only!" are crap

AlephOne made too many retarded unnecessary changes, the original was better than A1

@KampferXeon The point in A1 is that it only upgrades and the upgrades are optional, you'll find that the developers are incredibly (I really mean this) strict with changes added, as soon as it removes the marathon feel it gets denied.

Only one change got added (It snuck past, it's not under revision) is the distance fog with the shader, it messes up marathon's lighting, but again, the shader is optional, standard software rendering is still available for the classic feel.

@xilefian Red BOBs don't appear on map, Doors sounds are reversed, acid no longer damages you when above it, making the game less challenging, and, of course, you can't fly with flamethrowers in the alien ship. Oh, and all human corpses are gone, making it feel like they waited until you got there to start killing.

Of course, this only applies to the first game.

90's games are trippy without the pixelisation of the sprites, especially in the early 3D game engines that used smoke and mirrors. But regardless, Marathon is still a cool fun game, and the Xbox 360 made it's graphics look like that of 3D video games that came out in the late 90s like Dark Forces 2.

This game is by far one of the best games ever, multiplayer is perfect except that the maps sucked but if you play Aleph One you'll probably have played some specifically designed maps that map multiplayer amazingly good. The single player is perfect also because it's both action packed and filled with puzzles and it's got a deep story. Not to mention it's at the perfect difficulty: Total Carnage

It is rumored that they are going to remake Marathon with the Master Cheif as the protagonist. Since Marathon takes place several hundred years after Halo the ending to Halo 3 makes sense

Exactly. And if you think about it, snipers (alien and otherwise) never existed in marathon so obviously there was never a need for crosshairs in the first place.

The game is so much more about rushing in and clearing a room with full firepower and "reckless abandon" rather than crouching in one spot on the map and basically act like a human turret.

this game is great but i hate how there are so many puzzles and how long it can takes to beat a lvl.this is like a old halo.after bungie made this they came with halo there the same charecters almost like the flood with the mouths on there stomache later in halo they remade them with different colours and mouths are alot smaller, im referring to halo 1 ,halo2 and 3 are just imptoved.

I've been playing these games on the mac since it came out. I was building maps with Forge when I was 8. Seriously the best FPS I've ever played, and I don't care what anyone else says graphics aren't everything! Everything from the level design to the storyline was all original, and in my book it beats everything else.

Well, remember, these were really good graphics when this game was released. And frankly, I think this game still looks good. It's very stylish and unique. Bungie are great with their art design.

I wish people would open up their minds and give this great game a chance. Just because the graphics are "dated" now doesn't mean this is no longer a great game. Like they say, gameplay is what matters most. Graphics will always be secondary for TRUE gaming fanatics.
