Just got a call from my wife - she was getting the oil changed in her Accord. The guy already had the cabin filter out and asked her if she wanted them to replace it... for $62!!! Must've been the K&N, so my wife can performance-breathe while she's singing. Great video, thanks for posting!
Dude! You rock! Dealerships have been sticking it to us for years and this is just another little way to fight back. Thanx for helping me save some money and get a clean smelling cabin to boot!
I watched this while waiting for a oil change. They recommended changing my cabin filter and I just laughed when they quoted me $45. After my oil was done, I drove right to Kragen and spend $14.99 :) Thanks!!!!
How often should you replace these? I have a 2008 accord with 69k miles. Is it the same way? Also, are there any DIY on replacing the air intake filter?
@theradiantchild Honda suggest 30k for cabin filter and 15k for your air filter. Just open and check. If dirty replace. If clean leave it alone. Cabin and air filter should take about 10mins to replace. 30k and 15k are just estimated time. Some times filters will get really dirty really quick. Sometimes you can go longer. It just depends where you drive. I check mine every time i do an oil change. If dirty i change them. If not leave them alone till next oil change.
Why are there so many videos for something that takes two minutes to replace, but no videos on how to replace the engine air filter, something that's not so straight forward?
Thank you for this videothis has saved med a bunch of money. The dealer wanted $79.00 to change this filter it cost me $15.00 and 5 min. labor same for the regulare air filter. total savings of $100.00. I just think it is wrong to charge such an amount when the mechanics is so simple. Thank you I want to take care of my auto but at a just cost. My model is a 2009 Coupe and bascialy the same with the glove box releases from both sides the removeal is the same.
My initial reaction was "Are you fucking kidding me?" The honda dealership was going to charge me 85.00 to do this...that is ABSOLUTE B.S. Thank you so much for the video! Much appreciated!
dam it man!! thank you so much!!! what a dumb ass i am!! i been wondering this whole time cuz in the owners manual it doesnt state that the accord has a cabon filter!! but its just like my 2003 corolla!!! great vid and info!!! keep up the good work!!!
Dealer wanted $85 to do this today. Told them to just sell me the filter for $35. I'll have to look for cheaper parts next time. Great video. you should do more.
This is the biggest rip off from the dealer. you can buy a FRAM Filter for about $20 and DIY in 10 min. (Great Video BTW) and the dealer will try to charge you $80 in my area.
Honda mechanic told me that you do not need to replace the filter at the reccomended service interval, told me to vacuum clean then rinse with a mild detergent in warm water, rinse again and leave to dry this extends the life saves you money and reduces amount of rubbish going to landfill.
hey thanks for the walkthrough video! I just ordered a filter and was about to pay someone to replace it when i got my oil changed, but now that I realize how easy it is, I will be replacing both the engine, and cabin filters myself... your vid will definitely help! Gotta love the 7th gen Accords! Mine is a 2005 Accord EX V-6 coupe 6MT with navi
The reason why i asked this is because apparently My car circulative AC smells like ass. Which might be due to the filter being dirty. I bet If I were able to replace it. It would smell like clean (whatever that might be). Do you think that Napa might carry AC filters for Hondas? since the owners manual recommend taking it to you dealer and pay the ridiculous amount like you mentioned.

I guess the thumbs down is from a shop owner that is losing $49.95 labor for a 3 minute job.

I own a 99 accord. Do you think replacing this will be just as easy as the 03-07 models?
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
Unfortanetly, those model years are apparently a real PITA to do, so be warned.
