i'm about to make this too! :) i wrote a 16-bit animated perlin noise generator and apply it as a displacement map in daz studio, now i'm checking stargate videos to figure the lighting. i hope to get results like yours

there's only 1 problem... the event horizon is facing straight ahead, and the Gate is at and angle...
