Hopefully I will be able to track down more live footage of Dax for the relaunching of his new website in early 2012. If anyone has any information please let me know!
I just discovered his music recently and absolutetly fell in love with it. His eyes had that kind of light you only see in people who know what suffering is and still try to be gentle to the others. RIP Dax, thanks for the precious music you left.
Dax was a childhood friend, and in some synchronistic moment we meet up in our adult life 2 different times. So fortunate to hear his music live. So sad to see him pass so young. Thank you Dax for the most soulful amazing music. RIP
Dax - I know you can't read this, but its Aric again - that redheaded kid from Olympia who followed you around. I just thought I'd let you know that this song, Bright Eyes, is what I use as a lullaby for my two daughters. They are mesmerized by it and fall asleep in my arms when I play it for them.
it's most moving when you're trying to type with two tears welling up in my eyes.... he's a great musician (an understatement i know) but this video just gets to me in short: ITS OK FOR MEN TO CRY IF ITS DAX'S MUSIC
Why did God take him ? :( so soon... I want more! More music! More Dax.... I just hope he is playing somewhere in heaven ...waiting for us to hear his new songs one day... WE LOVE YOU DAX :(
Daxs style of piano is amazing, I have to say that " A Moment in the Life of ME" is my favorite piano melody. I moved to Spokane in 08 I wish I would have had the chance to see him perform live.
@Thishowido He will truly be missed, and his music has touched a lot of people. I was lucky enough to be able to see him play at River Park Square one day, as they had a baby grand piano set up for him. That was the only time I got to see him perform live, and I was able to talk with him when he took a break. Very cordial and polite, soft spoken and friendly. He autographed the 2 cd's I bought and then I watched him play a bit more. Now he can play for the angels in Heaven.
It's hard to believe that it has been over 5 years & it still feels like I got the call just yesterday. I miss you old friend. I wish we could have done more shows together.
@xSlappykinkaidx I know how you feel. When Carl called me to tell me, it felt like the floor fell out from under me. The time I worked with Dax was some of the best times I ever had.
I met Dax back in 2001 at the Ontario mills in southern California. It was Christmas time and I was just shopping when I noticed a crowd of people around a guy playing the piano. I loved his sound and style, and when I saw his CDs the title "Rain" just popped out at me. And guess what?? I requested to hear the song and he played it for me. I've been an avid fan ever since. Miss ya buddy.
I just recently came to listen to his songs. I was searching on audio swap for a song and came across his song still small voice and loved it. I am using his song for two of my videos
I was very fortunate to have met Dax. He would play the piano in the mall during the Christmas Season and it was unreal. He would play everywhere, he would even drag a piano out to the street and play. Spokane is not the same without him. He was an extremely cool person.
But it's too late now, so I'll support you and do whatever I can which means the most to you, and thats to listen to the art which you produced with the piano. Long and peacefully may you rest.
They touch ur imagination, they touch your feelings and they touch your soul.
When you listen to music you attach your own feelings, your own imagination and history on them. Together with the amazing pictures youve added to them.
@katmariebokon The song at the beginning is called crazy. You may struggle to find it but it's out there and is a brilliant song. (thumbs so others can see?)
dax is not dead the aliens just took him to save him from 2012, they loved his music so much they took him earlier so they can have music for when everyone else that they are saving arrives...
Wow. What a huge loss for humanity the day Dax was lost... While among us he may never be physically again, we can find solace in the music he left behind and Pray that more follow in his likeness.
The few clips of him and his children really hit me hard. His family is every much as beautiful as himself. I'm actually in tears now and I can't really say why. How is it that I can feel so connected with him? So drawn to him?
If anyone has any more information/websites/clips/articles of Dax to share, it would be much appreciated.
I only found out about Dax and his music yesterday, and decided to investigate a little more into him and his work. I was shocked to find out he passed away not long ago, and at such an age...I can see the kindness in his eyes, a gentle way about him. He seems to have had a placid appearance on first look, but underneath that something else is there; almost haunting.
@nothinbuthax Dam... he commited suicide, iknow someppl who are border line suicidal. And they are deeply depressed. Well R.I.P. the good die to young.
None the less he was an amazing man and i wish i could have met him...he reminds me of my passed Father..i only knew him for one summer then he passed...why do the good die young...
I was curious myself and I did a little digging around on Google. According to his sister it was accidental overdose on some drug. This what I read, if I'm wrong please correct me. :)
You have to understand, Dax was in Los Angeles, addicted to alcohol and basically homeless. He was underweight, very good looking, and seemed to be a very nice person, but he was at rock bottom. Our "date" consisted of him drinking a huge bottle of vodka, by himself. And a bottle of heffenweissen, by himself. The dude was an addict. He loved alcohol and drugs more than anything else and it killed him. He didn't tell me he was married by the way...
Regardless of whether or not this actually happened, do not tarnish this man's memory. Let us remember him for what he was, which was a beautiful performer. Respect him and respect us.
Hi Dax, I love your song ( A search for Significance) I did a video for a Jazz tune and You tube, had me take it down then I found your song
it fit perfectly, I have a singer that would match your music so well its profound, I would like her to record one of your songs please let me know if you interested
That song was from his first album, Sleeping Sisera, it's one of my favorites of his. My name is Travis Holm. On that album he dedicated that song to me (I'm serious). When we lived together and played music on the streets of Spokane and Eugene, Oregon, I called it "the money song". I'd say "Dax, play the money song." and inevitably people would crowd around and give him money. I miss him.
I met Dax with my kids in a Portland mall and was blown away by him. My son Perrie fell in love with his music, we bought a couple of CDs. Perrie and I listened to him all the time, til our CDs were stolen. A month ago we wanted to see what he'd been up to....we both sat in shock when we read the news. He made such an impression, I'm glad we were fortunate enough to meet him.
I met him many years ago and I fell in love with his music. We talked through email a few times and when I heard he died, I cried so hard. He was such a talented musician and be will be forever missed. He was so kind and was such a gentle spirit, it is just heartbreaking. Thank you for this video!
I met Dax many years ago in Ontario Mills in Ontario, CA. He was just sitting there playing away and it was amazing to watch him and listen to how awsome his music truely is. I had the oportunity to talk to him musician to musician and I can truely say the world has lost another great musician and person. Such a kind person with beautiful music insight. Thanks Dax for inspiring myself and many others! You are truely missed. Godspeed
i was at the spokane mall and when i saw him playing it was like it was as easy as breathing it was so amazing but when i went to talk to him he was so chill and reminded me of just how everyone in the world should relate to each other he joked about how hed learned on a crap piano and how you always have to start with the awfullness and work your way up he was the most amazing man id ever met and i listen to the random and the purpose every night before bed
i actually met him in real life he was a great muscician and he is my rolemodel for being a pianist apparently he never had a single lesson on any of his instruments he had a daughter and he died like 8 months after i met him in California I HATE DRUGS another amazing person was taken from the earth because of those substances
Really? He is gone? I never knew him personally. I saw him play inside the Tacoma Mall in Tacoma, WA. I went back again and took my (at that time) young daughter. I was amazed with his music and his talent. I bought one of his CDs at that time.
Over the years I have looked for him to come back to town, for his career to blossom.
I was just browsing through YouTube after listen to Newton Faulkner when Dax came to mind. I thought... hell I wonder what he is up to and if he is on YouTube. The first video I see is this one and I read the following: "A great song done by an incredible man... He has passed before his time.. Let us never forget his music..."
This makes me sad.
Peace to you Dax and to your family may you also feel peace in knowing how he touched others, even if only by his music.
My brother Dax. You've done more for me then you will ever know. You've left a huge foot print on my life.
We spent just about every weekend together for 4-6 months when he was playing in the mall in Ontario California. He opened my eyes to looking at music with feeling. As a result my playing took off as a guitarist. We were going to play a show together but it got cancelled due to rain (outdoor event).
I will never forget you and your encouragement. You changed my life forever!
ive been a drummer for a while now and i heard of him through his sister. she works with my mom. i was crushed when i found out he died i was crushed. most of my friends were into rock counrty or rap and even they worshiped him. hes missed and he knows it.
WoW I'm left speechless! I was fortunate enough to meet Dax on a few occasions. I saw him perform at a few malls in the PDX area. He gave me some great advice and really inspired me to follow MY dreams and listen to MY heart because that is where the best music is born. I used to play the piano never as well as him. I wish I would have had another chance to see him and tell me how appreciated his talent is. His music truely calmed the soul and did for me when I needed it most. RIP & God Bless!
Met Dax twice in Spokane. My young daughter and I snuck in the Fox before his show. Said he really liked Thai food. Show that night was unreal. Made us late for a birthday party by playing so awesome in the Riverpark Square lobby. My daughters still request to hang out on the bluff where he played his piano overlooking Spokane and play the CD's all the time. We pray that he is in a better place still making beautiful music and that his family can know that he loved them intensely.
There is a boy at my school named zayvur and Dex is his dad...I had no idea..Zavyur never mentioned his dad or anything. :/ <3

Godspeed

Really?
