About that lap time on Laguna Seca faster than M3 thing....um...thats really not true. Because, if you look deeper into the thing, you will see that Mustang used for that lap was modified. It was a 302 Boss Laguna Seca Edition + it had a road illegal front air splitted, a roll cage, no rear seats and semi-slick tires. And it still, despite all that and 25 hp more, managed to be slightly slower (0,0X ... very little difference) than a bone-stock M3. Also..M3 is better in every single way.
@derbigpr500 Actually, MotorTrend timed both (with a professional driver), and the Boss 302 (the regular, street-legal version you see in the video above) was about 2 seconds faster. The Laguna Seca edition (the one that's track-only) is undoubtedly even faster than that.
And while the M3 is a great car, you get a different experience driving it. A driver could have a lot of fun in either one. Only, the Mustang is many tens of thousands of dollars less expensive. So, I'd say the M3 loses there.

In fact, there are very few cars from any major, reputable automotive manufacturer that handle like bricks anymore -- at least in the U.S. That's based on my personal experience of driving about a car a week as an automotive journalist.

It wants to compete with BMW 5 series, BUT...it has the build quality below 3 series, has less room inside than 3 series, actually has a smaller trunk than 1 series. Interior is just filled with parts and pieces taken from various GM cheaper cars. Mechanically it brings nothing new, it has only 2-3 engines to offer, doesnt drive that well, isnt very luxuriours...in fact it doesnt do anything better than any rival.

Not comparable to even the worst cars and cheapest cars of same type made in europe or japan, or korea lately. And american car manufacturers arent developing almost anything new, no inventions, they just copy stuff and try to be like european cars, so that they can say their cars were developed in germany or at nurburgring...probably sell more in US...

@MaxwellEindhoven Yes, that is true. Most new cars that come from America are indeed built on platforms taken from european brands or they are just rebranded european cars. And list of those cars is really long...including Buicks, Cadillacs, Fords... I mean, a cadillac CTS has the same interior parts as Opel Astra, and some mechanical parts from other cheap GM cars...air condition systems and stuff...which is just hilarious, considering cadillac wants CTS to compete with premium executives.
