I remember going to Wheelie, ? festival, and having 1 hell of a trip, thier harmony was the best, a week or so after i went to the roundhouse in Chalk Farm, (nw london), and finished of my trip listening to the boys there. Thought i was going mad, nobody had heard of them, if i remember rightly at Wheelie? there were about 5 of them............Peace..............
I love Two White Horses from this album . A very affectionate and delicate picture of working horses seen from distance. I have the vinyl of this album and the other one !! Lady Ocean was also very nice !! Irish Hippies !! not at all like the boozey fighters the Yanks think we all are !! These boys even do a song as a tribute to Guinness - The Black Glass I think it is called !!
I remember singing 'Our love will not decay' with a pal in the 70s. I've just bought the album 'Time is Like a Promise' on iTunes and it has the lovely Boat Song - my personal favourite, as well as Dante, also delightful. An unjustly neglected duo.
This song was originally on the 1st album - "Tír na nÓg". This pressing of Tear and a Amile must have been for some market abroad (i.e. not UK or Ireland). It's got quite a different track listing than the original version. This is the track listing for the album as originally released - side 1: 1.Come And See The Show 2.Down Day 3.When I Came Down 4.The Same Thing Happened 5.Blue Bottle Stew. Side 2: 1.So Freely 2.Hemisphere 3.Lady Ocean 4.Goodbye My Love 5.Two White Horses
I bought a copy of this on LP on U.S.A. 1972 version. It included COME AND SEE THE SHOW, DAISY LASY, WHEN I CAME DOWN, THE SAME THING HAPPENING, LOOKING UP (SIDEA), THE LADY I LOVE, SO FREELY, TWO WHITE HORSES, LADY OCEAN (my nick) and DANTE (SIDEB). I wonder why they're so unknown. I rellay think this album is great, a masterpiece.
@Lady0cean They are unknown because they were doing this delicate acoustic stuff in Ireland and the U.K at a time when Rory Gallagher was doing Blues-Rock and in the U.K it was all Glam Rock - Wizzard et al !!
But I bought both albums as I just liked their style even though I was mainly a Rock fan . They did exemplary harmonies when most singing gropus just sang unison.
I've got this album but Dante and Daisy Lady are not on it. I can hear all the similarities but its strange that the pressing sold in UK is different!!
