  • After thought!

if it's like the old Gray's marine engines?

they where a two stroke, but sililer stroke.

Then you would maybe try 14 deg. before

    top dead center.

  • what about say? 8 deg after top dead center?

  • My 3HP Novo jumps about the same. Swiss watches they were not.

  • @johngtmw They definitely have the torque!

  • what poweres it? gas? petroleum?

  • Nice engine sounds good I have never it before!!......PBO

  • @oologahan Not a problem, good luck with that computer!

  • awesome, thanks for sharing

  • @MrJerrytommy Thank you!

  • That is a beautiful piece of history. Just today I was looking into contacting a 92 year old fellow to see if I could buy his hit and miss garden planter.

  • that's a nice engine, looks and sounds great.

  • A very unique sounding motor, looks / sounds great - thanks for sharing

  • @photographermatt Thanks for your kind comment!

  • I love these machines !!!

  • @tvnshack Thanks!

  • Do you have to run these old engines on leaded gas? Just curious.

  • @ZoneIII No but on this particular one the timing was advanced when I got it and it was jumping every time it fired, I was told to retard the timing by adjusting the gears back one gear tooth distance. It worked, it did not jump as much but the torque these old engines have is incredible! I run it on unleaded gas, (lowest octane) and use 10W30 detergent oil - runs great on that.

  • @Hallaran Thanks for the response and keep up the work with these beautiful old engines. I really appreciate your videos and enjoy them immensely.

  • You still got her Jack ?

  • Wolf, Thanks, hopefully I can keep them running like you do with your engines, etc...

  • Great engine....

I've just came into possession of a 5 hp Novo with a nameplate rpm of 525. It's used in conjunction with a 3 cyl. Bean Giant Pump and it's attendant water tank wagon. Your engine is very similar to mine and I'm looking for a bench manual to start an overhaul on it. I was told the 5 hp model is not very common.

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Tnx...

    ...Jim

  • Jim, Thanks for the post. I do have a Novo PDF manual in my possession. I will send it to you if you can give me an email address. For some reason I cannot send it through You Tube. Jack

  • Thats a very nice engine.

  • very nice engine. dose it have a governor so is only fires when at a low rpm. what dose it run like with load on it?

  • V8, I have yet to put a load on this engine. When I got the engine it had the timing advanced, it would lift up the front skids even when I would stand on it. Needless to say I backed her off a little.

  • we have one but i think its a smaller model. the tag is damaged and the hp rating is no longer on the tag (broke right off)

  • My tag is cracked also...

  • Finnaly !! Man that thing runs sweet ! My Jaeger 7hp (waterloo made) weighs about a ton and it will jump off the ground :)

  • Jaeger, nice engine.., have a video?
