Plus in the next 10-15 years, Beaumont isn't gonna have a historic downtown, it's gonna look like The Woodlands, TX so get ready! Some things you just have to let go! Like this school that was falling apart anyways!!!
They did not have to tear it down sometime. It could have been preserved. A new school could have been built some place else.
Also the mayor and city govenrment has absolutey nothing whatsoever to do with running, building or tearing down schools. The school district is completely independent of the city government. The Superintendent runs the school district and he is hired and fired by the School Board. The School Board is elected by the taxpayers.
The new school building is looking nice, but I miss the old building and the steps, and why did they have to get rid of the Brick Gate Areas at the Football stadium?
I hope that is impressive. My fear is that you will study from the same books you are currently. You will also be taught by the same teachers. Your grammar, will therefore, not improve.

@anoldladyify im sorry if you didnt like the fact that they tore it down.theywere going to have to tear down sometime.he building may be gone you still have memories by year books or school shirts.the building doesnt matter right now what matters is that the name south park middle school is still alive.the school walls were coming down.and it wasnt the people who go there fault.the principlewent and fought with the mayor to build a new school.if it was likethis it wasfor a purpose
I went to Beaumont High and there were 2 pic of that high school in this. Lots of good memories of a different time. Sorry BHS is gone too...not the building but the name and the class.
haha i go to this school now we have to be in portables it really sucks i wish we got to keep the school but at least the new people dont have to deal with the mold and rats that were in there (:
@TwitterReally Any mold and rats that were in the old South Park were due to neglect by the school administration. The same is true of the termites in the old Pietzsch Elementary. The new school is garbage compared to the old school The old South Park had character. New buildings don't have character.
I cannot believe they are going to demo this school. It was always, by far, the most beautiful and stately of the original 6 high schools in Beaumont. The black and white trim made it stand out. I went to French H.S. ('75) in Beaumont. Great school, but the building was really ugly. I drove by French when I came home for vacation. They were remodeling it. It looked great! If BISD can spend money to fix that old school, they should at least leave South Park alone. Make it an historical landmark.
Kudos to Sherry Sharp for creating and posting this video. After viewing it I am still in awe of the fact that "I am now a part of history". I kept looking at the photos and was wondering... would I see my old girlfriend... and is she too "a part of history" say it ain't so!. I try to return to Beaumont about once a year so I will continue to follow and support this endeavor.

My mom and aunt graduated from South Park and I attended South Park in middle school. Can't believe they are going to demo it.
