@Gavylad11 Actually, a slightly modified version of this has been used: the DW logo is much shorter in duration and the howlaround at the end was sped up greatly.
In Australia, up until the mid 80's, this visual was used blended with the Delaware version of the theme music for episode 2 of Carnival of Monsters. Episode 2 also dragged on with the reprise of what happened up until the end of episode 1. The version sent to Australia originally was an early edit version. After the mid 80's the ABC seems to have been given an updated version of the episode for repeat tranmissions..
It's a test sequence and probably shows the *unseen* parts where the action and sequence fade in and out. Plus it's a rough cut test sequence so there will be bits not seen on the televised version
Don't know if it's a genuine unused sequence or one made for the "Spearhead from Space" UK DVD. The "Pertwee Years" Video has another batch of tests/unused sequences
I think it was definitely constructed at the time (1969). I've always wanted to see this so thanks for posting it! I have the DVD but my player won't play it!

I find the halloway effect very hypnotic, and also was this music theme used for a decade? wow

Actually this is a genuine test sequence. I think it didn't survive the final edit because of the photo of Pertwee's whole body.
SupremeDalek12 3 years ago
Yes, it was used before they decided on the final 1970 theme.

Is it me, or does the Howlaround Swirl Time Vortex Mess up at 00:46?
SicksTeaPhoar 4 years ago
There are other comments about this somewhere. It's test footage and unused bits, so there are things we didn't see in the broadcast version
glenrea 3 years ago
I wish someone would post the OTHER unused Pertwee title sequence... the black and white one where they put all these bizarre effects on his face.
It was on "The Pertwee Years" video, but I don't know if it's appeared elsewhere...

I did have it somewhere but if I remember rightly it was a very poor copy. If I can find and capture it I'll upload it

Same Here, it does flop to the side a bit.
SicksTeaPhoar 4 years ago
im glad they didnt use it, its rubbished compared to the real thing
zeplinofled 4 years ago
The mixing/cutting is rubbish, but the unused bits are taken from another test sequence, hence they look out of place here.

it's an easter egg but I can't remember where, which is typical as a mate's borrowing the DVD at the moment!

It looks genuine. If it's not, it's very well done.
