spiders can see through blocks but skeletons can not the the spider jockey's skeleton can break glass but it dosent know your there since only spiders can see through blocks, if the skeleton on the spider could he could break your glass. thats why spiders can climb on your roof and ambush you when you walk out because they can see through it.

there is a 1 % chance a skeleton will spawn on a spider, it happened in my mob trap, i only got 30 string in a couple hours because the skeleton on the spider was too tall to fit and was clogging the machine.
