I know what you mean about the struggle between social acceptance and personal integrity. After a really emotional divorce when I was in my 30s I decided to look into christianity. I loved the sense of community and social interaction but I was haunted by the fact that I was just pretending to believe in god. They even made me an usher during the services which I enjoyed. I had to quit though cause My need for personal integrity would not allow me to pretend.

Why lose ones soul for universal acceptance? Keep the soul and who needs the help of folks who those who want to steal it for their own gain anyway? Sit back, relax, have a cup of coffee, and smile at having been true to yourself and your principles. And then have another cup of coffee. :)
