great review...very straightforward and honest. Nice to read the point of view of a youngster like you. Nice work! I agree with alomst everything you say. Also hated Lurky Turkey song...too corny and silly! The rest are great. Bacharach and David are great composers. Keep up with your good honest and objective reviews!
I couldn't agree with you more...the show is fantastic, in general. And I also agree about the Lurky Turkey song...I also found it corny and silly. But the rest of the songs are just great. Bacharach and David are great composers, even though they were not widely known for their stage music, but more for their motion picture endeavour. I mean, who doesn't know "Rain Drops Keep Falling on my Head", or "Alfie" or "Arthur's Theme"... well, ok, maybe not you for you are so young. Great review!
thanks for this review :) would love to see this show... its on my to see list haha
sadly i live in england so not sure when/if i'll ever get to see this... which broadway shows would you recommend seeing if i visit NY next year? (apart form wicked, jersey boys, and other shows that are in the west end too)
@Sam4G0d Haha Jersey Boys is my favorite and Wicked is my least favorite lol. But other shows I recommend would be Memphis, La Cage Aux Folles, Chicago, im not aware right now of the shows in the west end but those are all shows I like currently on Broadway, most of my favorite arnt on bway anymore :( but West Side Story is a favorite to many, I didnt care for it too much but I know a lot of people still like it. Most people are gonna recommend Next to Normal but I'd stay away from that lol
@someone481 lol ooh interesting! Wicked's actually my favourite show of all time :P most theatre fans i know love wicked so its nice to come across one who doesnt like that show much. yeah West Side Story looks great but i've heard its closing in december? so i probs wont get to see it. haha you're right, i've asked several people to recommend me a show on broadway and almost all of them have said Next To Normal!
@Sam4G0d Im pretty sure that WSS isn't closing at all. They just hired a new Maria and on broadway.com it doesnt say its closing. But as I said earlier most of my favorites have closed but Promises is a great one to see and Memphis is another fun one. If you like cheap entertainment you may like The Addams Family also, but it really wasnt that good. So I would say go with Promises, its a really fun show
I love PROMISES! I love the score and have the CDs of the original and this cast. Sean is amazing. And HAHAHA "Turkey Lurkey" is so funny! It's a drunken office party song and you should check out the original - you can find it on youtube (the brilliant Michael Bennett ("A Chorus Line") choreographed the original which is WAY better than this new version). Anyway! Great review.
@brucebossa Haha Ik its a drunken party but I didnt really notice any choreography because I was a little concerned with my ears bleeding at that moment :) And Thanks! I def want to see this again!
@BiteMe1132 yea it was very good, you dont want to sit too close because you might miss some things. Where I sat I had a good view of the whole stage and I could see their faces perfectly.
