  • "what weight should the dumbbells have?" they should be light like 5KG, maybe under if you are weaker! Try it with a 1KG bag of sugar if you never lifted anything in your life. This is the one exercise that has me grimacing when I do it... thats what you want to get bigger though, weights that make you cringe like Arnie doing his dumbbell flys :)

  • im 14, and i got big biceps, is that through genes? i can make 50 pushups without turning to starting position but keep my hands 90 degrees(which makes it 2-3x harder) o.o

  • i would not recommend bodybuilding before 17 yo, but you are not asking me, so if still want to go for it 4 series x 10-12 each should be ok

  • Start musculation at the age of 16-17...

    For someone of 14, it will be still better to start with jogging, push-up, abs and light stuff like that. You body is not ready for that kind of training.

  • @shamanisgreat High intensity working out does not affect your growth when you are young. You can start at any age.

  • @shamanisgreat thats a myth, any guy can start serious lifting as soon as they hit puberty. you can lift casually at an even younger age.

    working out does not stunt your growth in any way.

    It doesn't stunt growth. But squats and deadlifts compress the goo between your vertebrae. It won't cause any long term damage but you might find that a week out of the gym gives you an extra 1/3 of an inch or something. Spinal compression happens throughout any normal day anyway. It's just normally imperceptable as most people don't actually weigh so much.
