You are correct ins saying that "if anything the precitators shows that there are solids (minerals)in the water good or bad, you never know but why take the chance". The problem is that dishonest salespeople are using it as a demo to convince you that the water is full of impurities. The brown sludge result of the demo gives people a big scare and they then want to buy the product that the sales person is selling.
@Sydiom The sales person does not say, "Look at this brown sludge, it is good and bad minerals." They say things along the line of " Wow! Look at this filthy sludge! Do you actually drink this water? Buy our water purifier now!" This demo has been banned in many countries.
POINT IS the minerals are naked to the human eye the precipitator electronically seperates the solids from the water
