  • I studied in Wye my masters and PhD... what Imperial has done is unforgettable. Wye College was, before the arrival Imperial a world renowned Agricultural Univeristy, teaching agricultural science and economics to people from all parts of the world. Many Wye graduates work in research centres, governments, NGOs and international organisations all over the world. Imperial did not see nor care for this areas. Their profit mentality destroyed this at a VERY high real social cost.

  • My mother came from Wye. She told me that part of the farm that she grew up on had been purchased by Wye College a long time ago.

My last visit, about six years ago, was like walking through a time-warp as I crossed the bridge over the Stour. Wye is not that small a village - not big enough to be a town. I has grown since my childhood holidays there. Its character should be kept and maintained as a model community for others to learn from. A truly good bit of England still not totally ruined.

  • I'm a student at Imperial in Wye, have about 2 days of university left.

Many are misinformed about what Imperial was trying to do. It wasn't so wonderful.

I'll miss the place, but it's a shame to see the college close down. Imperial should have made a better effort to integrate with the community and should have been patient with the course.

It was picking up better students (I got 3A's A Level) but they didn't get what they want and closed it.

    Shame. Long live Wye

  • i did a backpacking trip mid 90s passed by wye , if not mistaken its consist of circular road, with little train station at the entrance, a pub just over the little bridge, few little kiosk and one far end overview the green field, nice strawberry jam locally produce there.

indeed a nice quite village, very english, so quite that people could hear me scratching my balls. sadly, theres no backpackers hostel to stay overnite, so took a train off to ashford.

  • i was raised and then married in wye by the then vicar and sadly departed david marriot, what the college was trying to do was awful, they have no sense of tradition ,history or any respect for the village it self and the comment that wye is ugly, man open your eyes and your soul....

  • Sadly departed, sorely missed and often thought of.

  • n yh! wye is wonderful!!!!

  • where did u get all the photos. i used to live in Wye wen i was lil. i member it sooo much :(. just wanted to know where you got the photos. I'm looking for some lol.

  • Obviously ajfhsdfh has never visited Wye and obviously has neither a sense of history nor any respect for what is some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Of course I have a totally biased opinion about Wye as I actually spent almost a decade studying/working there. In that time I met some of the finest people I have ever known and had the priviledge to call them my friends - both College members and villagers. Some of them are now buried there in the churchyard.

  • I quite disagree it is an ugly place. I am Spanish and come back to Wye every year. Do not destroy it!

  • what an ugly place, imperial should have carried out their plans then the little village would actually grow and prosper.

  • obviously you have never been there!

  • What a noob. Wye is a lovely place.

  • Wye is the best place to be!

  • Ace.

  • Ace!

  • A slideshow of the beautiful countryside of Wye, Kent, produced for a critical meeting to decide on a controversial development plan by Imperial College. The project was scrapped shortly after this video was produced.
