The Suhr Fletcher Landau pickups with Backplate Silent Single Coil (BPSSC) System is "The Best" Strato tone of the world and "The Best" solution to eliminate the 60Hz cycles hum. Not is cheaper, but "The Best" is expensive and the years of experience of John Suhr deserve recognition. My smile touches my ears up today.
Lovely tone from these pickups...were they just straight forward replacements into your Strat, or did you have to change anything else?...(i.e the pots etc..) Thanks and really enjoyed your playing too!...very nice!. Pete
the tone press is on for the whole time in front of the chain both for the clean and dirty tones.
the settings on the tonebone are seen at 50 secs. but the pedal was off in the shot yet on in the audio track which may have caused confusion...sorry!
v nice playing dude. I'd like to hear how these pups respond on a rosewood board neck, as we know, the woods used on electrics DO affect the overall tone. Needless to say I'm a rosewood strat guy checking out possible replacement pups.
i have a set of VVs that are in a box somewhere...i am not a dimarzio fan in any way shape or form. they always have a harsh raked on concrete overkill to them.
these FLs are very nice in a sparkling natural way.
i always form a picture in my mind of clean strat single coil
tone being like tapping a glass honey jar with a fat drumstick.
these pickups have a thinner *glass* than say a fralin, but a clearer ping than the kinmans which sound darker/dampened and more ceramic like by comparison.
Based on your comment it sounds like for clean you like the Fralins first, Suhr FL second and Kinmans last. Is that correct? What about on distorted/crunch tones?
and distorted the fralins would come in last, suhr second and kinmans #1 because they are silent and a bit rounder sounding...although if you did the silent backplate the suhrs may be on top if you like more definition because they do break up nicely.
I only played those 3 pups with strat, and I totally agree about what you describe for this 3 pups, and for FL the best "classic strat clean-to-marshall compatable distortion"
hughes and ketner, the ones matthias jabs did ads for in the late 80s. the jack on the back has a main input and one parallel output and one series output so you could combine 2 8 ohm cabs for either 16 or 4 ohm operation.
they originally came with V30s but i loaded this one with a EV 12L and I have a matching one with a GH30 in it.
What kind of speaker cabinet is that......it looks like a Fender (rivera era). Do you know what king of speaker in it too. I have the same one! Smokin'!
haha, dad nice playin, and I like the diversity from landau's clean magic to the rough and edgy yet unforgiving play of whatever you were using. NIICCCEEE
i cant help but notice my old house looks a bit different...! new paint n stuff????
when on display in front of a fender amp as clean clean as possible, i favor the FLs, but the kinmans are great for a warmer smoother thing and are inherently silent.
That is a nice setup, great channel by the way , the mentone channel.the barber and the tonebone are also on my list.I like your whole series. You have great tone and play very good.
Did you ever had a quad preamp?I wonder what you think about the quad?
All of your videos give me so much to work toward. Beautiful array of tones!
I still watch the video you posted awhile back of where you are playing the surf green Strat. I think it is titled, " sparkly clean strat tones...I think.

Would you mind telling me what pots...and capacitors you are using?
Also, how you decided to wire up everything for the tone controls. Thanks again for the fantastic video.

hey man, was just wondering how these pickups sounded if you kicked in some distortion. They seem to clean out reallllyyyyy nicely.
Thanks,

Suhr FL, Fralins Blues Special or Kinman AVN62? I want your opinion. Thanks, friend.
tonyparkerfly 2 years ago
kinman = noiseless and maybe the roundest top end of the bunch
fralins = closest to the old strat pickup sound
surh = more "forward" clang and the best "classic strat clean-to-marshall compatable distortion" range of the bunch.

I bought these pickups a month ago because of this video. Best decision I've ever made with my tone!

Hi:
I am on the verge of acquiring some Suhr Pups. Right now i am using Tom Anderson Pups.
Have you ever tried Suhr v60Lp pups by Suhr, if so how would you compare them to these?
Thanks

Those Suhr's are sick. I've got to get some. I agree with your Dimarzio comment. I have the Chopper in my strat and it's complete garbage.
