  • I prefer the 7 inch screen netbooks.

  • The keyboard is noisy as hell. My Sony Vaio is silent by comparison. You press any key and its like you're pushing down the whole tray of keys which makes a loud noise. Its rather disconcerting actually.

  • I can't read my glossy 1000 HAB outside at all. Any sunlight just over powers it. Not sure how I'm suppose to compute when I can't see anything at all. Do all computer people live in their mom's basement or Dungeon's and Dragons caves?

  • Eee PC serves well as supplement to desktop or heavy laptop. Not game machine, so save complex games for desktops or dedicated devices. Does well with simple games, wp, browsing, & similar. Great for toting around house (kitchen recipes, bathroom wireless browsing, workshop reference, yard reading, etc) or to & from office. Thumbdrive transfers data quickly. Good enough for extended vacations or moves.

  • I'm planning to buy a netbook (1000HE on my list). How long does it take to boot up a word document and how many firefox tabs can you keep open before it lags?

  • @batthatisbat > '.. How long ..'

Depends on document and application. StarOffice (included on most) is very quick and MS Office is okay. Once opened, not great difference. Huge word document or spreadsheets can lag though. Large, complex, pdf's are downright sluggish. It gets the job done (using now), just at a slower pace. If big concern, try one at local store.

  • mmmmm inviting.

  • i am japanes, not japanese. i am from japan2.

  • I got a white one for only 225$ including tax.. lovin it baby////

  • AT LA CURACAO STORE IN FULLERTON CA.

  • Where'd ya get it?

  • google catch of the day

  • @robypannu how's the battery life?

  • @batthatisbat 9 hours

  • where do they sell these?

    i can't find them D:

  • target

  • M8FC1F6I0ELP4

  • I think a chiklet refers to small square shaped piece of gum, just google it if you don't understand it. cool netbook, but the acer seems more popular?

  • it's spanish i guess

  • Does this computer have backlit keyboard, like mac has?

  • By the look of it no, on a mac without the backlit keyboard lights on, the keys are totally black, by the looks of it the keys on this netbook is painted white.

  • nope

  • Hi there does the asus eee 1000HE have wi-fi b/g/n ? Thanks in advance.

  • yes it does :P just read the specs.

  • @playstation2bigs

Yes it does. It's actually some of the view that actually has b/g/n!

  • my dad's gonna buy that one, also in that colour. i dont like it pretty much so i bought myself the macbook white.

  • MrsAnouk

why did you buy a macbook? just because it's made by apple?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm getting this little thing here pretty soon. Except I'm getting the blue finish.

  • i got me a metallic black..

  • can you watch dvds on it?

  • only if you rip the dvd on a computer with a DVD drive...

  • @ pivotkid yeas you can watch DVD movies in it but youll need an external DVD rom because the pc is tiny it doesnt have a internal DVD player..or you can put a movie in a USB or memory SD card..

  • Chicklets are a brand of gum that are like little tiny squares and you get them in candy machines like 20 at a time for like 25 cents...

  • g/b/n

it can connect to all 3

  • Wireless is backwards compatible, if it can connect to n, it can connect to g and b.

  • "Are those chiclets on the ground?" "No there his teeth, fucking idiot doesn't know what chiclets are so i showed him."

  • why doesnt mine have a webcam? its just a black spot.

  • I am ninety percent sure that if a computer is certified to work with draft-n, it will always be backward compatible with draft-g. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • you are right

  • how long will the battery on this thing last ? how many movies can i watch before it runs out ?

  • about three

  • It lasts about 9.5 hours when it's full.

  • hey guys 1 thing is to remember asus has made the best netbook ever and the procesor is very god i play there the latest ''wow'' so do what u wont but for me this is the best deal

  • wot

  • are chiclet keyboards anygood? what is it like compared to an actual keyboard

  • is it worth to wait for the new atom dual core netbooks?

  • when do those come out?

  • Q3/Q4 this year I thought.

  • yes if you don't mind the decrease of battery life

  • This or Samsung NC10?? HELP!!!!

  • this BIG time it the longest laptop that can live without charging it (if u use the batter saver option and turn of bluetooth camera etc)

if u want a laptop that has a stronger gpu like a 9300 gs get the ASUS N10

  • NC10, plus 2gb DDR2 upgrade..and you won't regret. You can get the NC10 cheaper (from what I was looking at) and the screen is brighter on it, than on the Asus. I like asus, but their laptops, not netbooks. Get NC10!

  • Is this pc available with flash memory instead of hard disc?

  • no it doesn't

  • Chiclet is a tiny little gum sold in quarter machines. it's square and rounded edges

  • and Chiclets are also what adults like to spam your Halloween bag with when you go out....

  • Amazingly enough, the battery actually lasts to the claims. Even lasts around 5.4 hours with everything running heavy.

  • i hope this gets replied to asap, really leaning on buying one this week. forgive my ignorance, but do all the necessary ms office applications come with it too?

  • naaaa, but go get open office. The new version is good and free. So ofc. you want that :)

  • may i know what site i can download from, in case i find my ofc lacking? i only need the basic stuff really (Word & Picture Mngr most likely 2b most often used).. i had my friend buy mine from Paris this week end, which means i'll be getting it on Monday... yeay!

  • openoffice(.)org

  • mikethk plz dont talk about things u dont know about

yes summer this laptops includes Microsoft office works 2007

  • why did the disable the boot booster and enable the lan boot rom?

  • a chicklet is a piece of chewing gum with a candy coating

  • If you have never seen a netbook of 8,9", you wont know HOW DIFFICULT is to write on that small keyboard, specially if you use only 2 fingers like me hehe

  • thats why you get the 10inch version, duh !

  • That's what Im saying, Duh !

  • 5min. and you are used to the small screen and keyboard.

  • The best of this Netbook is:

    - The space between the keys

    - The size of the keyboard

    - The battery life, much better than other Netbooks

I dont like its color and external design.

    I like the LG X110

  • Chiclet is the spanish word for gum, and there is a type of gum, called Chiclets, that are small squares, which resemble the keys on this type of keyboard (like the MacBooks too)

  • Chicle (CHEEK-lay) is the Spanish word for chewing gum. Chiclet is the brand name based on that word.

  • you are right, its "chicle"

    It sounds similar to "Chile"

    But with a C before the L

    chiCle

  • Average UK price £300

  • any comment on the item revised???

  • so if ive got 300 quid (pounds) which eee pc is the best?

whats the differnce between 904ha and the 900ha

and is it important to have the atom and does the 1000h have an atom?

where should i buy them from?

    cheers

  • i partially disagree, ergonomics is defined as having the least amount of strain on the human body. And when we are referring to the ergonomics of the keyboard, you want ur wrists to be as straight as possible (and in the most relaxed position yes). However, tilting the keyboard towards the monitor or flat to the surface will not always mean your wrists will be straight.

  • Wrists may not be straight but they would surely be in a more relaxed position than when the keyboard is tilted towards you. There is no need to disturb science to prove it, you can try yourself: put your wrists on your legs with your fingertips touching them, then rise up your fingers so they don't touch your legs and tell me which of the two positions you find more comfortable.

  • You act as if when you type your wrists are directly above the keyboard... Your fingers slant downward to hit the keys, your wrists stay straight. My guess is that your keyboard is too high up...

  • why can't they create a full size computer at same price and specs

  • They're not as small as you would think. When it's sitting on your lap everything seems just fine. Makes me wonder why they started making any laptops larger than 12".

  • I hate it when people say that the battery propping up the back is a good thing for typing. It's the complete opposite. If you know how your wrists work you'd realize that it'd actually be better if the battery was at the front so your hands had to slant down... and you misspelled 'netbook' in the tags...

  • If it was at the front it would fall over far too easily, if you used a 701 you should understand.

  • The 701 didn't have an extended battery. Yes it'd fall over easier if the battery was at the front. But it'd still be better than being at the back if it just didn't come out of the bottom of the pc at all. It just irritates me when people talking about the batteries try to pass off the batteries sticking out as a good thing. If it's going to stick out, it should go straight away from the computer so as not to elevate any part of the base.

  • If you're using your eeepc on a desk, the slant suits your wrists very well, it would be uncomfortable otherwise. A slant on the keyboard is seen as a common useful ergonomic feature thats not only used on laptops, but on desktop keyboard too. It allows you to reach more keys while requiring less wrist movement.

  • i agree with blup, i mean if a keyboard thats slanted downward is better, why would nearly all keyboards have the props on the back to angle them upwards.... duh?

  • jizzhonson.. that didn't make sense... the slant of keys has nothing to do with the slant of the keyboard itself...

  • i said nothing about a slant "keys" you idiot, learn to read before making incompetent replies

  • It doesn't matter really. What you said was still wrong, even though I misread it. Keyboard companies putting props on the back doesn't prove that it's better to have them there, and the sentence "i said nothing about a slant 'keys' you idiot" was horribly written.

  • how doesnt it really matter. your the person bringing up the arguement. And im sorry, are u a grammar teacher now? This is youtube, get a fucking life

  • Comment removed

  • You told me to learn how to read but as soon as your grammar sucks, I need a life. God damn you're stupid. Keyboards are easier to type on and lead to less strain on ones wrists if it is flat or tilted away from you. Unless you care to tell me otherwise, your responses are pointless.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with itsCheeze: ergonomics states the keyboard should be flat on the desk, or better tilted towards the monitor, to get the most relaxed position for your hands and wrists, hence the battery propping up the back is actually a disadvantage. The reason standard keyboards have the props on the back to angle them upwards is only to make beginners have a better look at the letters.

  • its awesome!

  • why were you so rough with it? it looked like you were raping it

  • what keyboard is better this or the regular

  • wow, Does anyone know, when is this model coming to Europe

  • it already came as i know..

  • Can someone reply me the full spec for this ?? i cant find the full specs

  • just bought this online a few minutes ago, hope it is as great as it sounds =) btw i paid 375 with 2-3 day shipping included

  • where at?

  • An excellent first look at this bad-boy, thank you! Covered all/most of the important parts. Would be nice to get some battery power figures though!

  • It's a very good netbook. better than all netbooks in the market!

  • Comment removed

  • $374 on Amazon. How can you afford NOT to buy it?

  • I think Chiclets are those square looking chewing gums

  • yes chicklets are a square gum mostly identified with mexican candy.

  • ordered mine last night :) so excited

  • I'm looking to buy an eeepc 1000H (not HE) in the next few days. The spec sounds similar. Do you know if there are any significant differences between the two?

  • The previous 1000H has an Atom N270 rather than a N280 not sure much else

  • Cheers. Do you think it makes a big difference?

  • Well the chipset on the board is still the same so no not really, I would personally wait for an Nvidia Ion based netbook or one with a Dual Core atom.

  • The battery lasts about three hours longer in the HE as opposed to HA or H

  • Cheers. Thats a real tangeable difference.

  • asus used to make for apple...still do and the only way that asus were able to make a pc was because of the money apple gave to asus for making the apple comps. have no idea why its running windows but what ever

  • The man talking sounds like David Gilmour a bit.

  • Yes !!!!!!!!

  • "Yes !!!!!!!!" you agree with me?

  • hmm heres whats on my mind asus usually doesn't live up to the battery life performance they promise but however samsung nc10 does live up to what it says from what i can recall with their launch nc10 but they have a special edition version coming that also has 9.5 hrs of battery (ok fine 9.4 WOOPDEEDOO) but yeah that i can beleive more than what asus claims because on another laptop they said 7.5 hrs mean while it was only five which sucks in my opinion so right now its still hard to decide

  • You need to install the Super Hybrid Engine tool from the Asus website, and then you will get 6.5 hours with WiFi and 8+ hours without WiFi (tested on an EEE 1000).

  • which eee 1000 series tho theres like hd,ha,he which one ??

  • I think it's the HE. However, it could apply to all of them for all I know.

  • great review,

    love your vids,

keep up the good work =]

  • I really hope ASUS is going to make the 1002HE cause i like the look of the 1002 much better, but I also like the keyboard on the 1000HE and the faster processor and battery life. There's a good chance that their going to make it right?

  • When you put Ubuntu Remix on it it'll turn it into a speed demon.

  • try win 7 beta.

  • whaa?? i know mac os x 10.5 is fantastic, but windows 7 is a step in the right direction for Microsoft.

  • a chiclet is a nasty little piece of gum, that's really cheap and loses it's flavor in a few seconds. they come in a myriad of colors and are the shape of the keys on that keyboard.

    just f.y.i. :)

  • I disagrre, I have used the 1,000 and it basically looks the exact same although i do think the nwe keyboard is alot better.

  • i will buy it

  • Nice battery, I've got an MSI Wind with 4400mah battery and lasts about 5 hours.

  • How does writing word texts feels like with it? Is the screen too small to read the letters? Thank you.

  • wow i love that keyboard

  • A chicklet is a square gum tablet candy thing in america.

  • 3rd

  • lol grow up

  • Eee PC 1003HA and Eee PC T91 on the horizon.. 3G, touch tablet-screen, running windows 7

i like the new eeepc keys, very much like apple keys thumbs up from me! keyword: Touchtyping.

  • it looks really nice and nice video
