After a while of NOT using standby connection, this seemed to go away. My Wii used to have it.

It won't work if the damage is already done. The GPU was damaged by the network card.

I have this problem too but i never used wiiconnect24 or let it get too hot...

There are a lot of channels and such that demand that your standby connection is always turned on. I mean I am sure that Nintendo ran into this problem at some point during testing...
