  • One more writer I would love to hear you read from (the last for today, I promise!) is Leo Tolstoy. Few writers capture the plight of man better than Tolstoy. I can only imagine how enjoyable they would be coming from you. No matter what material you decide on, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. TIA

  • Keep recommending, John. Anytime!

I have never tackled Tolstoy. I have heard of "War and Peace" but I seem to be living that novel in my daily life at present. :)

Perhaps he may be the best writer to take on a long holiday with me. Just to remind myself of what I'm missing!

John, all your comments today have been really appreciated. I'll get reading. Thank you.

  • You're most welcome. I hope one of my recommendations resonates in you, because your reading style could make it resonate to a great many others.

  • Very encouraging. Thank you, John.

  • Also, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the poems of Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, but I got a small book of his titled "The Prodigal" which I absolutely love. It's is one long narrative poem. His writing evokes such vivid imagery in one's mind. He is a master of metaphor.

  • Sounds just my sort of thing, John. I have heard of Walcott, but nothing more than that.

Thanks for pointing me in his direction. :)

  • I liked your reading of this material. I'm not sure if this would be down your alley, but I'd like to request that you read an excerpt from "The Great Divorce", by C.S. Lewis. Even though it has Christian underpinnings, the story is surreal and reminds me very much of your "train" poem reading.

  • Although I don't know "The Great Divorce", there is something else I read by C.S. Lewis that I really enjoyed.

I cannot remember what Lewis I enjoyed, but it doesn't matter; I've exhausted my current reading list of inspirational works.

Time to read something new, I think. Thank you, John.

  • You have made my heart happy...................

this has been added to my favorites Mate!

    luv you...... kimi

  • Thanks for telling me that, kimi. It means so much, Mate! Haha! x

  • oh I just noticed that this video is here lol

    I'm sometimes stupid.

but actually I totally agree with you in many things.

  • LOL! But you got here eventually. That might be the messege in this story.

Have you watched "Part One"? The words are not mine, even if the voice is. And I mention two people in it, one of whom may be you.

My intention is to be sometimes stupid in the future. I've met a good teacher then? :)

  • Somehow I'm flattered now.

And yeah you must have had a great teacher.

  • Fadiz. My teacher was about 15 years ahead of his time. And I didn't appreciate what he was saying till now.

Yes, be flattered. But also know, you deserved it. :)

  • I know I did ;)

its hard to appreciate what others give to you. Because when you r young you wanna goy your own way.

  • Well go your own way, my friend. I wish I'd done it when I was young ... I think. It was a long time ago; I can't remember now. :)

  • sure I will ;)

and yeah I hope you will remember once. I 'm sure you will.

  • hehe,are you blushing?lol just kidding,haha pretty good!

  • Thanks, koala!

  • brilliant!perfect!wonderful!

  • I thought so! Haha! :)

  • So true.

  • Universally, it seems. x

  • Wise words my friend! You could almost have written them yourself! x

  • I just wrote ":)" and had the message that I must write a longer comment, so this is it! :) xxx
