@TheDiddlysquat Agree with most of that, Both Grayson and Inman created the image of the typical homsexual, and they portrayed them as depraved perverts who were willing to sleep with anything in a pair of trousers.
That is why so many people assume homosexuals are predators and spread aids as they sleep with anything with a cock.
Yep i also heard that John Inman had homsexual's boycotting some of his shows as they portrayed them in a bad light
I am a member of Larry's family. "Uncle Bill" called us in Canada every year. He was a great man. Our family is not great at cyberculture, but it is still a tradition we care on. Watching Larry as he asked to be called every Xmas is important, for us to remember him. Thank you from Larry's family
It's interesting, because I think it comes across that as well as being a great entertainer, he really was a very sweet man. I don't think you can fake that.
I'm as gay as they come and have no problems with camp, effeminate comedians! As someone else mentioned, these guys paved the way for others and it is thanks to them that there is more tolerance (well was more) in our society. RIP Larry
I BOW say what some of the 'silly" "camp is bad" opinions
they PAVED the way for where we are todaye Like the sadly missed John inman & Kenneth Williams Broke through solid walls to bring Ca,ps -gay humor to the masses -were they Larffing at us -maybe But it also helkped the masses become to the idea we're Queer and we will be Here & Staying
Thanks for posting clip, I thought Larry was the funniest comedian of his time I still watch the Royal Variety Performance from 1994 just before Larry sadly passed away.
I also saw him in Brighton many many years ago when he played the ringmaster with Doria Bryan, he was just fantastic. Does anyone know is there are DVD's of a compilation of all his work I would like to know. Bless you Larry for giving us those good laughter times.
appalling comment on humanity that this warm, kind hearted man could consider himself a "mistake" due to the irrational prejudice we still encounter in society toward gay ppl. his warmth makes his infrequent repeat appearances on old editions of the generation game so wonderful to watch. surprisngly, he is a favourite of bernard manning, who is a world away from larry's hunanity & warmth.
What a find, an absolute treasure. Thank you for making this available to us. Larry was and still is very dear to my heart. I loved him as an outstanding entertainer, watched him on many cold winter nights with millions of other lovers of family entertainment. My fingers are crossed that someone will make a DVD of a selection of Larry's work available soon.
I think his home town of Nuneaton in Warwickshire has a bus named after him and a pub "The William White" (real name) He is laid to rest there.

Shame ATV have wiped so many of the programmes he was in, including his early Crossroads appearances and most of his own show, Shut That Door.

Full marks for this, let's all raise a glass to Larry as he gave many much pleasure and in his own unique way made being gay rightly acceptable.
